Intuitive, Flexible, and Supportive—Descope Shows Us A Promising Future
What do you like best about the product?
Descope is more approachable and intuitive than a lot of other products we evaluated. Some seemed really good on their website, but the experience didn't hold up. Descope was the one that really clicked when we started trying to fit it to our organizational needs. Descope's sales engagement was very helpful in making us comfortable that their multi-tenant solution would meet our complex needs as a multi-tenant SaaS application with a variety of products to unify under one identity system. We are in the early stages of integrating Descope into our applications, but so far it seems very straightforward for a typical web app. Unfortunately for us, we need to bring our code up to standard to really take advantage of Descope's features. We look forward to using the power of their auth flows to enhance our users' sign on experience and centralize our identity management across products.
What do you dislike about the product?
While auth flows are very powerful, it's a bit difficult to reconcile in your mind how their flows, which orchestrate the entire sign on experience, translate into standard OIDC handoffs. It's easy to consume a flow logically, but understanding how to plug in a more generic auth provider flow into their custom flows still is muddy to me. Thankfully, their onboarding support has been very hands-on and responsive as we encounter questions like this. Also, as a .NET shop, their SDK for .NET is needing work to be production ready. We are still deciding whether to implement our own or work with Descope to improve theirs. I believe some of their other SDKs are more mature. Fortunately, their API is easy enough to work with, and our initial attempts at coding our own shows promise.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our main product uses a proprietary auth system, and we are building or acquiring other products that have their own disparate auth, too. As we try to build a multi-product application suite, we clearly need a unified customer identity experience, and we don't have the capacity or expertise to build it ourselve. We need an identity partner that can provide us the powerful SSO auth flows without us needing to be auth experts. We need to focus on our business and let Descope take care of the auth and identity management. Descope has been great to work with and has already taken our feedback to improve their product.
Effortless Login and Account Management, Seamless User Experience
What do you like best about the product?
What I like best about Descope is how simple it makes logging in and managing accounts. I love that it handles security without me having to worry about all the complicated backend stuff. What’s most helpful is how fast and easy it is to set up, and the upsides are that my users have a smooth experience, and I can focus on building features instead of dealing with authentication headaches.
What do you dislike about the product?
The primary drawback of Descope is that, despite its robust capabilities, certain advanced features require time to thoroughly grasp and implement. While the documentation is generally helpful, there are times when I need to experiment or contact support to achieve the precise results I’m aiming for. The most challenging aspect tends to be handling edge cases or customizations not addressed in the standard guides, which can cause minor delays in the implementation process.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Descope addresses the challenge of creating secure and adaptable authentication systems without the need to build them from the ground up. It manages features such as passwordless login, multi-factor authentication, and social logins in a manner that is both dependable and straightforward to integrate. This has been beneficial for me, as it saves development time, minimizes potential security risks, and provides my users with a smooth, seamless login experience. As a result, I am able to concentrate more on developing new features instead of spending time managing authentication.
Solid Authentication Solution for Modern Apps
What do you like best about the product?
Descope offers exceptional ease of use with reliable authentication solutions that integrate seamlessly into our applications. The platform provides smooth integrations, excellent documentation, and a well-designed interface that makes implementation straightforward for developers.
What do you dislike about the product?
While mostly satisfactory, there's occasional complexity during initial setup and configuration. Better pre-built templates for common use cases would streamline the onboarding process further.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Descope effectively solves our authentication and access management challenges by providing a comprehensive, modern solution. This has eliminated the complexity of managing multiple authentication providers, reduced security vulnerabilities, and streamlined our developer workflows significantly.
A Secure Authentication that’s fast to set up and Keeps users happy.
What do you like best about the product?
