Whether you're new to generative AI or looking to break into the field, AWS AI & ML Scholars, in collaboration with Udacity, helps students globally learn foundational AI skills to prepare for future careers in technology. Through a comprehensive AI training program designed by AWS experts, students will get hands-on experience with real-world projects and learn from AI experts.

How AWS AI & ML Scholars works

AWS AI & ML Scholars is made up of two phases, the Challenge Phase and Nanodegree Phase. When you apply to the program, you will be auto-enrolled into the Challenge Phase, which will be open from May 28 to August 1. As you navigate the Challenge Phase you will gain foundational knowledge of Generative AI, and create your own app using AWS PartyRock.

After successful completion of the challenge phase, if you are selected to participate in the Nanodegree Phase, you will dive deeper into how Generative AI aligns with a future career in tech. When applying, choose between three courses

  • Future AWS AI Scientist
  • Future AWS Business Intelligence Engineer
  • Future AWS AI Engineer

In the courses you will use Amazon GenAI tools to work through real world use cases.

The program covers the full cost of a 4 month Nanodegree through Udacity. The program is designed to help learners get started with AI and ML with no prior technical knowledge required.

Specialized learning tracks

Join one of three learning tracks with real-world projects to build job-ready AI skills

Build a strong technical foundation to launch your career in AI and ML. In this track, you’ll learn:

  • Advanced Python for data analysis and visualization
  • Train ML models using PyTorch
  • Explore cutting-edge neural networks like transformers.

With hands-on projects and real-world applications, you’ll graduate ready to tackle complex AI challenges and contribute to the future of intelligent systems.

Unlock the power of no-code AI to drive smarter business decisions. This track teaches you how to:

  • Build AI-powered apps with Amazon Q Business
  • Automate workflows
  • Tell compelling data stories with data.

You’ll learn to create intuitive, scalable solutions, no coding required, that boost productivity and deliver real business impact.

Become an AI engineer with deep expertise in building secure, responsible, and scalable generative AI systems. You’ll work with tools like:

  • Amazon SageMaker
  • Amazon Bedrock
  • Implement responsible AI practices
  • Build intelligent agents using Python and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG).

This track prepares you to lead real-world AI projects with confidence and a strong commitment to safety and accountability.

The program skills guide outlines the course concepts, projects, and skills students will learn throughout the program including the Introducing Generative AI with AWS course, AI Programming with Python nanodegree, and AWS ML Fundamentals nanodegree. 

The Challenge Phase consists of a 20 hour course to learn the fundamentals of GenAI. The self-paced Nanodegrees take 3 months to complete.
