Statistical Analysis using R
What do you like best about the product?
R makes it very easy to combine data manipulation with statistical analysis. Predictive analytics are easy to derive insights from in the same tool that you would use for data extraction and manipulation.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are some issues with R when trying to production tables and outputs where a language like python would work better. Also the SQL interface when using RMarkdown is not always reliable.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With R we are able to parse data, perform data cleanup, and run geolocation analysis through available packages.

Brackets for JS
What do you like best about the product?
I like the ease of use of Brackets for programmers.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is too large to install. So make it small.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Write applications.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Use this and you will like it. Perfect app! I had pleasure using it.
IDE for any Data Analyst
What do you like best about the product?
There are a couple different reasons. 1) Being able to use have all the many features of the R language in a succinct interface enhances productivity so well. 2). The R community and the packages behind the R language give any user the necessary tools to do anything under the sun. It is just finding the right package and then understanding how it should be utilized within the current application one is using. 3). The aesthetic of the UI feels natural and helps the experience to be easy and straightforward.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is built on a web-based platform, there are times that the connection between the R kernel and the IDE. It can be annoying.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Well, most of our business data problems have been solved using Excel. Being that Excel is a wonderful tool it has helped. However, it has been difficult to reproduce our analysis. Of course, there is the ability to save multiple copies of the data, but at the end of the day, there isn't a way to easily version an excel file which R and Rstudio have been able to give the RMarkdown and R Notebook structure.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
There is a learning curve to the scripting language of R and look overwhelming to those who have not had a background in coding. However, RStudio is the best way to start as it aids the user by giving easy visibility to the data and the R package environment which are both essential elements of the R language.
Useful free software
What do you like best about the product?
I like that everything is customizable. Very useful for plotting data, making graphs and doing calculations for data analysis.
What do you dislike about the product?
Steep learning curve to get familiar with the software and use all of the functionalities. However, there are online tutorials available, as well as classes at most major universities.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am doing calculations e.g. statistics for data analysis, and making figures for publications towards my doctoral degree.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Very useful tool once the basics are down for doing statistics and creating aesthetically professional plots / graphs / figures.
Better than nothing
What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate the variety of options that RStudio provides. In other words, you could either programming with R or managing data sets or do both simultaneously. That's really conviniety as you shouldn't switch between different sofwares.
What do you dislike about the product?
Poor ( in my opinion) and non-friendly interface.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I tried to solve anything, but faced far from intuitive interface and stopped using RStudio.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try it before running Stata if applicable.
Nice IDE -- Flexible and easy way to write R code
What do you like best about the product?
* Flexibility of R
* Nice and lightweight IDE
* Nice and lightweight IDE
What do you dislike about the product?
* it does not provide simple ways to export outcomes in general (mainly graphics)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I conduct a lot of quantitative research. R and RStudio play essential role on running statistical tests, performing predictive analysis and creating graphics to report my research.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
RStudio is flexible, nice and powerful enough to enable conducting quantitative research. There is a bunch of libraries out there providing features for very different kinds of needs
RStudio
What do you like best about the product?
The graphics provided by RStudio are optimal for presentations and visualizations of data. There are almost too many options for how to display information.
What do you dislike about the product?
You need to have a pretty good understanding of coding for RStudio to work well.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I've been using RStudio for research results and evaluation. It makes great graphics for posters and presentations.
R Studio
What do you like best about the product?
This program is easy to use if you come from a computer programming background. It is straight forward and the data it gives back is easy to read. There are many forums on the internet that will assist users in learning the code.
What do you dislike about the product?
Learning how to use the code aspect of the program can be cumbersome. It takes a lot of practice and repetition. Take time to learn the coding that you need to run your stats. This process often takes longer than running the data as things will not run unless the code is 100% correct.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Data analysis is often faster and easier for many people to understand after the coding process is learned.

Statistics
What do you like best about the product?
R is good for statistics and data visualizations
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike R's data structures for munging through the data
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Machine Learning purposes are popular in R, however Python libraries are more extensive
Nice interface of using R with lots of useful functionalities
What do you like best about the product?
It provides a nice way to navigate through one's data as well as one's script. Various ways to package the script and present it together with the graph (using RMardown). Autofill of variable name.
What do you dislike about the product?
I have mostly positive experience with it. If I have to be picky (and this is me being lazy...), when using R on Mac, one can drag a file into the console to get the path to the file. But one cannot do that with RStudio console.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm still in graduate school (Brain and Cognitive Sciences), so I most it use it to analyze behavioral and neural data (mixed-effects models, etc.) or use it to run simulations (MCMC).
