IBM's planning changed my life
What do you like best about the product?
I joined CTI and met Tm1; with the arrival of Planning, all the changes we can offer to clients have changed my perspective on business.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some tools that are easy and practical to use in Excel are still not available in planning, and their limitation for creating Dashboards.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It has increased the possibilities of solutions that we can help work on for the client.
Help with the monthly closing
What do you like best about the product?
What I like most is the agility it brings to the monthly closing. The automation of allocation rules, reassignments, and consolidation allows us to close the numbers more quickly and securely. Additionally, we can validate the information in real-time, which reduces rework.
What do you dislike about the product?
During the closing, any slowdown in the environment can impact the schedule, especially with many users accessing simultaneously. The performance could be more stable during peak times, such as in the last business days of the month.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It solves the problem of lack of standardization and delays in information gathering for closing. Before, we relied on spreadsheets sent by email and a lot of manual reconciliation. Now, everything is done directly in the tool, with traceability, consistency, and much less operational effort.
Different angles of analysis and with agility
What do you like best about the product?
What pleases me the most is the ability to transform complex data into clear and actionable insights. The multidimensional structure allows for exploring information from different angles with agility, which is essential for quick and well-founded decisions.
What do you dislike about the product?
Despite its robustness, sometimes the PAW interface could be more intuitive, especially for non-technical users. Some functions are hidden or require too many clicks, which delays the user experience in simple tasks.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Resolve the slowness in data consolidation and eliminates the insecurity caused by mismatched spreadsheet versions. Now we have a single source of truth, which strengthens the consistency of analyses and improves alignment between areas.
Challenge to start using, then it's great
What do you like best about the product?
I like the ability to create custom and interactive dashboards in PAW, which greatly facilitates the communication of results with other areas of the company. The automation of processes also helps to reduce errors and gain efficiency.
What do you dislike about the product?
The initial learning curve is relatively steep, especially for users who are not familiar with the concept of cubes or with the logic of rules and feeders. This can hinder adoption by areas outside of controlling.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The tool solves the problem of decentralization of information and the difficulty of maintaining consistent versions. Now we have a single environment with always updated data, which brings more confidence to the analyses and greatly facilitates corporate performance governance.
Ease in deliveries and analysis
What do you like best about the product?
I like the flexibility that the tool offers to build custom models, tailored to the specific needs of the business. The integration with Excel via PAfE greatly facilitates data analysis and contributes to the autonomy of the controlling team in their daily activities. The performance for real-time calculations and simulations is also a strong point.
What do you dislike about the product?
Memory management and server resource consumption can be a challenge, especially in environments with large volumes of data. Additionally, the startup process of the SDATA service is not very transparent — the logs do not clearly indicate when there is reprocessing of feeders or how long the service will take to be fully available again.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
IBM Planning Analytics addresses the challenge of consolidating data from multiple areas into a single, integrated environment, allowing for fast, secure, and standardized analyses. This significantly reduces the time spent on manual spreadsheets and increases the reliability of the information used in performance management. Additionally, the ability to simulate scenarios and make projections quickly supports the company's strategic decision-making.
Enhancing Strategic Planning and Agility with TM1
What do you like best about the product?
What stands out in TM1 is the ability to model complex business scenarios without relying heavily on external spreadsheets. It brings structure to planning processes while still allowing custom logic, which is especially useful in a fast-paced financial environment.
What do you dislike about the product?
One downside of TM1 is how unintuitive some of its advanced features can be for new users. Setting up hierarchies or troubleshooting data issues often requires deep platform knowledge, which slows down onboarding and makes knowledge transfer harder within the team.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
TM1 addresses the challenge of maintaining consistency across multiple planning cycles and business units. By centralizing data and logic, it reduces versioning issues and ensures that everyone works from a single source of truth. This leads to faster validations, fewer reconciliation steps, and more confidence in the numbers during tight closing periods.
A powerful and flexible tool
What do you like best about the product?
What I like most about the tool is the fact that it is truly multidimensional and fast, it does what it sets out to do very well and its limitations do not interfere with generating a good result.
What do you dislike about the product?
The tool does not have efficient parallel processing, which can increase the execution time of activities
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
IBM Planning Analytics helps streamline monthly financial closes by automating data consolidation, enabling rapid analysis of key metrics such as revenue, expenses, profit, and tax calculations. It aids decision-making by providing accurate, near-real-time or faster insights into the bank’s financial performance.
Excellent financial planning tool
What do you like best about the product?
Using TM1 as a developer means working with a powerful, flexible, and performance-oriented platform. Its in-memory architecture ensures agility in processing, even with large volumes of data. I believe that the freedom of modeling is a great differentiator, always allowing us to deliver what was aligned with the business needs.
What do you dislike about the product?
I believe that the user interface visualization for PAW is still very limited, resulting in screens that are not very responsive in terms of UX.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
By working with a large volume of data, we achieve fast data processing and availability for Key Users to proceed with analyses, and also great ease in scenario simulation, aiding in decision-making.
Driving Efficiency and Governance Through Advanced TM1 Development
What do you like best about the product?
What I appreciate most about TM1 is the ability to design end-to-end planning solutions that combine both performance and control. I enjoy how the platform allows me to implement robust governance through security settings, while still offering flexibility to adapt models quickly as business needs change. It’s a powerful balance between structure and agility.
What do you dislike about the product?
One thing I don't like about TM1 is the complexity involved in scaling models across different business units. While TM1 offers flexibility, maintaining consistency and performance across large, decentralized teams can be challenging, especially when dealing with complex, interdependent calculations and data sources.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
TM1 helps solve the challenge of aligning financial and operational planning in one integrated environment. By connecting data across departments, it eliminates information silos and supports faster, more reliable decision-making. This helps me deliver solutions that not only meet technical requirements but also bring real value to business users by improving visibility and coordination.
