For more than 150 years, Children’s National Hospital has worked to bring health and well-being to children around the world. Today, it is among the nation’s top 10 children’s hospitals and is transforming pediatric medicine for all children. Recently, the hospital opened the Children’s National Research & Innovation Campus (CNRIC). Amazon Web Services (AWS) is pleased to help launch this one-of-a-kind hub for pediatric medical discovery, innovation, and care.

New global program to help customers develop solutions to improve health outcomes and health equity

AWS is announcing a new global program to support organizations working to enhance health outcomes for underserved or underrepresented communities. We are providing AWS credits and technical expertise, committing $40 million over three years to help organizations develop solutions to improve health outcomes.

AWS Startup Ramp now available in South Korea and South East Asia

The AWS Startup Ramp is a program for early-stage startups building solutions in health, digital government, smart cities, agriculture, and space technology, and is dedicated to supporting entrepreneurs as they build, launch, and grow. AWS Startup Ramp works to remove barriers for entrepreneurs who want to make an impact in the public sector by providing technical design and architecture reviews, mentorship, credits, and support with go-to-market plans to help navigate the complex regulatory and security requirements in the public sector.

Announcing the 10 finalists for the inaugural AWS Clean Energy Accelerator program

We are happy to announce the selection of the 10 finalists and participants in the inaugural AWS Clean Energy Accelerator program. These ten companies were selected by a panel from AWS and Freshwater Advisors, from 218 applications received from 38 countries around the world. The applicants ranged from pre-revenue to $50M in annual revenue and from 1 to more than 500 employees.

Emerging economies will lead the charge for central bank digital currencies, say experts

China will launch its digital currency February 2022, and the UK and Eurozone have joined the movement for central bank digital currencies (CBDC), but it is the smaller, emerging economies that are leading the charge and have much to gain, experts have predicted. In a recent Global Government Forum and AWS Institute panel discussion, financial technology (FinTech) specialists noted it is the Bahamas and Cambodia who are the CBDC pioneers. The Bank for International Settlements said 86% of central banks are experimenting with CBDCs and 10% are close to implementing them, while banks representing 20% of the global population will launch a digital currency within three years.

BrainGuide uses cloud technology to empower people with knowledge and resources for brain health

Alzheimer’s, a progressive brain disease that gradually deteriorates memories and thinking skills, is one of the leading causes of death in the United States, according to nonprofit UsAgainstAlzheimer’s (UsA2). To help address the immense need for brain health information and insights, UsA2 recently launched BrainGuide working with AWS and Biogen. BrainGuide is a first-of-its-kind platform that empowers people with knowledge and resources to take the best next steps in managing their own or a loved one’s brain health.
