Reps don't log everything, so CRM data is incomplete and the AI built on it is too. Backstory captures the missing activity and gives executives clarity and GTM teams direct answers on deal risk, forecasts, and rep performance wherever you work.
Most CRM rituals exist to compensate for bad data. Pipeline reviews, forecast scrubs, and deal inspections all try to catch what reps never logged in the first place - and the AI layer your team is adding on top inherits the same gap.
Backstory is a revenue answers platform built on top of Salesforce. It automatically captures the activity that never makes it into the CRM: emails, calendar activity, and relationship signals. No rep has to log anything.
That activity becomes the foundation for direct answers on deal risk, rep performance, and forecast accuracy, delivered where GTM teams already work: inside Salesforce, Slack, ChatGPT, or Copilot, via MCP.
Backstory is built around three stages of the revenue workflow:
Know your situation - the right data, matched to the right context, in real time.
Know what to do - direct answers and recommended actions, not another dashboard to interpret.
Make the call - Take action and change outcomes, in the tools your team already uses.
Other tools show fragments of the revenue story: call recordings, forecast rollups, or CRM reports, each on its own. Backstory reasons across CRM and conversation data together and gives you one full customer story, not another point tool to check.
Who it's for:
RevOps leaders and AI-forward sales managers who can't get a fast, trustworthy answer about their pipeline without a day of manual work, and the CROs and executive sponsors who need to prove AI and revenue-technology ROI before renewal.
You get a direct answer on deal risk, forecasts, and rep performance - without asking reps to change anything.
Highlights
Full picture, not fragments. Backstory logs the emails, calendar activity, and relationship signals reps never get around to entering. Your pipeline reviews and forecasts run on what actually happened, not on what a rep had time to type into CRM.
Answers, not more dashboards. Get a direct answer on deal risk, rep performance, or forecast accuracy in CRM, Slack, your LLM in seconds - instead of pulling a report and reading between the lines.
The data layer your AI stack is missing. Connects to the AI tools your team already uses via MCP, so your LLM has real activity to reason over instead of a CRM full of gaps.
AWS Marketplace now accepts line of credit payments through the PNC Vendor Finance program. This program is available to select AWS customers in the US, excluding NV, NC, ND, TN, & VT.
Pricing is based on the duration and terms of your contract with the vendor. This entitles you to a specified quantity of use for the contract duration. If you choose not to renew or replace your contract before it ends, access to these entitlements will expire.
Additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator to estimate your infrastructure costs.
Backstory Platform (Available Through Private Offer Only)
Making the real story of every deal visible, so you can call risk early. Know the story behind the sale with Backstory. Contact us for more information and your private offer.
This listing offers one option: the Backstory Platform, available only through a private offer. You do not buy per login or per seat. Instead, you pay to connect the customer-facing people whose emails, calls, and meetings feed the platform, plus the answers your team uses. Each connected person carries a consumption allotment that pools across your organization. Pricing scales as you add more customer-facing people, not as more viewers access the tool. Because terms and quantities are set individually, you contact the vendor to receive pricing tailored to your team.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
Who counts as a connected person that carries the platform fee?
Connected people are your customer-facing staff whose activity feeds the platform: reps, customer success, channel, and partners. The platform ingests their emails, calls, and meetings. Viewers such as managers, finance, deal desk, and operations do not carry the fee. They pull answers without a seat.
What counts as a consumed answer that draws from my allotment?
You pay when the platform delivers something your team uses: a deal summary, a risk surfaced, a coaching flag, or a question answered. Reading a dashboard does not draw from your allotment. Each connected person adds a pre-packaged consumption amount that pools across your whole organization.
What happens to my cost if usage runs past the packaged consumption during the term?
Nothing shuts off mid-term and you are not back-billed. Your consumption is pre-packaged at the start, so the figure you sign is what you pay that term. At renewal, you adjust forward to match actual usage. Adding connected people raises the platform fee; adding viewers does not.

What do you like best about the product?
It is generally easy to use. Also, People.ai eliminates the need for manual data entry in Salesforce which is a huge time saver and improves productivity. The ability to automatically log emails and contacts has proved very useful to my team.
What do you dislike about the product?
The inaccuracies in data interpretation and lack of transparency are my biggest pain points. Also, with AI in general, content is at times low-quality and feels a bit unauthentic and unoriginal. It can take out the creativity aspect.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The ability to eliminate manual data entry in Salesforce is huge for my team. It is a big time saver and has made us more productive as a whole. Automations also have been tremendously helpful in the productivity department!

What do you like best about the product?
I've used People.ai across multiple companies, and I can't recommend it enough. The platform has transformed how we manage our sales motion. The insights we gain are invaluable, allowing us to make data-driven decisions that truly impact our bottom line. The integration with our existing systems was seamless, and the Services team has been brilliant every step of the way. It's clear that People.ai is committed to helping us succeed.
People.ai gives us reliable visibility into sales activity, account engagement, and stakeholder coverage without relying on manual CRM updates. The insights are genuinely usable for coaching and pipeline inspection, and the org/relationship views help teams navigate complex accounts faster. Integration to our existing systems was straightforward, and Customer Success has been super responsive whenever we’ve needed help.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing, but like any revenue intelligence platform, value depends on a good account hierarchy, underlying CRM hygiene and consistent user adoption.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It reduces the “guesswork” in sales execution by turning activity and engagement data into practical, actionable signals for both reps and managers. We use it to improve pipeline quality, spot coverage gaps across stakeholders, meetings, and relationships, and coach reps with objective inputs rather than anecdotes. The net impact is improved sales performance, more productive coaching conversations, and a more consistent operating rhythm across teams, with less time spent chasing updates or stitching together reports.

What do you like best about the product?
I value People.ai's stellar customer success team. The CSEs truly integrate into the customer's organization and culture, which drives stronger alignment and influences the product roadmap in meaningful ways. I appreciate the true joint partnerships they create rather than transactional relationships. The experience of rolling out PeopleGlass was almost seamless, layering on top of our CRM. We helped co-create our forecasting module, and the partnership was incredible. Soon, People.ai will integrate into our internal AI assistant that the entire organization will use, not just sales. I recommend People.ai highly and am a big advocate.
What do you dislike about the product?
I do not have anything negative to say about People.ai. We are looking forward to seeing them to continue to grow and scale!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
People.ai improves accountability in account planning, making it a dynamic tool for the entire account team. It streamlines forecasting, reducing management hours and increasing accuracy with SalesAI.
