This is a repackaged open source software product wherein additional charges apply for security hardening, automated first-boot setup, security update configuration and support by Sers One Cloud. EspoCRM 10.0.10 on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS with Apache, PHP 8.3 and MariaDB: your own CRM, ready in minutes with no default passwords.

    Overview

    Open image

Launch your own CRM server in minutes and keep customer data on a server you control. EspoCRM 10.0.10, Apache, PHP 8.3 and MariaDB come installed and connected on a hardened Ubuntu 24.04 LTS image, and every instance creates its own passwords on first boot.

    What you are paying for

    • Security hardening of the server and the web stack
    • Automated first-boot setup with unique passwords for each instance
    • A private setup gate that keeps the EspoCRM installer closed until you finish
    • Automatic security update configuration
    • Email support from Sers One Cloud for the image

About EspoCRM EspoCRM is a popular open source CRM for managing leads, contacts, accounts, opportunities, cases and email, with workflows and a clean, fast interface. It is licensed under the GNU AGPL v3.

    What is included

    • EspoCRM 10.0.10 from the official release, checksum-verified at build time
    • Apache 2.4, PHP 8.3 and MariaDB 10.11
    • Scheduled background jobs preconfigured (email checks, reminders, workflows)
    • certbot for HTTPS
    • Ubuntu 24.04 LTS (x86_64), patched at build time

    Secure from the first boot

    • No default passwords: the database password and a one-time setup password are created on each instance
    • Private setup gate: the site asks for the setup password until you finish the installer, so nobody else can create the first administrator
    • SSH key login only; root and password login are disabled
    • The database listens on localhost only
    • Ubuntu security updates install automatically

    Get started

    1. Launch with your key pair and open ports 22, 80 and 443.
    2. Connect over SSH as "ubuntu" and run: sudo espocrm-credentials show
    3. Open the server address, pass the setup gate and complete the EspoCRM installer with your own administrator account.
    4. Run: sudo espocrm-setup-complete
    5. Point your domain at the server and enable HTTPS with certbot.

Recommended instance types t3.medium for most teams; t3.large or larger for bigger teams.

    Good to know

    • Single server: backups and high availability are yours to set up; the usage instructions show how to back up and restore.
    • No mail server is included; connect your own SMTP and IMAP accounts inside EspoCRM for email.
    • HTTPS is enabled with certbot after your domain points to the server.
    • Application updates (EspoCRM releases and extensions) and OS release upgrades are the responsibility of the customer.

Support Sers One Cloud helps with launching the image, the first boot, the setup gate and the included configuration: https://sersonecloud.com/#contact

    Additional details

    Usage instructions

EspoCRM 10.0.10 on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS with Apache 2.4, PHP 8.3 and MariaDB 10.11.

    BEFORE YOU LAUNCH

    • Use a key pair you hold; there is no default password.
    • t3.medium, 20 GiB SSD. Security group: 22/tcp from your IP only, 80/tcp and 443/tcp open. No host firewall.

    FIRST SETUP

    1. Connect: ssh -i <your-key.pem> ubuntu@<public-ip>
    2. Show your one-time values: sudo espocrm-credentials show Note SETUP_PASSWORD and DB_PASSWORD.
    3. Open http://<public-ip>/ and sign in to the setup gate: user "setup", password SETUP_PASSWORD.
    4. In the installer accept the licence, then enter the database values: host 127.0.0.1, database name espocrm, user espocrm_user, password DB_PASSWORD. Create your own administrator account and finish to "Installation is complete".
    5. Go live: sudo espocrm-setup-complete Removes the gate and the one-time values; refuses until the installer is finished.
    6. HTTPS: point a DNS name at the instance, run sudo certbot --apache -d <your-domain>, then set Administration > Settings > Site URL to https://<your-domain>.
    7. Connect your email: Administration > Outbound Emails (SMTP) and Personal Email Accounts (IMAP).

    SENSITIVE DATA

    • Database "espocrm" (MariaDB, /var/lib/mysql, 127.0.0.1 only). Admin: sudo mariadb.
    • Configuration and secrets: /var/www/espocrm/data/config.php and config-internal.php (DB password, keys).
    • Uploads and attachments: /var/www/espocrm/data/upload. Logs: /var/www/espocrm/data/logs, /var/log/apache2.
    • Until step 5: /etc/espocrm/instance-credentials (root only).
    • All data stays on your instance's volume.

    ENCRYPTION

    • At rest: enable volume encryption at launch (Configure storage > Advanced).
    • In transit: HTTP until step 6, then TLS (Let's Encrypt, renewed automatically). SSH is encrypted; database traffic never leaves the instance.

CREDENTIAL ROTATION No secrets ship in the image. To change them:

    • Administrator password: Preferences > Password, or Administration > Users.
    • DB password: in sudo mariadb run ALTER USER 'espocrm_user'@'localhost' IDENTIFIED BY '<new>'; and the same for 'espocrm_user'@'127.0.0.1'; then update database password in /var/www/espocrm/data/config-internal.php.
    • SSH login key: replace yours in /home/ubuntu/.ssh/authorized_keys.
    • TLS: test renewal with sudo certbot renew --dry-run

BACKUP AND RESTORE Back up both parts; keep them off the instance, encrypted (e.g. object storage): sudo mariadb-dump --single-transaction espocrm > espocrm.sql sudo tar -czf espocrm-data.tar.gz -C /var/www/espocrm data custom Restore on a fresh instance: restore the files to the same paths, import the dump (sudo mariadb espocrm < espocrm.sql), set the database password in data/config-internal.php to the new instance's DB_PASSWORD, then sudo chown -R www-data:www-data /var/www/espocrm/data /var/www/espocrm/custom. Volume snapshots also work.

    HEALTH CHECK

    • Instance status checks pass; set an alarm on them.
    • sudo systemctl is-active apache2 mariadb (both "active")
    • curl -I http://localhost/  (200 after setup; 401 while the gate is on)
    • First-boot log: sudo journalctl -t espocrm-firstboot

UPDATES Ubuntu security updates install automatically; reboot when /var/run/reboot-required exists. EspoCRM itself: back up first, then use Administration > Upgrade.

E-MAIL No mail server; outbound port 25 is blocked by default. EspoCRM sends and receives through the SMTP and IMAP accounts you connect (port 587 for SMTP).

SERVICE QUOTAS One instance (2 vCPUs of your account's standard-instance vCPU quota), one 20 GiB SSD volume, optional static IP. No increase needed; if a launch fails with a vCPU limit error, request a quota increase.

COST Software charge: shown on the product page. Infrastructure (instance, volume, public IPv4, data transfer, snapshots) is billed separately. Each additional instance adds these charges again.
