Occasional User of SPSS Statistics
What do you like best about the product?
It's very simple to use in that it has only the necessary tools and no additional clutter.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing! I haven't used SPSS enough to determine if there's anything I don't like.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It allows users to analyze data statistically, and I have been able to further my research by using it.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It has its limitations, but it is very useful!
SPSS: Short, sweet, and simple
What do you like best about the product?
It makes data easy to see and summarize.
What do you dislike about the product?
Has alot of features that I havent used!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are organizing and coding a lot of our data into SPSS, which has made our data a lot more concise and we can use the programs on it to portray our data in different ways, compare different things, chart it different styles, etc.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
save all your data files to reference later, can be a pain to retype the information over and over again
Easier to use online
What do you like best about the product?
It is easy to access to my data and projects anywhere since my university provides free access to me. I do like it better than my older version app for SPSS. I think it makes sense to use the online one if you have both a desktop and a laptop.
What do you dislike about the product?
If you want to upload a file, it is harder to do it and sometimes using a cvc type file can create problems in the online SPSS (provided by my university). I guess it is nothing about the version of SPSS which is 23.0 but the connection or just the online environment.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It works perfectly for me. It is handy, easy to access and practical when I need my data. I can just connect, stop working on a project and after break or going to somewhere else physically take it from there.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure that you use the online version if you travel a lot.
Easy to use statistical analysis
What do you like best about the product?
It’s very easy to use. Has a range of tests that can be implemented. Recommended for basic science research
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes it lags when performing tests or making graphs
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I analyze research data. The data ranges from scaled data to nominal and ordinal data
Used SPSS as an undergrad then grad student for 4 years, now moving on
What do you like best about the product?
The clean simple Excel-like layout with classic drop-down menus at the top.
What do you dislike about the product?
In spite of its clean and simple layout, it is not laid out intuitively, and many of the menu options aren't labeled in a way that makes it clear what they do. It's also ridiculously expensive and every researcher I know hates how expensive it is.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I used SPSS to analyze data from my neuroscience research with animal models as both an undergraduate and a graduate student.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
SAS, R Studio
Great Quick Tool for Research Papers!
What do you like best about the product?
I like how easy it is to copy/paste data.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike the non-intuitive function names
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's helping us to maintain consistent formatting within the papers we are working to publish. It's also making it easier to teach new workers how to use the software since we are sticking to just one now.
SPSS- a researcher’s friend in data analysis time :)
What do you like best about the product?
easy to comprehend and use. The variety of analysis is the best part to play with the data and get excellent analysis and evaluate your results based on it.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dont dislike anything - if some more help with algo making part for creating new tools for analysis.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Every business problem of this century-
I
I
I have used SPSS intensively during the past three decades in analysing crossional & tme series
What do you like best about the product?
It is really good for decripitive statistics and cross tabulation in particualr for cross sectional data and KAP surveys
What do you dislike about the product?
Do modeling with SPSS is not very convincing to me
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Many from Rapid survey analysis through household surveys and KAP to regression modeling
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I think they need to improve interfacing with sister software and introduce narrating and graphing the reports. Also, should be be internet driven software where practitioners get direct support from headquarter during using the SPSS. For example, SPSS could successfully enter the business of On Line data collection, processing, analysis and reporting, specially for non parametric analysis and GIS
Easy to analyze and manipulate data
What do you like best about the product?
It is an incredibly useful tool for analyzing statistical data, spss makes it easy to report out findings.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes it can be difficult to adapt a dataset into spss in the correct format so it creates extra work
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Being able to identify trends in our data and then export in a way that it can be used for drawing conclusions
Effective (only if utilized mistake free)
What do you like best about the product?
IBM's SPSS Statistics allows users to effectively and rather efficiently analyze data and create advanced computations. The software is relatively user-friendly.
What do you dislike about the product?
This software has the tendency to crash frequently, meaning if data is not saved it is lost. The problem I have with this software is the fact that computations are not correct if you do not complete them in the exact way the program dictates. Additionally, SPSS is a more outdated form of Excel and needs to be revamped to keep up with its competitors aesthetically.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I utilize SPSS to analyze data gathered in Psychological research. The software allows me to compute correlations, BG/WG INOVAs, t-tests, and chi-squares with ease. The addition of having the option to create graphs within the product is beneficial as well.
