Alternatively, you can pay upfront for a contract, which typically covers your anticipated usage for the contract duration. Any usage beyond contract will incur additional usage-based costs.
Additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator to estimate your infrastructure costs.

You pay by the hour for the specific Amazon EC2 instance you run. Each dimension maps to one EC2 instance type, so your rate depends on the size and family you choose. Smaller instances like t3.nano bill at lower hourly rates than large or metal instances like x2iedn.metal. Compute-focused (c-series), memory-focused (r- and x-series), and GPU or accelerator instances (g, p, inf, trn) all carry their own rates. You pick the instance that fits your workload. Software charges accrue only while an instance runs, alongside standard AWS infrastructure fees.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one hour of billing cover on these dimensions?
Each dimension bills per running hour of one Amazon EC2 instance of that type. The rate covers the software running on that instance. You also pay standard AWS charges for the underlying compute separately. One instance running for one hour equals one billable hour on that dimension.
Am I charged when an instance is stopped or paused?
Software charges accrue only while an instance runs. A stopped or paused instance does not accrue software hours. Stopped instances may still incur AWS storage fees for attached volumes, but the software meter counts running time only.
What software runs on these Amazon Linux 2023 instances?
The listing supports open-source applications and runtimes deployed on Amazon Linux 2023. The vendor offers ready-to-use applications such as stream-processing and web-server software. Your hourly rate depends on the instance type you choose, not on which supported application you run.
