Infrastructure automation thrives but advanced dashboard features need improvement

  • July 24, 2025
  • Review from a verified AWS customer

What is our primary use case?

They are using Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform for infrastructure automation and cloud automation. The platform is used for CI/CD automation, deployment, and automation. The main use is infrastructure automation.

What is most valuable?

Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform is easy to integrate. The platform is simple to use.

What needs improvement?

The dashboarding capabilities should be improved by bringing CMP (Cloud Management Platform) into Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform. Event-Driven Ansible is very important in the platform. Both Event-Driven Ansible and cloud management platform features are crucial improvements needed.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform since 2018, which is more than seven to eight years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability of Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform is excellent, deserving a 10 out of 10 rating.

How are customer service and support?

The technical support is not adequate. The Ansible sales and technical support services need significant improvement.

How would you rate customer service and support?

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform comes with a high price point. Even though we use the platform, we need additional dashboarding tools because the complete infrastructure as code dashboard capability is missing.

Red Hat introduced a new product called Red Hat Developer Hub for platform engineering. While Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform is very good for automation, deserving an 8 out of 10 rating, the cost of combining Red Hat Developer Hub and Ansible is extremely high, which presents a significant challenge with the Red Hat product.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

In AWS, customers are increasingly using Terraform rather than Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform. This is particularly true for cloud-based operations on AWS.

The choice between solutions depends on the situation. Developers tend to be more inclined towards Terraform, while infrastructure teams prefer Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform.

What other advice do I have?

We are still actively working with Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform. Customers typically purchase directly from Red Hat for on-premise deployments, while those on public cloud buy from the marketplace.

We are recommending the solution to users as a Red Hat partner.

This review rates Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform a 10 out of 10.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Hybrid Cloud

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

Amazon Web Services (AWS)

What do you like best about the product?
I like the seamless integration with GitHub, and the event driven automation capabilities
What do you dislike about the product?
It is expensive and I wish that there was a way that I could empower non technical users to own their automations more
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps us have a central host of automation and orchestration platform. It benefits us by allowing us to trigger decently complex Workflows and maintain version control via git

Utilizing automation for administrative tasks is streamlined, but dashboards need enhancement

  • March 18, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

I use Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform for automating some administrative tasks. Specifically, I utilize it for system administration tasks.

What is most valuable?

Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform is valuable due to the simplicity of the YAML language. It makes it simple to develop Ansible playbooks and roles, which aids in simplifying my daily administrative tasks.

What needs improvement?

I would like to see improvements in the dashboards. More detailed dashboards would be beneficial because there is a lack of dashboards on Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform for three years, while using satellites for about three or four years.

What was my experience with deployment of the solution?

It was easy to set up Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform, not too complicated.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I have not really encountered any stability issues with Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I have not tested the scalability of Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform, but I believe it is a mature product and can handle scalability.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have not worked with other automation tools. Currently, I am only testing Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was easy. It took approximately one day.

What about the implementation team?

I implemented the solution by myself, in-house.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I know Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform costs money since I am using a trial license. The pricing is high, and since I'm not using all functionalities, it would be better if the price depended on the functionalities used.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I did not evaluate any other solutions before going with Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform.

What other advice do I have?

I rate Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform as seven out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

On-premises

EDA is useful for self healing approach

  • May 14, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
One of the best features about Ansible is it being agentless and also using yaml helps simplifying the learning curve
What do you dislike about the product?
AAP doesn't help much if there is a peculiar complex scenario so would have to work around to implement the use case
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are primarly using Ansible for configuration management which solves our issues with discrepancy across multiple environments.

    Government Administration

Ansible Tower is great, but has a few limitations.

  • May 08, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I really like deploying ansible playbook collections from Git and I am able repeately run tasks on a given schedule
What do you dislike about the product?
What I don't like is more of an underlying Ansbile. When running an ansible playbook, Ansible requires root (All) bespoke privilages, instead of a sudoer profile that gives explict commands only. There are work arounds for this, but why does root need to print out an echo prompt as root? (as can be seen with ansible-playbook -vvvv).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This allows us a very geneneric (in a very good way), automation platform that is agentless.
