OL DAM can support any use case

  • April 01, 2025

What do you like best about the product?
I have worked with multiple organizations that use Orange DAM and have seen first hand the flexibility and configurability of this application. Whether you are using it as your source of truth for brand content, as a drive wheel in your marketing stack, or to manage content from teams throughout a broad and deep enterprise, you can achieve your goals with Orange DAM.

For the user, it has powerful search, an intuitive interface that make finding and downloading assets a breeze. Users can access curated collections, search and filter with ease, and share content based on permissions set for users and groups or users.

Speaking of permissions. . . . They are finely grained and nuanced so you can manage folders of content using recursive properties -- or you can allow individual users access to specific assets for a specific date range and restricted options for downloading.

If you have a new or highly specialized work flow, need to integrate with new applications and build an AI tagging process to improve time-to-market, reach out to their customer support team and discuss it. Your customer success rep will help you make it work. And they have a detailed training program that will help you learn the ins and outs of Orange DAM. In short, you can configure and optimize Orange DAM to meet just about any use case.
What do you dislike about the product?
The learning curve is steep. As an administrator, you really need to complete their certification process to understand the full scope of what Orange DAM can do, and you will learn multiple strategies of achieving goals. The good news is their certification program is well designed and the curriculum is exceptionally thorough.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
My company supports three business that have different needs and use cases, but they each leverage Orange DAM to create a central view of assets that people throughout their organization can access.

A DAM for non-technical users

What do you like best about the product?
A central source of truth for our organizations content. We no longer have to rely on email and local drives when trying to find what we need. To get to the point, I save so much time!
What do you dislike about the product?
It took us awhile to onboard but it's been 5 years now so I can't speak to the current onboarding experience.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
By centralizing the assets we can find approved content quickly.

Modernizing the Digital Assets

  • December 13, 2024

What do you like best about the product?
Our Digital Asset Management (DAM) system at Colonial Williamsburg has revolutionized how we manage our extensive digital archives of images, videos, and historical documents. It has a user-friendly interface and many capabilities that make organizing and retrieving assets quick and efficient. This is saving a lot of time for users. The system is scalable, and by using AWS in conjunction with Cortex, it ensures we can manage our growing collections.

The platform also centralizes access to assets, enabling teams to work more effectively. The tool provides robust security and reliable performance, which provides peace of mind knowing our historical archives are well-protected and accessible for future generations. The Cortex DAM is an essential tool that supports our mission of preserving and sharing America’s history.
What do you dislike about the product?
So far, the only downside has been learning how to use the system. As with any complex system that provides additional capabilities, learning how to use the tools can sometimes be a bit overwhelming.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We needed a comprehensive system for managing our digital assets. Our previous tool (which was insufficient for our needs) was eliminated by the vendor.

What do you like best about the product?
Extensive customization ability and comprehensive search.
What do you dislike about the product?
Fairly heavy learning curve and setup is highly customized. It's hard to know what you want until you are more familiar with the capabilities.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Central storage and retreival of digital assets

Best DAM system for our needs

  • December 13, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Our organization - a museum library - needed a new DAM that would help us store, find, and retrieve assets for our user community in ways that our old DAM system could never do. We researched and interviewed a wide variety of DAM candidates and found that OrangeDAM was the only one that could help us effectively manage our media assets: moving images and sound. Their caption management tool allows us to easily caption and make searchable film/video and audio files and provide our user community with a new level of access that wasn't available to them (or us) before. This is a game changer in making our media collections findable/searchable for our users. We also have the ability to link assets so that video or audio files are presented with their accompanying scripts, press materials, etc to provide users with a more holistic view of our media collections. They also worked with us to integrate into OrangeDAM a new tool (similar to OCR) to help better transcribe handwritten manuscripts, of which we have many thousand in our special collections area. There are a lot of tools that exist to help make a better user experience and we're still exploring them after a year of working with the product. And they just released OrangeMAM, which we are also looking at to further assist us in managing our video workflow. We're excited to see that as well.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is so much to learn about the system that it can overwhelming, especially if you don't have much DAM experience. However, they just released a new learning center that is more in depth and intuitive than the former help center and has helped us answer internal questions and complete more advanced tasks. OL also provides 'office hours' in which customer's can ask specific questions about OrangeDAM in a live virtual enviroment. That is very helpful for clarifying how tools work or for questions specific to customer's specific instance of the system.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
One of the biggest issues for us was making our media collections available to our user community. These are moving image and audio assts. We couldn't ingest them into earlier systems because they couldn't handle them. Now we can and for the first time users can see our videos/film/audio assets in one central place. They had previously only existed on an internal server with a single gatekeeper. Users couldn't search, much less find the content they needed or worse, didn't even know that it existed. We were also able to merge two local DAMS into one central system so more users had access to a greater number of assets to assist with their work.

