We use Qumulo for end-user storage and some application storage as well.

Provides rolling updates and all-day availability
What is our primary use case?
How has it helped my organization?
Qumulo has helped our organization concerning computer storage and speed. The performance and reliability have gone up as well. There is not nearly as much outage because we can easily set every update onto the second cluster. We experience just a split second of downtime, and our end users don't experience downtime, which is a lot better than what we used to have.
What is most valuable?
The most valuable features of Qumulo are its rolling updates and all-day availability. No failover is available in Qumulo by default, but we discussed it with our Qumulo contact and enabled a failover. If we have a disaster with our file server, nothing is recoverable. However, with Kumolo, we have a failover and a second cluster standing dormant.
What needs improvement?
Initially, the failover was supposed to be implemented in Qumulo itself. This failed to happen mid-case, so we had to devise a middleman solution. It was not the cleanest of solutions, but we did get something that worked. Some anti-theft permissions do not transfer well to Qumulo.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using Qumulo for a year and a half.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
Qumulo is a stable solution.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
We have a development cluster running, and we tested adding a third cluster or a few external nodes just in case. It turned out to be quite easy. The new nodes automatically present themselves to the existing cluster. It was just a matter of picking them up and helping them in.
At the moment, about 150 users are using Qumulo. Once we are fully finished, we'll be up in the 1,000 to 2,000 range. We have quite a large user base.
How are customer service and support?
So far, Qumulo's technical support has been very responsive and extremely helpful.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
Before Qumulo, we were using Windows Server. We switched to Qumulo because Windows Server got a little bit old and provided no high availability for a company of our size.
What about the implementation team?
We took a month to deploy Qumulo. We chose a vendor, and then it's a matter of flashing the Qumulo flow commands. After they deliver the Qumulo quite node version, it's just syncing up all the nodes into a cluster, and the rest is handled quite easily and automatically.
We had to wait about eight to nine months for the hardware to be delivered. Before we could even start thinking about deployment, everything from networks, which are the nodes themselves, took quite a while, and this wasn't Qumulo's fault. This was more of a supply issue.
Qumulo requires some maintenance, mainly the updates and upkeep of scripts.
What other advice do I have?
We are working with the latest version of Qumulo. Planning is key. We took multiple months to plan everything, which was barely enough.
Overall, I rate Qumulo an eight out of ten.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
High performance, easy to manage, and reliable
What is our primary use case?
We are using Qumulo to store live organization materials. For example, from Disney, Warner Bros, etcetera. Additionally, for online storage. I checked the quality of the media and would send it to the vendor.
How has it helped my organization?
Since using Qumulo our work at our company has been quicker and more effective.
What is most valuable?
The most valuable features of Qumulo are the ease of management and special permissions that are quick to enable. The overall performance of the solution is good.
What needs improvement?
The support for iMac and protocols should be improved, not all features are available.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using Qumulo for approximately two and a half years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
Qumulo is stable.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
The solution is scalable. You only have to add new nodes and clusters for space.
We have 15,000 using the solution.
We have petabytes of data in our environment.
How are customer service and support?
The support is easy to get a hold of them. They have 24-hour-a-day support.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
I was using Dell EMC Isilon, but it was outdated, so we switched to Qumulo.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup of Qumulo was easy with the expert we had hired.
We have to install the clusters and switches for the full installation of Qumulo.
The full process can take two to three hours.
What about the implementation team?
We used an expert engineer to help us with the implementation of the solution.
What was our ROI?
We have received a return on investment using Qumulo.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
We evaluated cloud storage and other services. However, our main partner suggested we use Qumulo.
What other advice do I have?
The solution requires general monthly maintenance.
I would suggest to others to consider this solution if they need quick assess memory. It might be too quick for regular users.
I rate Qumulo a nine out of ten.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
Useful data sharing, simple cluster scaling, and excellent support
What is our primary use case?
Our primary purpose for utilizing Qumulo was to provide a file-sharing platform for our marketing department, which also served as an archive for their videos, pictures, and other assets related to past events and marketing campaigns. They had accumulated a significant amount of older data, which they accessed through this platform, while also utilizing it as their current working file-sharing system.
How has it helped my organization?
Qumulo served as a file-sharing tool that stored our data across two clusters, one located at our production site and the other at our DR site. We implemented replication to ensure the protection of our data. All of our users, including those in the marketing department who primarily used Macs, were able to access the shared files. In essence, Qumulo functioned solely as a means of file storage.
What is most valuable?
The most valuable feature of Qumulo is the ability to share files and reliability.
What needs improvement?
One aspect of Qumulo that I hoped to see improved was its software upgrade process, which did see significant progress during my usage. Initially, upgrading the software resulted in several minutes of system downtime. However, by the time I departed last summer, the downtime had reduced to mere ten seconds. Although I am unsure if Qumulo has yet achieved a completely outage-free upgrade, I simply performed the upgrades early in the morning before the marketing department began its workday, so any downtime was inconsequential.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using Qumulo for approximately three years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
I rate the stability of Qumulo a nine out of ten.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
It has been easy to grow and add new clusters.
I rate the scalability of Qumulo an eight out of ten.
How are customer service and support?
The support I received was excellent.
I rate the support of Qumulo an eight out of ten.
How would you rate customer service and support?
Positive
How was the initial setup?
The initial deployment was straightforward.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
The price of Qumulo is reasonable.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
When we evaluated other options the reasonable price of Qumulo was one of the factors of why we choose it.
What other advice do I have?
My advice to others would be for them to try the solution out.
I rate Qumulo an eight out of ten.