A Secure Authentication that’s fast to set up and Keeps users happy.I’m genuinely impressed by how Descope’s no-code flow editor has streamlined our authentication process. As a lead developer for our telehealth startup, setting up secure email OTPs and Google SSO for our web and mobile apps was so straightforward I had it running in just a couple of days, something that would have dragged on for weeks with other tools. The pre-built widgets fit perfectly with our Angular frontend, and the detailed error logs helped us spot a session timeout issue during our last stress test. Honestly, it has made our small team look like authentication pros without needing a cybersecurity degree.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not much to complain about, but integrating with our existing user database took some trial and error, mainly because our legacy table had inconsistent email formats that tripped up the initial sync. The docs are great for standard setups, but more step-by-step guides for quirky edge cases like ours would’ve saved us a headache. Also, the pricing is fair, but scaling to higher user volumes felt a bit costly for our startup budget.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Descope has been a lifesaver for managing secure user authentication while keeping our platform compliant with HIPAA regulations. We used to cobble together open-source authentication libraries that were a nightmare to maintain and left us paranoid about security gaps. Descope’s plug and play solution handles everything, passwordless logins, MFA, audit trails, so we are not constantly patching holes. Since rolling it out, our user onboarding completion rate is up 29%, and login related support tickets are down nearly half because the process is so smooth. It has also freed our dev team to focus on core features like video consults, boosting user retention by 15% this year. Descope has let us deliver a polished, secure experience without sinking our resources into authentication grunt work.
Great product! Easy to setup & easy to use
What do you like best about the product?
We transitioned to Descope from in-house authentication and that was one of our best decisions! No more bugs with authentication and role management, each new auth flow takes minutes to make using their flow builder. Also their slack community is great! They answer every question (even the dumb ones 😅)
What do you dislike about the product?
1 thing that was missing for me was the session control, we needed this for our per user business model so users won't use 1 paid seat for their whole team, but we transition to a different business model so it irrelevant.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Easy to use and powerful authentication!
Plug and play authentication and authorization
What do you like best about the product?
That I have a vendor I can trust to take care everything related to authentication and authorization for in the product I’m building. There’s no need to invent the wheel in this areas and develop it by yourself. With Descope I do it easily while I know I'm leveraging the best practices in this field
What do you dislike about the product?
If I have to find something it would be the auth flows which might be a little bit complex
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have out of the box authentication and authorization solution without the need of developing anything of your own.
Great experience with Descope
What do you like best about the product?
I most liked their intuitive UI, which translates complex auth flows into visual components. This allowed us to get setup very quickly. Their customer support was fast and well informed, helping us choose the plan that best fitted our use-case. The flexibity of their tools was also very important and integrated with our other existing auth tools.
What do you dislike about the product?
Minor issue,. but would be great to have a way to directly manage my plan and usage directly on the Descope console, currently I can't easily get info on my plan except by contacting support.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Descope help our product integrate with Microsoft as an identity provider. Descope handle the multi-tenant token validationa and other Microsoft requirement and provided us with a simple interface to integrate with our existing auth tools.
Simple, fast, reliable Auth!
What do you like best about the product?
Loved the entire experience with descope. It was super easy to get started, they have support for every type of auth you might require, and SDKs to use this authentication in the backend as well. But the best thing about Descope is their customer support - they are incredibly helpful and responsive, and even offered to get on Zoom calls to help me debug some of my issues (and I'm on their free tier!)
What do you dislike about the product?
Hard for me to find things I dislike about Descope, even if I did, it would just be nit picking.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Handling all auth and user identities, descope is our source of truth for all things users/ tenant related.
Solid solution for user authentication
What do you like best about the product?
Once we integrated Descope, setting up user authentication flows is really easy.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think the documentation could provide more thorough coverage of use cases beyond the basic ones.
Also, the experience of styling the login components could be better.
Also, the experience of styling the login components could be better.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Descope provides us with a solution for user authentication flows.
Easy to use, hassle-free auth integration experience
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to use as a developer, supports many authentication and authorization types, customizable, has a very clear guide for each IdP on how to integrate with it - very helpful.
What do you dislike about the product?
A bit harder to integrate with older frameworks - like Laravel for us, but still worked well.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Until using Descope, we only offered authentication by standalone email and password. As we grew and started addressing enterprise-level customers, we needed to offer SSO as an authentication method but didn't have the scale to implement it on our own, and we didn't want to re-invent the wheel.
