Great analysis tool for broad range of users
What do you like best about the product?
SPSS is great at doing many different kinds of analyses for a range of scientific data. It's versatile and can be applied in almost any research context.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is challenging to share data files with others who do not have SPSS installed. Since it is not free, it makes open-data sharing a bit more challenging. There are workarounds, of course (e.g. saving it as a .csv file) before sending to a collaborator. But streamlining this would facilitate greater transparency in science.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
In my work, I analyze data from several experimental groups. SPSS is wonderful at handling multi-level modeling and repeated-measures designs.
SPSS Stats for graduate level psychology
What do you like best about the product?
I really like that you can use the user interface to generate a script and then modify it as you see fit. The user interface is useful for quick analyses as well and makes showing other people how to use it easy. I also like that you can generate graphs in the output after running analyses.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't know if SPSS is going to be usable for some of the more advanced statistics I'll need to do in the next few years involved nested data. It is sometimes difficult to manipulate data in SPSS so typically I will do this ahead of time in excel.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm not exactly solving business problems, but I am analyzing data from studies that help inform my research. SPSS has a lot of benefits in terms of what I can use it for in my research.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Its a pretty user friendly statistics package that many people are familiar with and there are tons of online resources (youtube and such) because it is so widely used.
A good way to start in statistics
What do you like best about the product?
I like the simpleness of the software. For me, it was an excellent way to begin my statistical analysis. And if you are more interested in the software itself you can go more complex and even programming on it. That´s great!
What do you dislike about the product?
the interface is to simple and you need to pay for the licence
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Mainly as part of the analysis for my research
Recommendations to others considering the product:

I would like to add that I prefer R because has free access and is in continue renovating, and you can see it easily

Great updates!
What do you like best about the product?
It helps get jobs done that are too difficult to program in Excel
What do you dislike about the product?
The license fees are high for a single user
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Behavioral statistics
10 year user
What do you like best about the product?
Quick results. Ability to segment data.
What do you dislike about the product?
Results not easily interpreted. No affordable in person tutorials.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Understand what products are winners.
SPSS
What do you like best about the product?
Weighting capabilities
drag and drop

drag and drop
integrated into other systems I use
What do you dislike about the product?
The weighting capabilities -- the system hasn't kept up with the times. I would prefer to be able to say "20% male/80% female" and "30% under 50 years of age and 20% 50-69 years of age and 50% 60 and older"
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ensuring that the data we view from online research mirrors the offline proportions
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Test it with several different and complex data sets before buying.
Customer Service is non-existent...I've been switched to so many people that I've given up keeping track

it works but Stata is better
What do you like best about the product?
Good for point and click functionality for colleagues who are scared of using command-line interface. Data management is easy. Easy to create tables, etc.
What do you dislike about the product?
limited functionality with some analyses
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
research on educational outcomes
SPSS for academic research
What do you like best about the product?
I use SPSS because it is a user friendly interface for statistical analysis.
What do you dislike about the product?
Extremely large data sets sometimes pose problems and could have better graphing capabilities. I have to use two separate softwares to graph and run stats
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I work on environmental research and coastal conservation through field experiments and monitoring
Great tool for data analysis!
What do you like best about the product?
Intuitive buttons make it easy to use and navigate
What do you dislike about the product?
Some functions are hidden, and it would be nice if it was clearer what all available functions exist
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use SPSS for quick data runs to instantly find answers to questions about my data set
The Go To For Researchers
What do you like best about the product?
It's so simple to use. No more do you have to rely on the old-fashioned syntax method of data analysis...it takes just a few minutes to get up and running and has a fairly user friendly interface. It's my "go to" research tool.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's really expensive! My business currently pays for the product, however, when I was in graduate school, I wanted to use it, but the cost made it unable for me to do so.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Typically, I use SPSS for running quick data cuts that I don't want to bother my tabulation subcontractor with. It's great for "quick and dirty" results (e.g. I just need to pull a few numbers).
