AWS Solutions-Focused Immersion Days

You are invited! Join us to learn how to build on AWS.

Bringing builders together to learn about AWS

AWS Solutions-Focused Immersion Days are a series of events that are designed to educate you about AWS products and services and help you develop the skills needed to build, deploy, and operate your infrastructure and applications in the cloud. Immersion Days leverage a modular content format and are structured to provide general overviews of a given service or solution. Hands-on labs provide you with an immersive experience in the AWS console. Sessions are delivered by AWS Solutions Architects and subject matter experts.

Whether you are new to AWS or an experienced user, you can learn something new at an Immersion Day. These events are designed to help you develop the right skills to create new insights, enable new efficiencies, and make more accurate decisions.

These events are designed for the technical audience including Infrastructure Administrators, Database Administrators, Developers, and Architects. However, anyone is welcome to attend and learn new skills.

AWS Builder's Quest is a digital badge program that provides recognition for participation and completion of AWS technology learning events. These events include AWS Immersion Days. AWS Builder's Quest encourages a wider and deeper understanding of AWS cloud technologies while introducing new learning paths and highlighting personal achievements. Use our digital badges to showcase a rich picture of a learning journey that increases confidence with practical cloud skills allowing you to innovate using AWS. An Immersion Day allows hands-on time with AWS services under the guidance of Solution Architects for a particular topic. They are designed by topic, and typically have 2-4 presentations along with 2-4 hands-on labs that follow a continuous thread to help learners become familiar with the service. These events are a common starting point for customers looking to prepare to use a service or solution in a meaningful project.

A Solutions-Focused Immersion Day, also known as an SFID, is a 1:many virtual customer event that leverages the Immersion Day format but brings together builders from different backgrounds and different areas to one event to learn together.

Not at all. You might want to plan on attending the monthly "Introduction to AWS" session we offer if this will be your first time using AWS services. Each session is given a level as to the complexity of that session. It is recommended that you choose a session that aligns to your AWS experience.

  • Level 100 - Introductory: Sessions will focus on providing an overview of AWS services and features, with the assumption that attendees are new to the topic.

  • Level 200 - Intermediate: Sessions will focus on providing best practices, details of service features, and offering demos, assuming that attendees have introductory knowledge of the topics.

  • Level 300 - Advanced: Sessions will dive deeper into the selected topic. Presenters assume that the audience has some familiarity with the topic, but may or may not have direct experience implementing a similar solution.

  • Level 400 - Expert: Sessions are for attendees who are deeply familiar with the topic, have implemented a solution on their own already, and are comfortable with how the technology works across multiple services, architectures, and implementations.

The majority of the Immersion Day sessions have hands-on labs, as the main purpose of the Immersion Days is to the get builders hands-on with the AWS services. There are a few exceptions, so please read the description of the Immersion Day session to verify if hands-on labs are included.

During the Immersion Day sessions, you will be given a temporary AWS account for the day to perform the labs in a temporary environment. These temporary accounts are available for 24 hours from the start of the session and will automatically terminate. The exception to this is the Control Tower Immersion Day. Control Tower itself has no cost associated with it, but the different services you utilize will determine the cost.

During the Immersion Day sessions, you will be given a temporary AWS account for the day to perform the labs in a temporary environment. These temporary accounts are available for 24 hours from the start of the session and will automatically terminate. The exception to this is the Control Tower Immersion Day. For the Control Tower Immersion Day, you need to bring your own account to participate. To set up your AWS account, please visit this webpage

There are no restrictions on the number of events you can attend.

Please reach out to csc-immersion-day@amazon.com and make sure you include the event title and date in your email.

We understand things happen and sometimes you may need to join late. Please plan to join the event at the beginning so we can set you up with the temporary AWS account. If you join the event after the temporary AWS accounts have been handed out and labs have started, you will not receive a temporary account. You would need to either use your own AWS account (which may incur costs) or you can watch the labs as a demo and work on them in your own AWS account at a later date.

For most events, nothing is required. If your event requires any special downloads, it will be referenced in the email confirmation you receive.

Solutions-Focused Immersion Days utilize either Amazon Chime or GoTo Webinar. To ensure compatibility and a smooth experience, participants should refer to the platform-specific requirements: The GoTo Webinar system requirements page for GoTo Webinar events, and the Amazon Chime system requirements compatibility page for Amazon Chime events. It's important to check the requirements for the platform specified in your event invitation.

For web versions of the training platform, we recommend the Chrome browser. Please refer to the system requirements for additional information.

There is no time requirement, however, we don’t record the sessions so you could miss important information if you leave early. If you leave early, you are not eligible for the AWS Builder’s Quest Badge. Many of the events happen on a reoccurring basis, so you can possibly attend another session if you have to leave early.

These events are not recorded.

We require that you use your company email to register. By registering with your company email, we can quickly and easily get you connected with your account team.

We will share a copy of the presentation slides after the Immersion Day session.

At this time, sessions are offered in English. We are working to offer sessions in other languages.

This program is based in North America. We do have a sister program based in Europe. Please visit AWS CloudBoost to see what sessions are available.

You can contact our team via email csc-immersion-day@amazon.com.

AWS Builder's Quest is a digital badge program that provides recognition for participation and completion of AWS technology learning events including AWS Immersion Days. AWS Builder's Quest is an innovative and fun way for builders to receive recognition for an AWS technology learning event by obtaining digital badges. Not all events offer an AWS Builder's Quest Badge. Please refer to the individual event to see what badge is available.

Customers embark on the quest and achieve the next level by accumulation of AWS Learning Participant badges. As you earn the participant badges, you will automatically earn Level Badges. AWS Builder's Quest Learning Participant badges provides recognition for participation and completion of AWS technology learning events. AWS Builder's Quest Level badges provide recognition for joining multiple Immersion Day sessions.

AWS Builder’s Quest asserts that a builder successfully completed an AWS technology learning event. As a part of AWS Builder's Quest, builders can visually represent their achievements using digital badges which can be used to showcase a rich picture of a learning journey on professional networks such as LinkedIn.

Anyone who participates in a Solutions-Focused Immersion Day event hosted by an AWS Solutions Architect.

An AWS Builder’s Quest Learning Participant badge asserts that a learner has successfully participated in technology learning event such as an AWS Immersion Days. There is no written or formal testing required post event to attest to proficiency of the specific service. AWS Certification provides documentation of competency and proficiency of a specific area. AWS Certification requires passing a formal test to be certified.

Each AWS Builder’s Quest badge is aligned to a specific topic. You can only earn 1 badge per topic, even if you attend multiple events for that same topic. Each event lists what badge you will earn for attending. If you already have that badge, you will not be issued another badge.

At the end of each SFID Session, you are asked to complete a customer satisfaction survey. Once you complete that survey, you will be redirected to opt-in to receive the badge for the Immersion Day session. We do need you to opt-in to receive the badge so we can share your name and email address with Credly for the purpose of issuing you the digital badge.

To earn the badge, it is expected that you participate in the entire Immersion Day. If you leave the event early and you do not complete the survey to opt-in to receive the badge, you will not be able to earn the badge.

You can contact our team via email aws-builders-quest@amazon.com

Yes, Control Tower Immersion Days are different in that you need to have your own AWS account. We will not provide temporary AWS accounts for these events. We ask that customers conduct these Workshop Prerequisites prior to the event. Also, all of the work conducted alongside our instructors should be done in a test (sandbox) environment. We do not recommend handling any production environment workloads during this workshop. Please refer to the session description for additional information.
