Flexible, versatile and efficient CAD tool for electronics
What do you like best about the product?
Easy UI, flexible to design rigid/flexible boards and good integration to mechanics CAD tools. Vault, draftsman, Spice simulation and live BOMs are nice features to speed up design time and avoid jumping between different softwares or web pages. Good help files and video tutorials are available for most features.
What do you dislike about the product?
Learning curve from legacy tools is sometimes bit steep since UI and rules are layouted differently. Some of the new features are still bit limited and not always working properly, but Altium support has been fast to respond and fix issues.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Consolidating all required electronics design steps and tools into one nice UI. Including all from documentation, schematic capture, component selection (BOMs), simulation, layout, review, release and sharing to manufacturer into one package.
Great software, very intuitive
What do you like best about the product?
It has a lot of good functionalities. The MCDAD plug in is also very good
What do you dislike about the product?
It still a pricy software, even thought is a really good one. It would be good to have the possibility to buy only a schematic block or the full version.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps me to design faster than my old software
Interface is very clean
What do you like best about the product?
I like that you can set up automated fanout for BGAs. The interface is quite intuitive and has a nice colour scheme.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes the program can lock up and freeze from just small things.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The automatic git archiving of designs is very useful and saves lots of time. The manual routing tool is very intuitive and powerful.
Snappy But Has its Issues
What do you like best about the product?
The snappy response of the tool and generally how it helps me get the work I need finished. I enjoy the fact that it has a multitude of tools that help me analyze and constrain my design. The snap feature is also pretty awesome.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like how the tool sometimes bogs down and crashes when trying to edit larger schematics. I also find it annoying to use to create footprints. But I feel like this could be resolved with a whole list of all of the hotkeys that can be used in the tool.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's helping with speeding up the process of design and keeping me happy while doing so. It is also has a very nice way of jumping in and out of the 3D, board editing, and layout modes which is very helpful.
The best PCB design software I have ever used!
What do you like best about the product?
A very well-designed interface that revolves around efficiency and speed.
What do you dislike about the product?
Updates are sometimes not stable. There are also some random bugs that might freeze the workflow.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Note having an intuitive interface for PCB design software slows down the design process. Altium provides room for more productivity.
Best PCB Design Software I've Used
What do you like best about the product?
Altium is by far the most user-friendly PCB design software I've tried (and I've used most of the industry-standard ones). It has great features for working quickly, and is far and away the easiest to teach new users.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are certainly some features of other design software suites, such as Cadence's in-depth pad design tools and Xpedition's ease of working with entire arrays of components, that Altium falls a bit short on, but on the whole Altium has the best sum total set of features in my opinion.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Altium Designer makes it very easy to bring new members of the team up to speed and get them designing useful products significantly faster than competing software.
Very powerful but have Problematic Bugs
What do you like best about the product?
I like it is very powerful Software for designing pcbs with ease and it also have a very big support from the community in libraries and diagnostics issues With frequent updates
What do you dislike about the product?
It has Many bugs even in the new updates Some versions are stable than the others Like the common knowledge that the latest version are the most stable. And it's very expensive
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
They try to solve the stability issues with frequent updates And what I like that the updates does not affect the prior files saved. So my workflow and assignments are not interrupted.
Altium designer tutorial
What do you like best about the product?
Very user friendly
Several ways to do a job
Several ways to do a job
What do you dislike about the product?
Some features are complicated and need time to get used to.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Easy design of schematics and transferring the design to layout: just easy
More sophisticated than Eagle Autodesk
What do you like best about the product?
I like the manufacturing part search that pulls up the price, symbol, & matching footprint.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike some of the naming conventions.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
altium is helping design custom PCBs for nanosatellites for the university nano-satellite program
Full product until schematic to PCB layout, with 3D step file generation.
What do you like best about the product?
Full product until schematic to PCB layout, with 3D step file generation.
What do you dislike about the product?
Simulation tool is missing to check the the high driagram on high speed interface like US2, US3 and DDR interface.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Now Altium is better for impedance controlled on PCB, so very help full for high speed interface where impedance controlled is mandatory
