Didn't think I'd like a password manager

  • February 25, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I used to keep all my passwords in a desktop database file. But this is much better, since it works on the desktop and on mobile. It's simple and works as required.
What do you dislike about the product?
Now and then a bit of identity fails to fill. For example, title. Why? I don't know. Otherwise, it works well, it shows up when I need it and stays out of the way otherwise.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Works for a one-person office on desktop and mobile.

Can't Imagine Life Without It

What do you like best about the product?
This little package absolutely rocks! I can't imagine how our family and businesses would function without the help of 1Password. It's launched countless times a day from laptops, desktops, iPhones, etc. It keeps track of EVERYTHING for our home and business life. Passwords, credit card details, personal data, etc. It's all right there at our fingertips and we can access it, update it and keep track of it from everywhere.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing comes to mind. Seriously, this software takes care of all our needs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With 1Password, we've easily been able to generate countless numbers of unique, super secure passwords for every aspect of our electronic footprint and have that information instantly update across all our various platforms.

I'd honestly probably pay more for this without complaining

What do you like best about the product?
The thing I like the most is the extensive cross-platform support
What do you dislike about the product?
That I can't auto-fill in apps on Android from 1Password, but that isn't AgileBits' fault, it's the platform, and honestly for the better.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Having many different complex and secure passwords.

The benefits are that I now know that none of my passwords are leaked and if they do, it doesn't compromise another service that I use.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Use it.

What do you like best about the product?
Works excellently with my mac machines. Love how everything is in one spot.
What do you dislike about the product?
I also use it on Windows machines and the layout is nothing like my mac. It is very confusing and difficult to use versus what is on the mac
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I keep all my really useful info in none place

Life in 2018

  • February 24, 2018

What do you like best about the product?
That I can have unique passwords for every web site that I have to logon to. I also love that I can store secure files. I travel internationally for business and having access to things like a photo of my passport in my smart phone or my laptop gives me a lot of piece of mind.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is super easy to use on my computers but a bit more complicate on my smart phone. Often I have to open the app and copy a password to another app or to a web site. I can live with this since 1password opens with my fingerprint.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Security, security, security. My start up has lots of logons to financial institutions, government websites, etc. Unique passwords are super important to me.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you don't have a solution for saving unique passwords you are making a mistake. Kind of like riding a road bike without having bike shoes and clip in pedals - crazy

Security

Definitely life-enhancing

What do you like best about the product?
First, its the regular updates, offered by a very polite gentleman.
Great corporate culture starts at the top.
Second, this thing really works! I have about 150 passwords and they are all secret.
I'm always solving problems for my wife that refuses to put 1Password on her phone.
My 17 year-old son now has his own copy, and has learned to appreciate it after making fun of Dad for years.
What do you dislike about the product?
Can't think of a thing, except the auto-actions don't always work on every website, and they're working on that all the time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Safe and efficient internet usage.

What do you like best about the product?
Very easy to use. Really appreciate the integration with Safari, Face ID on the iPhone
What do you dislike about the product?
no negatives. The program wants 40 characters, so I'm typing more, but there really are no negatives I'm aware of.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Keeping track of passwords and being able to use longer more complex passwords easily. The program filled all of these goals.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Get it. It is great.

Most likely the best password manager for most purposes

What do you like best about the product?
AgileBits appears to take security very seriously. At the same time, they have a whitepaper published online, which describes in great detail the individual security measures they’re taking. Being affine to infosec myself, I appreciate this openness a lot; their behavior actually helps make the product more secure, not less.
What do you dislike about the product?
Although I’m on their Families plan, I’m not a fan of their subscription model at all. Worse, they appear to not support offline usage. In my opinion, this is a huge drawback. I’d love to access my credentials when I’m offline, too.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
When I started using 1Password in 2010, it helped me establish healthy security habits. For example, 1Password completely eliminated the temptation of password reuse, In retrospect, this effectively saved me from data breaches in several instances.

Another example would be the way AgileBits have designed the password generator built into 1Password. This generator uses configurable password lengths; at the same time, it generates easily-memorizable passwords with still more than enough complexity and entropy that they are essentially un-guessable. (Example: while other generators would create something like `f9ekX33m.c3cr$pt`, 1Password will suggest you passwords that are more like, `butter-tackling-prioritize-railway-mew,` which quite counter-intuitively, is not only easier to memorize, but also generally more secure than the former.)

This is extremely convenient for cases where I cannot easily access my 1Password vault, for example when I’m offline, or while I’m on a customer’s network which blocks the 1password.com domain (yes, there are IT departments who actually do that). Due to easily memorizable passwords the app has generated for me, I manage to keep my most important passwords in my head even though they were generated for me.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Mind that designing a secure piece software is an extremely hard task, which costs a lot of money. Given how well AgileBits have managed to pull that off, I’d recommend for anyone to get the subscription. That said, 1Password won’t help you a bit if your system is already compromised to begin with. I’d still recommend that you sign up but make sure to also teach yourself healthy security habits along the way.

Ease: to use and for the mind.

What do you like best about the product?
1. Password creation with desired elements. 2. Available on all my electronics. 3. Questions are readily handled by FAQs or the staff who are responsive, succinct and more importantly -- have a good sense of humor.
What do you dislike about the product?
Perhaps the only weak link I see in 1Password, is the password for the program itself. On an iPhone a fingerprint is good; I wish that option would be available elsewhere in terms of security.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The ability to drop out concerns re: file confidentiality and security
Recommendations to others considering the product:
IPassword removes one area of possible frustration, ranging from minor to major.
