I wish I use it in 2010
What do you like best about the product?
I love how it brings simulation and testing all under one roof. You can tinker, tweak, and see how things behave without the real-world mess. It’s crazy user-friendly. You don't need a PhD in rocket science to get results. It's like having your own virtual lab where you can experiment and fine-tune designs, making the whole engineering process a total joyride.
What do you dislike about the product?
If there's one hiccup with Simcenter 3D, it's that sometimes the complexity can get a bit overwhelming. Wrapping your head around all the bells and whistles might need a little patience.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps me catch issues early, so I can fine-tune before production. It's like having a crystal ball that predicts problems before they happen. This not only boosts my design confidence but also cuts down on costly fixes down the road.

Simcenter is the most comprehensive and complete tool you can have to perform simulations.
What do you like best about the product?
T?he ocmplete integration with CAD environment makes it the aboslute ruler software for Simulations/Design. The wide range of simulations capabilities offers a 360 degree tool.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some procedures are too complicated and not intuitive. Support is often needed jsut to complete some operations, both in CAD and in Simulations
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Mechanical and thermal analysis, both static and dynamic. You can monitor the performance of the Design in roder to produce a First Time Right deliverable.
Linear FEM simulations
What do you like best about the product?
Simcenter 3D is nicely integrated with siemens NX which enhances the user experience. It makes it easy to go from the CAD to the FEM.
What do you dislike about the product?
Automatic element size is often a factor 2 to large in my experience
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Make design madifications based on the FEM results
Good link between CAD and FEM
What do you like best about the product?
I like the fact that there is a good link between CAD and FEM. This allows to do quick design iterations. I also like the fact that I can work with orphan meshes and recreate the geometry.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes the orphan meshes flow is not working smoothly. There are issues with the offsets and stitch. Sometimes visualisation has bugs like wrong colors and sometimes it is not easy to select.
Selection of coordinate frames is an enigma, very bad an inconsistent.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Used for update of legacy models and mesh of complex composite models.
Used for quick studies related to buckling.
Used for load fileld transfer between different models.

A software for everyone
What do you like best about the product?
Broad range of applications and user friendly interface.
What do you dislike about the product?
Documentation available. Or, if it is available, difficulty to find the relevant documentation and examples.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Simcenter 3D is a useful when it comes to end-to-end product development. It is great to be able to adjust designs and directly see how such change influences the results.
Very user friendly product
What do you like best about the product?
Simcenter 3D is very user friendly. The graphics are good. The lay-out is well made and working through it is very inuative.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some functions have a lacking example, or lacking explanation on how to use it. As an example I wanted to create some results variables, and a results Probe so I could define a formula that would automatically process the results in each of the nodes/elements. I now found an example on YouTube but I would've preferred finding examples on this functions on your website. Or maybe if it is there, be better instructed on where to find these examples.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is helping with verifying the designs that I'm creating. Think of strength, fatigue, etc.
All software you need in one package
What do you like best about the product?
Fantastic user support! Always answering to e-mails and they are open to suggestions to make the software better.
SC3D is suitable for automation (I like a lot that we can use Python and C).
Attributes and especially the fact that you can create user attributes is very important, but there is some room of improvement here.
Parametric models linked with HEEDS is wonderful, but again here is some more to be developed.
Selections techniques and selection recipes save a lot of time in pre and post processing.
The fact that there are objects like NFR save a lot of time, this can be extended to some other objects (as extractions).

What do you dislike about the product?
There is some inconsistency between modules (like different behavior between FEM / SIM / PRT).
Some work for making the flow more robust (sometimes updates are failing, like stitch).
There can be some improvement for the QA process and also there are engineering issues:
- inconsistency in units in formulas
- vectors with arrows and signs
- coordinate transformation always projected

Static linear and non-linear Simulations for Aerospace
We use it in day-to-day simulations; it closes the gap between CAD and Analysis.
Unfortunately it is hard to quickly increase the productivity, as the tool is very complex and needs a very long learning curve. For example people are puzzled that they need to jump to file to file and that the CAD from FEM is different than the CAD from PRT.

Excellent integrated enviroment
What do you like best about the product?
Detailed documentation. Easy way to retrieve command locations via search tool. Integrated environment.
What do you dislike about the product?
Different behavior between Post Processing Navigator and Scenario Based data-Visualization.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Durability performance of powertrain systems.
Simcenter 3D Motion is excellent tool for rigid multi-body dynamics
What do you like best about the product?
Simcenter 3D Motion provides excellent versatility for mechanism modeling, with an extensive feature set (constraints, applied forces/torques, efficient analytical contact, various mechanical elements, ability to utilize external data, use of sub-models, post-processing, etc.). It is generally easy to use and will be familiar to NX users. Documentation is extensive and the software is stable. Relatively recent features additions to help with managing model configurations and parameter studies are very helpful.
What do you dislike about the product?
Managing the software licenses is more time-consuming than it needs to be, and there is little transparency with respect to functionality and token cost for additional modules. There are some aspects of managing model inputs/outputs that can be frustrating, such as wading through long unordered lists of functions/expressions.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
My business uses Simcenter 3D Motion regularly for simulating products across their lifecycle -- from early development to production to eventual retirement. Models in Simcenter 3D Motion help us evaluate design options, tune product performance, understand observed failures, assess decision implications, etc.
It's tremendous to get all my work done on one platform.
What do you like best about the product?
I can simulate real life in virtual environment.
What do you dislike about the product?
Command windows are very tight when you first open them. :D
