What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing is thr to dislike, I didn't face any hurdles.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Using Jupiter notebook I did couple of python programs and design dashboards for data.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I recommend to go and take a look once as demo and I'm sure you will amaze and convince.
An excellent database, but difficult to study...
What do you like best about the product?
It is a robust, reliable database designed to support large workloads.
What do you dislike about the product?
Extremely difficult to learn. All companies I've met that use DB2 use it in Mainframe environments, which is practically impossible to replicate on a small scale to study. And all training I've seen for DB2+Mainframe, are absurdly expensive, because the professional who can teach is expensive and the environment to study too. That's why I see few professionals working with this technology. To be honest, I don't remember any DBA my age who paid to learn DB2; the few I met, already worked in a company and received the training.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The last project I worked on directly with DB2 was in 2011. As I couldn't learn the technology, I focused my studies on competing databases such as Oracle and MSSQL.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
You have to calculate very well the financial cost of using IBM. When I had access to the costs, compared to Oracle and MSSQL, it was the highest.
Whether in licenses, hardware and especially professionals.
Whether in licenses, hardware and especially professionals.
This is a database and it is very fast compared to other databases.
What do you like best about the product?
It is well designed and easily operated.
What do you dislike about the product?
The technical support is not upto the mark
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Used to store databases
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I want others to use it
Great for IBM integrated software
What do you like best about the product?
The transaction speeds are high and it is good for targeting ibm specific systems, however, is outdated and less flexible than newer offerings in the market.
What do you dislike about the product?
Less scalable for more modern apps, which is why most people are going away from traditional rdbms.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Java applications use this for the backend data in legacy applications. Helps with generic functionality and workflows.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would steer towards oracle or MySQL for traditional relational DB systems, and consider db2 a little outdated.
1 Year of Mainframe
What do you like best about the product?
Power to store Big data. Crores of Records are easily stored
What do you dislike about the product?
Most features are good for Large Enterprises
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We worked on ACS123 Production Compliance System. Production Status is stored in IBMDb2
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Very good Relational database for Large Enterprises like APL, Gap etc.,
DB2 DBA friendly
What do you like best about the product?
I worked in the large transaction processing industry workin with DB2 and Oracle. DB2 combined with other IBM supporting infrastructure is one of the top databases regarding performance. Also, i find db2 tools and management DBA friendly compared to other database products.
What do you dislike about the product?
Few might be dislikes, one if them is DB objects permission management where you need to grant access for every new objet intriduced for some low level access users.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use it in the main production transaction processing environments with very few failures per year.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is DB2 and Oracle on the top, and i suggest DB2 after working with both of them!
SAP workloads on DB2 databases
What do you like best about the product?
The main advantages of DB2 over other databases is the direct access to the data via the dBm interface. It runs on all available operating systems and provides flexibility
What do you dislike about the product?
Once the transaction log is cometely utilised, the database goes into rollback mode and the system is inaccessible until rollback is completed.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The main problems we have solved using db2 is the ease with which we can set up the high availability and disaster recovery set up for SAP systems. Major benefits have been downtime reduction of love production environments.
Reliable and excellent
What do you like best about the product?
The way it handles large data. Most amazing part is SQL syntax are easy to use.
What do you dislike about the product?
User interface could be made even better. Now also its good but this could be improved
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am working on telecom migration project. I find it easy to create import and export files in terms of all parameters such as data, constraints, seq and other data characters
Recommendations to others considering the product:
This is amazing to handle huge data. Speed is good even with big data. Coming from IBM so no doubt on reliability. I will say go for it.
