Equipment manufacturers who manage their aftermarket service effectively can earn more revenue from spare parts sales, increase profitability, improve service outcomes, and strengthen loyalty from both customers and dealers. Manufacturers who haven’t matured their aftermarket service are vulnerable to poor customer outcomes, competing with dealers for service market share, and increased risk of displacement by gray market suppliers.

Manufacturers face operational hurdles in orchestrating their aftermarket service. After a sale, they must mobilize multiple teams to support equipment functionality throughout its lifecycle, and ensure spare parts are available for the completion of any repairs. The complexity of these operations reveals challenges in today’s manufacturing environment. Siloed operations emerge when different departments, spare parts, servicing, and warranty teams, work in isolation. This separation creates barriers to effective collaboration and results in fragmented data across multiple systems, making it difficult to maintain a complete view of service operations. These siloed operations directly contribute to elevated operational costs. When teams operate independently, processes become duplicated and coordination becomes time-consuming. This inefficiency leads to suboptimal resource allocation and limited visibility across the service chain, ultimately increasing operational expenses and impacting the manufacturer’s bottom line.

To address these challenges, Syncron offers an aftermarket Service Lifecycle Management (SLM) platform that transforms how manufacturers manage their aftermarket operations and service organizations.

In this blog, you will learn how Syncron’s Service lifecycle Management (SLM) can modernize your aftermarket services on AWS.

Syncron’s SLM platform consolidates aftermarket activities

Syncron was founded 35 years ago with the goal of making it easier to stock and sell spare parts. Currently it has 200+ leading enterprise customers across the globe. Syncron’s aftermarket solutions include spare parts Price, Contract Price, Inventory Planning, and Warranty.

Recently, they added the SLM Data Platform to this offering, hosted on AWS. This new centralized tool integrates data across service, parts, and warranty operations (both from Syncron’s solutions and external data sources), resulting in a fully connected business ecosystem.

This holistic approach aligns decision-making across departments, replaces fragmented systems with a unified, data-driven solution and enhances agility, enabling businesses to quickly respond to market shifts. Figure 1 illustrates how SLM Data platform integrates data across Syncron’s solution and data sources.

This new approach empowers field teams to gain immediate access to data for better on-the-spot decisions with lower downtime and coordination. On a second level, it supports data scientists to explore data, gather insights and build data products such as analytics dashboards and AI models. This unlock use-cases that were not possible before. Last, managers and executives get access to analytics and dashboards, ensuring decisions are aligned with long-term business goals.

Customer Use Cases

Instant data access to after-market data
With SLM Data Platform, customers can receive 10x more data from their Service Lifecycle applications. Manufacturers instantly access clean, curated and ready-for-action data from all their after-market activities in a single pane of glass. This allows for scalable and safe data access, following pre-set governance guidelines, so that many teams build their own insights and machine learning (ML) models. Bypassing data extraction and harmonization speeds up the operationalization of data for faster business insights.

Analytics Hub for data analyst
Using SLM Data Platform, customers can locate, combine and query datasets to build shareable data stories. They can surface these as a source for existing data visualization tools so that the information distributes to different teams.

Creation of data products
Last, manufacturers can build their own data products (e.g. a custom spare parts pricing or a stock optimization ML model) from all the data and make them available from Syncron’s SLM Data Platform. Leveraging Syncron’s experience, they have identified 30+ pre-defined use-cases (some valued over $1 M dollars by end-customers) which can be enabled and integrated with an existing manufacturer process.

Solution Architecture

At the heart of Syncron’s SLM Data Platform is a powerful data ecosystem that unifies multiple sources—pricing, contracts, parts planning, and warranty data—into a single, intelligent framework. This consolidation enables businesses to transform raw data into meaningful insights that drive efficiency and profitability. The platform built on AWS consists of following key components:

  • Data Landing Zone
A secure, scalable foundation for multi-tenant data ingestion from multiple sources built on Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3). The data Landing zone contains both structured and unstructured data
  • Data Product Framework
A structured approach to curating and deploying datasets tailored to Syncron’s OEM operating model leveraging AWS Glue.
  • Multi-Tenant Data.all Setup
Ensuring customer data isolation and governance while maintaining operational efficiency by adopting data.all, AWS’s open source development framework that helps build a data marketplace on AWS.
  • Unified Data Access
Delivers real-time data access enabling customers to make informed decisions. The platform features: Intuitive visualizations that simplify complex data, Seamless data exports for integration with external systems and Advanced AI and analytics capabilities for predictive insights.
