The OG Tab Package
What do you like best about the product?
When I started using SPSS about 16 years ago, the only instruction I was given was, "Open this [syntax] file, select all, and click 'Run'." I had no idea what it did, and so when I started actually digging around, I found that it was able to do a lot of the work I was doing in Excel. Creating basic frequencies, crosstabs, and graphs was easy! Over the years I've learned to do much more, and there are a lot of videos and online documentation. Almost all my knowledge has been acquired through trial and error, and Googling "SPSS syntax to do XYZ".
When you use the Wizard to create something, the command syntax shows up in the output, so you can learn as you go. I really like being able to see what I was trying to accomplish written out so I can copy and modify it.
The cloud-based version is great from an administrative standpoint because you can re-assign licenses throughout the course of the annual subscription.

What do you dislike about the product?
Like many tab programs, SPSS has its own syntax for writing commands, so you do have to learn the structure and sub-commands. There is a ton of information online, though.
From a purchasing standpoint: one of the biggest drawbacks of the desktop version is that the license is non-transferable. If your machine dies, you must purchase a new license. There are also no (free) upgrades. The biggest drawback for the cloud licensing is how utterly painful it is to purchase multiple licenses at different times. Adding another user midway through our last contract required paying for the full year, and then receiving a reimbursement from IBM for the unused months. We've had a couple reps, and they have been fantastic - it's the purchasing rules by which they are bound that are ridiculous.
From a website standpoint: the My IBM website is a mess. Links frequently don't work (e.g., click 'My Account' when logged in and get a message that says you're not authorized to view the page... pages take forever to load, Chat doesn't work, etc.). It is surprising that a company as large as IBM doesn't have this stuff figured out.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
At this time, I mainly use SPSS to check survey data (are all the paths populating as they should?), create data exports to Excel, and run tables / crosstabs to populate dashboards I've created in Excel. I love that I can set up my syntax once to perform the actions I need, and then be able to run it over and over again. It saves a ton of time when there are many data transformations that I used to do in Excel.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you're a student (have valid Student ID), you can purchase deeply discounted desktop versions from StudentDiscounts.com.
My experience with SPSS 25
What do you like best about the product?
What I like most about SPSS is its interface, which makes the usage simple and practical, but without leaving aside the complexity necessary for statistical data management, thats why i consider this program is perfect for users of different levels, both as for advanced users and students, this makes it one of the statistical programs with the greatest potential.
What do you dislike about the product?
What I least like is simply the common limitations of any licensed program, mainly its high cost, which makes it difficult for people with limited resources to access this program.
The second thing I like least is the characteristics of the graphics it produces, they are definitely aesthetically improvable, sincerely I've never used them for any of my research.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Because I am dedicated to medical research, specifically in the field of public health, this program means that for non-statistical people we can easily perform simple statistical analyzes, but with this, we can make actions with high impact on the health of populations.
Effective large data analysis software
What do you like best about the product?
When you know and understand the many formulae needed to use this software effectively, it is easy to use when trying to analyse large data sets.
What do you dislike about the product?
As previously mentioned, it takes a lot of complex formulas to effectively analyse data, and the shortcuts to formulate data in graphs and tables are hidden under dropdown and pop-up boxes that are hard to find.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am trying to analyse data for research relating to voting behaviours, trade data and other complex data sets. IBM SPSS does allow me to collate large data, but it requires knowledge of many formulae.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Research short cuts on using the software before paying the subscription fee.
SPSS review
What do you like best about the product?
SPSS statistics is very easy to use in basic statistical analysis. It is useful if you have a small experimental dataset. It is also good for teaching purpose because basic statistics can be understood easily with SPSS.
What do you dislike about the product?
Producing graph using SPSS is not the best way. It is not flexible and difficult to modify the graphs. SPSS is slower than other statistical softwares if you are working with a large dataset.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
---Teaching statistics to psychology and biology students is easy using SPSS
SPSS-IBM
What do you like best about the product?
The thing that i like most about SPSS is that once you figure out how to enter all your data, it gives you detailed results, and options to share your findings with others. Options to add values and labels are very clear and adjustable. You can tun multiple tests, regressions, ANOVAS and more.
What do you dislike about the product?
SPSS requires a little bit of background knowledge before you can fully utilize the software. Unless you know the definitions of certain tests and variables, you wouldn't understand how to correctly use the software. Validity is the biggest issue with any test but i think SPSS has made a good effort in improving tests and data entry for the software to produce the most accurate answers possible.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Alot of what i use SPSS for is survey data. The data collected is regarding different aspects of psychology. I then use this information to see if the data i collected is valid and statistically significant, This helps aid in research of different behavioral and psychological theories.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Lean to properly use the software and be sure the results are correct. If you dont know how to use the software it can skew your results.
Most advanced statistics tool
What do you like best about the product?
SPSS Statistics is one of the most sophisticated analysis tools on the market. Everything is included in this software, every statistical model there is. This is why I love this tool. In addition to functions, IBM provides outstanding support for this product.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is very complex application that is very hard to master. Good guides are almost impossible to find, you have to rely on IBM's support. I definitely used their support but it is much easier to find stuff on community forums.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
All the managerial decisions should be made by statistical models in my opinion. IBM SPSS statistics has allowed me to propose many solutions to problems in the company.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Recommended for every company that wants to implement statistics in their decision-making process. It might seem that application is expensive, but it definitely is worth your money.
SPSS for Quantitative Research
What do you like best about the product?
Above all else, SPSS's best feature is its user interface. As compared to Stata, SAS, etc., SPSS is quite simple to navigate.
What do you dislike about the product?
Unfortunately, SPSS is not that good for complex modeling (e.g., cross-nested structures in MLM).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Academic business research (e.g., causal models)
Recommendations to others considering the product:
NA
Makes Statistics and Research EASY
What do you like best about the product?
I love how easy it is to run statistical analyses for my research. Two clicks of a button and you have your output right there, it is so straightforward with barely any learning curve.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is a bit expensive, however it is definitely worth the money if statistics and testing/research is a big part of your organization.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Not only does SPSS help underscore statistical reasoning and results, it doesn't punish you with mathematics or technology. You can easily adapt to SPSS from alternative methods, it gives you accurate information extremely fast, and it simplifies everything instead of making things more complicated and confusing. I love working with SPSS
Recommendations to others considering the product:
SPSS gives you a real bang for your buck. No other program is as easy to use or as accurate when running statistical analyses. From students, to researchers, to professors, SPSS is a great program and I cannot recommend it highly enough, especially in terms of Psychological research.
The Most Advanced Statistics Tool
What do you like best about the product?
In my opinion, SPSS Statistics is the most sophisticated tool for expert users. What I like most about it is its community. Many users gather together at its community forums to discuss specific problems and usually, people find what they are looking for at these forums. I would also like to mention that this tool has almost every feature one might imagine, which makes it a pretty solid weapon in the hands of analyst.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes application freezes when big amount of data is fed to it. This causes problems, but the best part of this issue is that you know it from the beginning that the application will crash. This is definitely not something that always happens, it is pretty rare but it was something that came to my mind when thinking of things that I dislike about this terrific application.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Many big decisions that the company made was pretty much derived from the results of this application. IBM SPSS Statistics provides users with lots of features that are quite unique and useful.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Definitely worth your investment. This tool provides unmatched benefits.
