Panopto is a good video solution
What do you like best about the product?
I find the cloud-based system to be easy to administer and troubleshoot.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing. It does it’s job and stuff stuff
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It’s a lecture recoding system that allows for other video uses, should they be needed.
Been using Panopto for years and love it
What do you like best about the product?
The ease of use and functionalities, integration with our LMS and Zoom.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not being able to chat in real time, that feature would really enhance the software.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's solving our lecture capture issue for our students and also a repository for all our other content.
Very Positive Experience
What do you like best about the product?
Ease of creating recordings from the web browser without the need to download the Panopto software. Very good integration with Canvas. For the most part Panopto support is very responsive. I have had a few issues where they were quick to close my ticket without a resolution or further discussion so I could understand a work around.
What do you dislike about the product?
Right now our Browse >All Folders is loading extremely slow. I have put in a ticket but it is not resolved yet. This causes a lot of frustration and wasted time when I am trying to troubleshoot instructor issues or move recordings around.
I wish Panopto had an "act as user" feature so I could better troubleshoot without having to get in a live Microsoft Teams meeting with an instructor and have them share their screen with me to troubleshoot.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ease of recording class lectures for students to play back for studying for exams later. Recording of live events on campus.
Multifaceted solution for Learning and Engagement
What do you like best about the product?
The upsides for Panopto is the non destructive editing. Almost seemless ability to capture from multiple sources. Bringing interactivity to what could be just a run of he mill talking head. Inclusion of AI. Customer support is pretty good, they have gotten back to me when I needed help.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think here could be a few improvements to remote recorder. I think the platform should be device agnotic sometimes.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Capturing Lecture video for student to review and learn conceps discussed in graduate coursess. Capturing sympossiums and events for archival purposes.
Panopto - a great way to create and share videos in higher ed
What do you like best about the product?
Panopto is such an easy, user-friendly tool that integrates smoothly into our LMS (both, since we recently transitions from Moodle to Canvas). I especially like how we can have it feed directly into the courses, the automatic transcription feature, and the fact that the video is searchable. On the back end, as an instructor, being able to see the statistics of who watched, when, and for how long is extremely valuable.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's not quite as easy to use for live streaming classes or webinars. I definitely believe that it is a superior video tool, but for live streaming, it pairs perfectly with Zoom, which is not a great lecture capture tool.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
creating video for classes and faculty trainings
A streamlined solution for educational videos
What do you like best about the product?
Panopto is intuitive to use. The editing tools are simple, and the analytics are concise and accessible.
What do you dislike about the product?
It can take a while to access a video to edit it - and sometimes the editing/rendering process takes a while (a countdown or clock would be helpful to understand edit times). Editing could be more robust (would like to split audio/video, incorporate text overlay or fade in/out).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Having a consistent platform for video management. Ease of incorporating professional captions into videos.
Easy to Use, Excellent Support
What do you like best about the product?
I like how easy to use Panopto is. We integrate with Canvas and most users don't even realize it's a different product. Support is also very good.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes it can be difficult to unwind exactly how to share videos. This often is the result of users not understanding the process and sending links instead of embedding videos. It's a user error, but something that we can to untangle periodically.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Panipto video up time is excellent. I also like the auto captioning that it provides and an interactive transcript to find certain key words in a lecture.
Video Made Easy
What do you like best about the product?
Panopto can be used by anyone: it has features for novice users who want a quick video to seasoned creators who need multiple sources. I can teach any faculty or staff member to use it in minutes. We even use it to have a visual record of role-specific tasks to capture tribal knowledge. I use it either with faculty, staff, or students weekly if not daily.
What do you dislike about the product?
Editing in Panopto is not as robust as I wish it was. I wish it could be my one-stop-shop and allow for additions of annotations, transitions, audio/video separation, and stream locking for editing multiple streams.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Panopto allows me to make interactive videos that are secure, and it offers my students and course users the same ability. I love that I can hook it to my grade book and do content checks in the video. It makes walking through tasks with faculty and staff easy, and the fact that our entire institution has access to it means it serves as a repository of knowledge.
I Have Been A Panopto Fan for Over 20 Years
What do you like best about the product?
Panopto is constantly innovating and improving its services. I met the founders of Panopto on the exhibit floor at the Pittsburg at the 2004 ACM/IEEE Supercomputing Conference, and they gave me two licenses for their Lecture Capture (one license for Clark University and a second for The Interdenominational Theological Center). Twenty years later, I participated in a Panopto demo of their video management system and within a month, I was replacing my existing Medial video management system with Panopto. Panopto offered twice as many innovative engagement tools within the video player and management system as my existing service at a much lower cost. I was so pleased to see how far Panopto had come in 20 years and excited to be working with them again at Columbia Theological Seminary.
What do you dislike about the product?
When compared to other video management and video capture services, there has been nothing I have disliked about Panopto.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With Panopto, out faculty can easily add videos to their instruction. Faculty can upload or record videos quickly and add them to our Moodle LMS. We also have set up a few video capture systems for our classrooms, so lecture capture can be done easily in face-to-face classes and the videos can appear in the courses Moodle site.
10+ years of great experiences with Panopto
What do you like best about the product?
I was part of the cross-departmental team that selected Panopto as the best platform for our course recordings years ago and have continued as an admin and support staff member for years, finding their updates continue to make the tools more effective for our faculty and students and more efficient to manage over time.
It integrates beautifully with Canvas, and before that with Blackboard and our meeting recordings from Zoom have always been implemented well. Users who record directly with the Panopto recorder have noted it offers more functions and better results.

What do you dislike about the product?
Our initial subscription was under a different pricing structure and while I understand the changes over the last few years that have ballooned the use of recording and required new management approaches, it would have been helpful to have more of the great dashboards that they've always implemented for viewing stats on a user basis available for data on the admin side. They've made improvements to managing the total storage as we scripted policies, but I had to figure out how to manipulate the raw data to get the reports I needed at thie time to clean up our original data.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We handle all our course recordings through Panopto and internal training videos used for faculty and staff
