    AI Insights

     Info

    Dimensions summary

You pay by the hour for the compute instance that runs Ignition Cloud Edition. Pricing scales with the AWS EC2 instance you select, so the dimensions are instance sizes, not feature tiers. Options span two instance families, m5 and m6i, in sizes from t3.medium up to 4xlarge. Larger instances offer more CPU and memory and carry a higher hourly rate. You choose the size that matches your workload and can scale up or down over time. All sizes include the same bundled modules and support.

    Top-of-mind questions for buyers

You pay for hourly usage of the running instance. When the instance is stopped, the hourly software charge stops accruing. Underlying AWS storage or other resources may still incur separate AWS fees, but the Cloud Edition charge meters running time only.
Each rate covers Ignition Cloud Edition with its bundled modules, including visualization, reporting, historian, and MQTT and OPC UA connectivity. It also includes support you activate through your cloud account. It does not include device drivers or Edge licenses, which you purchase separately.
You can run redundancy by starting two separate EC2 instances, likely using two different images. Each running instance meters its own hourly charge. So a redundant setup roughly doubles the hourly cost, since you pay per active instance.

Centralized cloud monitoring has improved access to multiple industrial sites across the country

    Reviewed on Sep 04, 2026
    Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

I use Ignition Cloud Edition in industrial automation architectures that contain several sites that are separate from each other. For example, I took part in a project where we have several LNG storage and regasification units located in different locations throughout Brazil. Starting from Ignition Edge, we take this data and send it to the central SCADA in the cloud using Ignition.

Ignition Cloud Edition really helps because you end up centralizing all site data in a single place, and thus you can access it faster via the web from anywhere you are.

How has it helped my organization?

Ignition Cloud Edition has had a very positive impact on my organization. Before, I had a SCADA system for each plant, and that caused bottlenecks because I had to access each one individually. Today, by centralizing via the cloud, access is much faster.

Ignition Cloud Edition reduced costs both in terms of time. To access each system, you spent considerable time connecting to the VPN and so on. In an architecture where we have more than 100 clients, this was detrimental and took a lot of time.

    What is most valuable?

The best features that Ignition Cloud Edition offers are the ease of developing screens for the web interface. In addition, the native support feature for OPC-UA, the Modbus part, and the ease of integration via MQTT are valuable. A classic differentiator of Ignition is that it has its unlimited version, which doesn't charge for tags, clients, screens, or connections, which many other systems do charge for.

    What needs improvement?

Ignition Cloud Edition can be improved in the sense that it doesn't come with some drivers in the Cloud version. For example, local device drivers are not included, and you always need a local Ignition Edge there. That is a negative point that could be improved.

I believe it is still a bit difficult in terms of development, since with Ignition, to develop you need a bit of knowledge of technologies that are outside traditional automation, such as Python and HTML for screen development.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Ignition Cloud Edition for almost two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Ignition Cloud Edition has not experienced any stability issues.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Ignition Cloud Edition has not experienced any scalability issues.

How are customer service and support?

Customer support for Ignition Cloud Edition is very good, including the knowledge page and the courses offered for free.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Previously, I used GE iFIX in each plant. Now, instead, I use a centralized Ignition Cloud Edition.

    How was the initial setup?

    The initial setup was completed.

    What about the implementation team?

    A partner handled the implementation.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The prices for Ignition Cloud Edition were very affordable, compared to other traditional SCADA systems.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I evaluated Elipse here in Brazil. However, I realized that it was not as advanced as Ignition.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend using Ignition Cloud Edition because of the ease of integration with the advancement of artificial intelligence. I gave this review a rating of 9.

Easy-to-Follow Manuals and an Intuitive Ignition Interface

    Reviewed on Aug 27, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
The website and manuals are very easy to follow and understand. It may be me, but I find the Ignition interface very easy to use too.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes when I conduct searches in the manual it is too generic and doesn't provide what I'm specifically looking for. I then find myself searching for information in ChatGPT where I should have just easily been able to find it in ignitions site.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is one of our solutions for automation. As an automated controls leader, we require tools to create our HMI interfaces for our clients. It requires easy access and visually aesthetic controls presented in a very simple way.

Transparent Flat Folders and Clear Gateway Separation Make Navigation Easy

    Reviewed on Aug 21, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
The transparent flat folders in v8.3.6, and the clear separation between the Gateway and its tags, and the application views.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think there can be more consistency/uniformity in saving settings in the various sections, and I would like to see more "inline" help in the expression functions, similar to how Microsoft Excel guides you through the formula syntax when entering.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Collecting as much data from our production process for statistical analysis and quality control.
