Very good experience with IRONSCALES email security and phishing modules

  • September 05, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
IRONSCALES is a great email security tool and they have a ton of pre packaged phishing templates that are ready to go. The new additions on the reporting side of the phishing module have been great. After the phishing campaign closes, it can automatically send emails to all the interested parties of my choosing showing the campaign results in an executive ready format. This saves me valuable time in preparing a report to upper management.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would like to be able to preview the hyperlinks when previewing a phishing campaign template. Currently, I have to create a test campaign to see how the hyperlinks will display from a user standpoint.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Currently we have no problems with the Ironscales platform.

Helps to alert users about phishing activities and spam emails

  • August 12, 2024
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

The tool runs on an API, and it communicates with all of our users' inboxes. The tool is just for keeping spam in check and, more importantly, to deal with the dangerous phishing emails out of our users' hands. It can see if it lets something pass and it goes to the inbox, then after 20 minutes, if it gets new information that it is a potentially dangerous email, the solution will yank it right out of the user's inbox.

What is most valuable?

With the tool, users can report things that they think are phishing activities, meaning it allows IRONSCALES to take another look at it and then determine the final disposition, which is a good feature. More importantly, we just kind of let it run and do its thing, and then the tool comes up with two to three possibilities. If something is clean, we never hear from IRONSCALES. If it is spam, it will be categorized as spam. If an email is considered to be a phishing email, it'll categorize it as a phishing activity. If an email is spam or comes under the phishing category, the tool will pull the email out of the inboxes so that it is not available.

What needs improvement?

I think the tool can continue to hone the product to ensure the detections are accurate. The tool also involves some crowdsourcing. It is a pretty good product. We use IRONSCALES in conjunction with Proofpoint since the latter tool is an email gateway. Between IRONSCALES and Proofpoint, the idea of filtered security solutions, especially with emails because phishing is so dangerous, has kept us from harm for five-plus years.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using IRONSCALES for three years. I am a customer of the tool.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is a totally stable solution. The tool has never had downtime.

How are customer service and support?

I can't rate the support of IRONSCALES because our support comes through the company we got the tool from, and it is called Constant Edge. Constant Edge is a reseller of the tool to SMBs because IRONSCALES doesn't want to get caught up with just 100 user licenses since it is just too small for it to worry about. Constant Edge has done an incredible job of providing support to our company. Constant Edge also provides our company with Proofpoint.

How was the initial setup?

The company we get IRONSCALES from is not big enough to sell the product directly.

The solution can be deployed in a day.

One person can deploy the solution.

What about the implementation team?

My organization got the tool from Constant Edge out of the UK, and they came in and set it all up for us.

What was our ROI?

The email security management costs take up a large portion of our IT security budget because everybody needs security in our company. We really have to watch out for trying to keep our users in a safe zone.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The tool is affordable. Our company has a pretty tight IT budget. We had to make room for IRONSCALES in our budget, and we have kept it since, after three years, we plan to renew it. The tool is not very cheap, but it is affordable. It is much cheaper to have the tool than to have a phishing email get clicked and see your whole network being brought down. On a scale of one to ten, if ten means it is an expensive tool, I rate the product's price as six or seven.

What other advice do I have?

The AI engine is, like anything else that is similar to machine learning, so it is going to get smarter as time goes on. In our company, we put a lot of time into the tool to see if it detects something that is clean, making sure that it understands that it was not a malicious email. The tool has become pretty darn smart at this point.

If there is a situation where I need to manage the tool, I would say that there is an AI engine for the product, Themis Copilot, for Microsoft Outlook. When the tool pulls an email, it says that even though it pulled it out, it cannot give it a final disposition, so I won't know if it is spam or phishing activity. In that case, you need to go in and manually let the tool know that a particular email is spam, is associated with some phishing activity, or is clean. The tool tries to improve the accuracy of the machine learning and AI aspects. Occasionally, the tool requires some manual intervention.

IRONSCALES has gotten smarter as our company has trained the machine learning and improved the AI engine, and it has reached to the point now that it is set and forgotten. We visit the tool maybe once a week just to make sure that there are no emails that haven't given a final disposition.

I recommend the tool to others, along with Proofpoint.

I rate the tool a nine out of ten.

Applies AI automation to clearly identify and stop a lot of phishing emails

  • March 13, 2024
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is most valuable?

