Sizes range from small shared instances up to large metal instances, so hourly cost scales with the compute, memory, and storage you choose. There are no tiers or commitments. You pay only for the hours each instance runs, plus standard AWS infrastructure charges.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
You pay for the hardened Oracle Linux 9 ARM image software licence, metered per hour the instance runs. The image is configured to STIG security recommendations to reduce system vulnerabilities. This software charge is separate from and adds to standard AWS infrastructure fees for the underlying EC2 instance.
The software fee meters running time only. Fully stopped instances do not accrue the hourly software charge. Stopped instances may still incur standard AWS storage fees for attached volumes, but those are separate AWS charges, not the image licence.
Yes. Each pricing line maps to one specific EC2 instance type. Your rate follows whichever instance you launch. Moving from a smaller size to a larger one, or between instance families, changes the hourly software rate accordingly. There is no upgrade step to trigger manually.

To connect to your instance, you will need to use SSH over port 22. The default username for connecting is ec2-user.
