The Red Hat Automation Platform does take a small learning curve, but is its own language.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The amount of time it takes to deploy automation to an entire range or multiple ranges of servers is extensive. Ansible Automation Platform provides a consistent and simple interface to manage it all.

Ansible is a great configuration management product

  • May 07, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
What we like about Ansible is that is assists in scaling configuration as well as infrastructure as code management.
What do you dislike about the product?
The error messages leave something to be desired.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Currently Ansible is used as our solution for all continous integration and application of our changes to the entire infrastrucutre. Additionally, we use ansible for our kickstart provisioning where we implement ansible roles to build, test, and deploy new assets. As well as make dynamic changes to our network utilizing a CI/CD pipeline.

We used Ansible Automation Platform to run some playbooks automatically to maintain Quay updates.

What do you like best about the product?
It's really simple to use, it's faster. It's easier for us to run our playbooks without issues.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think that it can improave some features, but for me know it is ok.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have a big issue with Quay Registry. Our users create a lot of repositories, but withour tell us about that. We have a Quay mirror running, if we did not maintein the same status in both quays, we will have a problem when we need some image of Quay Mirror. The automation runs everyday to solve this issue and Ansible Automation Platform help us with this.

Summit 2024

What do you like best about the product?
The ease of setup using the openshift operator. It is the swiss army knife of our red hat environment.
What do you dislike about the product?
Outside of support there are very few features and reasons to purchase tower vs AWX.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The single biggest problem AAP solves for us is deployment of new server resources. No matter if it is virtual, bare metal, or cloud resources AAP allows us to complete automate the setup and configuration of base operating systems. It is extremely easy to use and quick.

Helps automate complex tasks and saves a lot of time and money

  • May 07, 2024
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

We use it for firewall upgrades and backups. That is pretty much it for now because it has been only a year.

How has it helped my organization?

Ansible Automation Platform has saved a lot of time, man-hours, and money. Specifically for the upgrades, there have been a lot of time savings.

It keeps us in compliance. It helps with compliance drifting and keeping us up to date with code.

It helps to reduce the number of steps involved in automating things. Everything is performed consistently every time. There are no missed steps. If you do it manually, you might miss a step. With Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform, it is just the same every time, which is good.

Ansible Automation Platform does not reduce the training required to learn how to automate things. There is a lot more overhead and a lot more training to teach how to use Ansible.

Ansible Automation Platform helps connect teams, such as developers, operations, or security so that they can automate together. Our engineering team can now collaborate or work with our operations team. We build the Ansible solution, and they run the solution. There is more teamwork.

We use the collection of certified content. It is 80% there for helping to quickly add automation to our systems. It is decent.

Ansible Automation Platform has helped to reduce the time we spend on low-value or repetitive tasks by 80%.

What is most valuable?

Automation is valuable. It saves us time in performing tedious tasks or repetitive tasks.

What needs improvement?

The web GUI can be a little bit better. There should be a couple of more features.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this solution for about a year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is very scalable. We are planning to increase its usage.

How are customer service and support?

Their support is decent. They are responsive. I would rate them a nine out of ten.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We have not used any other similar solution.

We do use other Red Hat products. We use Red Hat Enterprise Linux because that is the enterprise standard that we have across the company. That is the one they use across the board. The support is the main reason for choosing Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

We do not use any Red Hat solutions in the public cloud.

How was the initial setup?

It is on-prem. Its deployment was a little difficult the first time, but after that, it got progressively simpler.

What about the implementation team?

We deployed it ourselves.

What was our ROI?

We are able to automate complex tasks and make them more streamlined with just one button.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

It is a little pricey but it is affordable. It is not that bad.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We did not evaluate any other solution.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate Ansible Automation Platform a ten out of ten. It has helped us go from manual to automation. We are still far away, but it is getting us on the right path. It is getting us there. It is great.
