Tailored to our needs
What do you like best about the product?
Orange DAM provides a flexible experience tailored to our unique user and institutional needs. The interface is visually appealing and compartmentalized in a meaningful way. I particularly appreciate the flexibility offered by the Advanced Search and filtering options. It's especially been helpful to be able to customize our interface and features as we continue to gather more user insights about what is helpful and what could be more helpful for their experience. Lastly, as someone who uses Orange DAM practically every day, having a DAMS that integrates with a separate collections management database has been especially beneficial to maximizing my own workflow efficiency. With proper institutional governance and a robust metadata program, the DAMS has amazing potential.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are some features about the interface that are a little clunky depending on the browser window size and magnification. For example, if the browser window is minimized to too small a size, the search bar almost disappears entirely and is difficult to locate. Additionally, for some users who are less tech-savvy, there is a learning curve involved with using Orange DAM that may lead to some frustration and decrease in frequency or consistency of use. However, part of that can be remedied with proper governance and adequate training.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Orange DAM has really simplified our institution's image processing and distribution workflow, and has also allowed us meaningful ways to implement more efficient rights management for these assets. Having metadata fields and tagging options that allow us to clearly communicate each asset's rights and usage minimizes misuse and other errors.

Diverse Assets Managed Succinctly
What do you like best about the product?
After a long search, and consideration of proprietary and open-source solutions, we realized we needed a full-fledged solution, with ongoing support. We hired a fulltime staff member to oversee and implement. The ongoing support and development has been the best aspect – Issues with unsupported file types were resolved and integrated in an orderly fashion. The accessibility has also resulted in a scope creep for us – our initial definition of assets we wanted to include increased, as we saw the value for managing other categories of digital assets.
What do you dislike about the product?
Complexity. It is inevitable that a tool that has extensive capabilities and configurability and security levels will have a learning curve.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our group spent a long time thinking about the digital future for our institution, and how to handle access to information for staff and public, and considerations for digital preservation. The low hanging fruit was image information and retrieval. EXIF data was beyond the reach of most staff, and images were siloed in too many places, and eventually lost with hardware change or failure. Tools that allow us to bulk upload and tag digital assets decrease staff time required to perform this essential function. We continue to find additional areas where we can apply Orange DAM. Access to architectural plans and institutional memories are another problem that Orange DAM is helping us address.
Lots of configuration and options, requires strong governance
What do you like best about the product?
There are very many configuration options to support a workflow request or goal. It helps if your organization has defined flows for image approval, rights management, security/visibility, etc.
What do you dislike about the product?
Implementation team made key decisions without consulting the client which led to brittleness in the system when it came time to upgrade and evolve workflows. Post implementation, it’s harder to get a timely response on tickets.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Central repository for images and media allowing greater administration of consistent use, description, rights management
Powerful software for diverse workflows
What do you like best about the product?
We selected Orange DAM after an extensive requirements-building and selection process. We needed a system that could fulfill the diverse needs of over a dozen different teams, with several external data sources requiring integration, and Orange DAM was the only one that came close. The team over at OrangeLogic were very attentive and supportive throughout our implementation, which was somewhat extended since this was our first DAM and there was a lot to figure out. Since then we continue to have a close relationship with our account manager, which we value. They frequently push new versions and features so you know the technology is not standing still.
What do you dislike about the product?
With great flexibility comes great complexity and great responsibility! The system can be a bit daunting for new users in particular, which is exacerbated for us since our staff are for the most part not already DAM-literate. It can also be hard for a smaller org to keep up with the new features and updates. Sometimes there is an extra cost required for different add-ons or modules, or for their staff to configure existing functionality, and this is after they were the most expensive of the options we considered. Overall these trade-offs were worth it for us!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Orange DAM is a major part of our overall technology strategy. We use Orange DAM for workflows in our imaging lab, marketing team, content creation teams, internal operations, fundraising and visitor services operations. We didn't have any kind of DAM in place before, so this has been a vast improvement over using various shared drives, external hard drives, sharepoint, etc. We are hoping to use Orange DAM more for more collaborative workflows and approvals across teams, including complex rights and reproduction and image approval use cases.
Cortex DAM by Orange Logic was a game changer for managing our photo/video assets
What do you like best about the product?
Web-based, secure (SAML 2.0), automated processes to upload and tag assets during migration, easy to learn, good system performance. Good implementation team and support.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some issues with Adobe Premiere integration, but the team is working on resolution. This system is the best one we looked at, and also the most expensive.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Considerable efficiences for storage, search and data classificaiton.