Good DAM for basics, lots of additional options

  • December 13, 2024
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
This is a clean-looking DAM that is very intuitive for our general users and has a lot of features we were looking for (watermarking, granular permissions, zoom, ability to handle photography, video, and audio files). Everyday use is very straightforward in terms of uploading, cataloguing, and finding assets.
What do you dislike about the product?
We have found more advanced features sometimes confusing and buggy - though this is in part because of OL's continuing development of new features. We've had mixed experiences with support - sometimes very helpful, sometimes very stalled. The original help center was very confusing and hard to search, though OL seems to be currently working on and making available new training tools. Our needs as a more research-based collection do not always mesh well with the more production-focused elements of the system.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We needed an up-to-date comprehensive DAM for our 1000000+ photographic and video assets, for both archiving and production use, and for both internal and external users. Orange Logic produces a product that works for us.

Intuitive and Flexible DAM system

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The people that worked for Orange Logic when I was helping to build out the DAM system were great. The implementation team was very responsive and the checkins were productive. The tool is also user friendly and very customizable. Loved it.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't recall disliking anything about my experience building out and using Orange Logic.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Centralizing all the digital IP that the company paid to create was very important to raising productivity and return on investment. Not to mention saving users time from having to track down assets in different silos.

Best in class DAM, Powerful Yet Complex with Excellent Support

  • December 13, 2024
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Orange DAM offers a rovust and highly flexible DAM system with expansive user group and asset permissions. The onboarding process was seamless, white glove experience. Their efficient customer support portal and top tier customer success rep is equipped with deep system knowledge, ensuring outstanding support.

The system is intuitive and quick to deploy, making it user friendly even for first time adopters. I also appreciate Orange DAM's R&D team always consistently at the forefront of tech innovation, continuously developing and implementing new cutting edge features as they become viable.
What do you dislike about the product?
Be prepared for a steep learning curve with Orange DAM, which may not be ideal for beginner or new DAM administrators. The system offers extensive and complex permission controls: including asset, user group, folder permissions and asset visibility classes. While powerful, these features does require significant effor to set up your system to meet your organization's need.

Metadata field must be set up for each asset type (e.g., images, videos, documents), this feature could benefit with a global permission option. Additionally, the asset auto start/end expiration date features could use improvements. Reporting fucntionality, while comprehensive, is overly complicated and challeging to generate a simple report efficiently.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
1. Intuitive UX/UI design enables users to quickly locate assets, this helps with user adoption to the new DAM system.
2. The highly customizable configuration options for user group and asset permissions ensure that each group has acces only to authorized assets. Especially for controlling permissions for internal and external (vendor and agency) user groups.
3. The Orange DAM system is very flexible allowing admin to tailored to meet diverse needs.
4. The AI facial recognition feature for video asset is a great feature, users are able to search for specific actors and/or dialogue appearing in the asset.

What do you like best about the product?
For years I've worked in organizations using departmental DAMs for individual teams, Orange Logic solves the problem of how to manage the needs of various teams with unique workflows, in one DAM environment.
What do you dislike about the product?
Onboarding new user is always tedious with such an enterprise solution, but new training programs Orange Logic has lauched have really helped eliminate this problem.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Content and system consolidation, workflow management, collaboration, rights management, content authenticity, project management and analytics.

A robust, scalable system

  • November 11, 2024
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The system is robust, customizable, scalable, and allows for granular application of both metadata and permissions. We have been able to configure a pan-institutional DAMS for a variety of users, use cases. and content types, allowing for greater collaboration, governance, and standards around our institutional assets. Regular system upgrades, feature enhancements, a communicative account manager, and an active ticketing portal ensure our staff is supported and our DAMS continues to mature.
What do you dislike about the product?
It’s a complex system that can be intimidating for new users. The ability to customize is a plus, but it also means that questions regarding our specific environment can’t always be answered in the documentation and solutions can’t necessarily be configured independently. Would also love to see reporting and analytics evolve with future versions.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As a largely decentralized institution, it was imperative to create a shared central repository where staff could aggregate, access, organize, share, and interpret our digital content (which had heretofore been scattered across departments with minimal, non-standardized, or nonexistent metadata). OrangeDAM has helped to streamline and make more efficient our internal workflows, and allowed us greater governance over our 1+ million assets.
