What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It can be very helpful to verify basic details of a specific record and relate the information through the structure of the table, data sharing
SAP implementation on DB2 on Linux with netapp filesystem

IBM db2 review
What do you like best about the product?
We are using db2 on daily basis in the retirement domain to store and access the data secuarly. The front view tool which is provided on top of db2 i.e. IBM data client studio or AQT is the best to deal with db2.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not as such anything which we dislike about db2.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As a software developer we use to write new scripts and integrate it with application to implement new things.
A reliable database for us over the years
What do you like best about the product?
The reliability and the stability of DB2 has been one of the standout reasons for us . We use the cloud version of DB2. On top of that, the DB2 on cloud product engineering team has been very supportive and responsive to us.
What do you dislike about the product?
the product support team's expertise, maturity, capacity and responsiveness to support requests needs improvement. Identification of root cause, prioritization of issues and resolution has enormous room for improvement.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We build cloud native business applications and products where DB2 is used as the choice of RDBMS for us.
DB2 is very versatile as a database, and supports most features.
What do you like best about the product?
It is a great product, robust, lots of flexibility, ever improving and rock solid.
What do you dislike about the product?
As data grows it become slow. Tread hung and application performance degrades.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
IBM DB2 helps us creating Data Lake solution for our client.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Easy database Implementation easy administration can be managed from any station the level of specialization is much lower than any other database.
IBM DB2 experience
What do you like best about the product?
The ease of organizing & managing data. But it has been a long while I have worked on DB2. But I like using the SQL commands.
What do you dislike about the product?
I remember there were a few issues but can't remember as it's been a while since I worked on DB2.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We were using DB2 to help reorganize our company's data to make it easier to retrieve and recover at a moment's notice in case of equipment change and/or data glitch.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's a great product with relatively easy commands to help get the job done. But since it's been a while that I've been exposed to it I can't tell you other specifics or improvements that were done.
Strong points and weak points IBM Db2
What do you like best about the product?
DB2 is a robust database and is supported by a large company like IBM. The positive points are: reliability, excellent transaction control and high availability. The database that is used by the manager has the database recovery option enabled, by default. This allows recovery of the database in the event of a system failure. By enabling the recovery option, DB2 will generate transaction logs and save them to a DB2 system directory. Over time, these logs will increase in size. The recommended way to free up space is to use the DB2 userexit function, as described in the DB2 Administration Guide. Another way to free up space on the file system is to move the inactive logs to another file system. This method is described below. To move the inactive logs to another file system, follow the steps below.
What do you dislike about the product?
DB2 should not be used for small projects and companies with little infrastructure. Another negative point would be the "weight" in the servers. Relational database of the giant IBM, DB2 does not have such a large share of the market, although it is quite robust and executable on several platforms. Used for large systems, it is optimized to work with the manufacturer's own hardware. Probably, licensing issues and business models established for it have disadvantaged its spread in recent years.

I used DB2 in a project for the financial area, in which I needed high availability and reliability in transactions. One of the best RDBMS' I have used.
What do you like best about the product?
I have primarily worked on Oracle and in my line of work when it comes to reading and writing data into a RDBMS performance is what matters the most. I have noticed that both Oracle and DB2 are on par in most instances. I havent worked much on the latest cloud based offering of DB2 though which is why I am leaving my review based on the older versions of DB2. Its scheduling ability is a big plus.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not as popular as Oracle. Finding help with DB2 specific issues were some what annoying.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
None at the moment.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The costs!!
DB2 is the best possible way you can integrate SQL to Mainframe
What do you like best about the product?
The best part in my experience was direct SQL integration int COBOL programs. I had prior SQL experience when I started writing COBOL programs I didn't face any difficulty whatsoever. Moreover there are regular upgrades which we handle, which adds to the stability and reliability of system.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is no way to preview a query result in DB2-Cobol environment, you have to go the output data set again and again. If there is a quick window to preview a query like in SQL Server etc, that would be great.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am working for an insurance client which maintains the insurance data in DB2 enviornment. They keep all the data like active policies, payment details, demographics, family details etc for each customer.
The data has to be really secure so that no one can alter the payment or do any insurance fraud, and DB2 provides that security along with Mainframe environment to an extent that whole system is comparatively really secure from hackers as compare to Oracle etc.
There are also computational benefits, it helps execute millions of rows of data in quick time which reduces costs.

User experience is very intuitive
What do you like best about the product?
Using spufi to execute queries is hassle-free
What do you dislike about the product?
Too many options in a single screen. This could be laid out well
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am executing queries and developing cobol-db2 programs which are very helpful