Breakthrough T1D DAM Project
What do you like best about the product?
What I love most about OL DAM is how customizable we can make our templates for staff. This one of our biggest issues prior to using OL and now that we have it, it is amazing! ANother thing that is very beneficial and important is how accessible we can make our DAM to internal and external partners. We are able to now make assets visible for certain groups v others and vice a versa. Allowing our usuers to create their page to their needs via filters, collections, sharing assets, etc. has made it very user friendly. which is a blessing!
What do you dislike about the product?
Overall OL DAM has been successful but since we are still in the early phase of having OL DAM we are running into downloading errors, template creations but importantly since there is sooo much that we can customize users are having a lot of questions on how to exactly use the DAM, they are having issues uploading images/files, download options not working and also the time it takes to create the templates and add the fields to it, it is very tedious especially if we have templates that have multiple options. Again, since we are still new and learning the ins and outs of the platform I am seeing more issues than say afte a year of using it and that is okay. Oh also, another thing is being able to customize templates after they have been completed, this might be something we can do but need to learn how to do it since users use the same template and updating something that is already created is huge v having to start all over again.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
OL DAM is helping us fix and update our way of using a DAM for our organization. We switched vendors because our old DAM was not meeting the needs of our growing need for assets, especially our customized templates. Along with this, OL is helping us ensure our users are able to customize their page and collaborate with their team, internal, and external partners, as well as make it easier for everyone.
Nonprofit Experience Implementing a new brand
What do you like best about the product?
The team at Orange Logic immediately understood our use case. They were able to show us similar organizations to ours and emphasized what was important to us. We are a template heavy non profit due to our many chapter and national staff who need to customize based on their local regions. The OL team worked with us on exact use case scenarios to ensure we were comfortable with all aspects of the tool - even things that were out of scope at the time but could be useful in a phase 2 launch!
What do you dislike about the product?
I truly can't find many things that we dislike. Perhaps the ticketing system? When working through implementation, most things must be documented via tickets and that takes extra time for our team when trying to move swiftly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The biggest problem Orange Logic is solving for us is our use of templates for our large staff. We had over 500 templates in our old system and because of the extreme customization options we can reduce to only 50 templates in the new system!
Robust, powerful DAM system tailored for our needs
What do you like best about the product?
Orange DAM is a robust, user-friendly platform that offers administrators and users a variety of options to manage and present data and assets. It's intuitive and simple to learn without extensive training and can be customized for any need. The implementation team was helpful, customer support is very responsive, and regular updates keep stakeholders up to date.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would like more flexibility as an administrator to manage some customizations independently. Also, I would like more control over reports, incleading creating custom reports based on specific criteria for our individual needs. I’d also like a clearer understanding of AI features and updates.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We needed a digital asset management solution to securely store and manage our content on the back end, while also presenting assets to internal users and offering a seamless experience for public members. OrangeDAM provides exactly that, with an intuitive front-facing platform that simplifies content sharing. Its user-friendly interface ensures fast access and smooth performance for everyone involved.
Powerful platform for a wide variety of digital asset, content, and data use cases
What do you like best about the product?
I've been working with Orange DAM for over 12 years in a wide variety of organizations. It is a powerful and flexible system that is capable of adapting to diverse use cases. Although it is a DAM system at its core, it can be easily entended to handle additional data needs around things like product information management (PIM) and marketing resource management (MRM) for enterprises, and collections management for cultural heritage institutions. It is a workhorse platform that performs at scale - up to millions of objects and PB of data volume. It can be easily integrated into an organization's tech stack to enable efficiency and automation. It is easy to implement through its configurable interface and does not require engineering and development resources to operate and scale.
What do you dislike about the product?
Orange DAM's power is in its configurability. There can sometimes be several ways a specific requirement could be solved for, so learning the platform well in order to understand the solution options is essential.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Centralization of digital assets and related data; workflow automation; collaboration
A Universe of DAM Possibilities
What do you like best about the product?
The abundance of tools, permissions and possibilities make the OL DAM elite. Our team relies heavily on fast workflows and collaboration the the OL DAM can keep up with in our daily projects.
What do you dislike about the product?
The onboarding is a bit overwhelming, but OL has since created some helpful tools like Orange University and amazing customer service.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The OL DAM is crucial for our team in speeding up project workflows, sharing assets and finding assets in a timely manner.