The solution captures a bit more of the unknown, quantifies it, and applies intelligence to it to pick out and stop a lot of phishing emails that come through. The solution improved our response to phishing attempts. IRONSCALES has a virtual assistant and some AI intelligence that's applied to it. That was the main differentiator between IRONSCALES and Microsoft.

The solution's AI automation clearly identifies phishing emails and gives you an overall indication of why it found the mail to be malicious. It does the whole analysis for you to see why the email was deemed a phishing email. The solution's response time is better than that of our previous tool. The solution's user interface is pretty straightforward and user-friendly.

What needs improvement?

IRONSCALES should bundle more features together instead of separating them and charging additional licensing fees. The solution’s scalability could be improved.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using IRONSCALES for one year.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I rate the solution a seven out of ten for scalability.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We did a side-by-side comparison of Microsoft and IRONSCALES. Microsoft generally has a lot of features, but for me, Microsoft is behind in terms of the more advanced and smarter solutions. I wouldn't recommend using Microsoft as a main filter for email protection. IRONSCALES performed better in terms of what it was catching than Microsoft.

How was the initial setup?

The solution’s initial setup was straightforward.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

IRONSCALES is an expensive solution. The solution has certain add-on features, and its pricing depends on how you scale it. You have to pay additional licensing fees for some specific features.

What other advice do I have?

IRONSCALES has a pretty smart technology, which is different from the traditional gateway kind of technology.

Overall, I rate the solution an eight out of ten.

Great Solution for SMB

  • January 03, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Ironscales is very easy to use and easy to manage.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only thing it needs to do is integrate with PSA tools for MSPs. The alerts are not friendly for the team to receive as they have to be manually tied to each business when they come in so a ticket can be worked.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Email security is what Ironscales focuses on solving for businesses.

The fastest and most efficient way securing your emails and protecting your users

  • July 13, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Fast implementation, excellent support 24/7 with answers in minutes. Setup was a breeze in our Exchange environment, the newly added Investigation functionality saves our teams hours per day compared to our previous solution, Most important, Ironscales listens to user input and enhances the product very regulary with new releases. The amount of blocked spam and phising emails using the Themis (AI) automatic classification is impressive with a very low number needing manual check.
What do you dislike about the product?
The training modules lack a bit of overview, especially by not allowing multiple trainings grouped. This is however just a minor inconvenience which doesn't limit the solution at all.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ironscales helps us in the fight against the growing amount of BCE, Impersonation, spam and phishing emails in an easy way, Not only are inboxes continiously scanned and suspicious mails reported, the users also have a report button where they can flag doubtful emails. The simulation and training modules are well intergrated and allow us to setup a campaign in minutes, in multiple languages with added trainings for those who are lured in clicking or entering details in a phishing simulation email.

Seamless & transparent integration with our O356 / Outlook application across all platforms, local desktop, cloud / owa or mobile devices. Quick remediation & analyst feedback.

Weekly reporting could be a bit more in-depth. As an IT Manager, I need to know "threat patterns or trends" specific to our team so I can better work w/our users.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The biggest problem it solves is email security & allows us to be more productive. By minimizing spam, phishing & malware threats, we can confidently focus on important email correspondence w/our team, vendors & customers.

Perfect Email Protection

  • January 24, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Ironscales helped us tremendously to reduce the number of both scam/phishing and spam emails our employees receive and other previous solutions where not able to identify as scam/spam.
What do you dislike about the product?
Only dislike is that some of our automatically synchronized accounts are not employee accounts (service accounts for example), however they always get enrolled automatically after sync.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It drastically reduced the amount of scam and spam emails we receive. Identifying a very high percentage of unwanted emails.

IRONSCALES is one of the BEST email security solutions on the market solving phishing and BEC

  • May 13, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
IRONSCALES has a fantastic AI and uses that plus the community aspect to quickly identify email security threats (phishing, BEC attacks, Account takeovers, and more).
With the reporting button and other tools, the system is easy to use for regular folks as well as security pros.
Integrations with NINJIO and phishing simulations really take this tool up a notch.
What do you dislike about the product?
IRONSCALES technology quickly catches phishing emails and allows removal from mailboxes; however, they are delivered first in most cases. Because of this it is possible to be a victim before the message is flagged.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Email security (phishing, BEC attacks)
Phishing simulations (part of awareness/training/measurement)
