About Institute for Health Metrics

Institute for Health Metrics (IHM) is a nonprofit providing data services to hospitals nationally. As a result, we extract structured and non-structured data from the hospital clinical information system, reaching well beyond claims data and including thousands of data elements per patient, such as lab results, drugs given and when they were given and patient locations throughout their hospital stay. This data, including notes, provides a picture of both the patient's journey throughout their stay as well as the physician care narrative.
