PortalGuard meets our needs
What do you like best about the product?
Their support staff has been exceptionally responsive and open to addressing our needs.
What do you dislike about the product?
It lacks a fully functional provisioning tool/service
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
SSO and MFA
Easy 2FA security
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to setup with helpful and knowledgeable tech support. 2FA worked with Google and Authy out of the box
What do you dislike about the product?
We got it mainly for SSO and the 2FA. I wasn't expecting the one stop shop menu of all our systems to be so useful.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
we wanted an easy to use and secure SSO page for employees and students to be able to use. Having 2FA built in was a huge step in me feeling more secure.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Their install was quick and easy, took less time to do than this survey that keeps going, and going, and going ....
Centralized Access and User Admin Made Easy
What do you like best about the product?
Two aspects are key to PortalGuard:
First, the ease of access to multiple applications with single sign on capability. This means centalized control to applications that are both on premise and cloud access. This also means only one user/password for end users to access multiple applications.
Second, the ability to fully customize the home screen to match the end user look and feel. By using a proxy server, we can offer multi-tenant access for applications that charge on a per-user basis. This enables a relatively easy to understand ROI case when applicable. End users will have a seamless experience on the dashboard screen where they can easily access apps that are available to their user profile.

What do you dislike about the product?
Currently there are two options for accessing applications: over HTTPS and with HTTP. Ideally the application should force https through the proxy even when the native application is only http. If a forced HTTPS access is not possible using a Scooch server proxy, then a reverse proxy could be offered as an alternative. The look and feel customization could also be better and more flexible in terms of how the header and footer interact with the native application. Currently the banners are covering up either the top or the bottom of the screen (including sometimes sensitive content such as buttons or other information). Ideally the header and footer banners should be in their own frame, thus unobtrusive to the content being shown.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our customer is using PortalGuard to simplify the access of their end customers and suppliers to a single website that consolidates up to five different platforms with only one username and password. Also they are using customized look and feel to make customers and suppliers know they are using applications that belong to them and not simply a generic app. Another important aspect is single sign on capability, which requires only one username and password combination to unlock multiple apps within the portal guard dashboard screen. The ability to recover forgotten passwords with a self-service autorecovery feature has been key to the success of the application, particularly for large customers that require large investments in help-desk for password recovery and other similar support centers.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
PortalGuard is an excellent choice. The price is more than reasonable for the quality of the software which feels and acts robust and safe as you would expect from such an important piece of infrastructure software. With the added proxy server, not only can to add features and security to the platform, you can also offer multi-tenant access to applications that otherwise charge on a per-user basis. From our experience it is easily recommendable.
PortalGuard MFA
What do you like best about the product?
PortalGuard is easy to configure and use. Their support is easy to work with and very responsive.
What do you dislike about the product?
We haven't found anything in PortalGuard to dislike.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We originally acquired PortalGuard to solve a password reset problem we were having and then moved to integrate the MFA product into our environment.
A robust on-premise Self-Service Option
What do you like best about the product?
Portalguard is fully featured, has robust options, and integrates well with our AD environment. MFA for selected user groups is wonderful as is the time savings for the help desk due to self service password reset. We like the MFA options (3rd party email, SMS, auth apps, etc) and ability for users to customize their options/experience. Additionally, their support team has been exceptional to work with!
What do you dislike about the product?
Setup was slightly cumbersome due to all the options. However, the ability to customize it just like we'd like far outweighs the setup.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Self-service password reset was our main requirement. We have also selectively implemented MFA. We've realized all the security benefits of MFA (where implemented) as well as the help desk time savings of not having to reset user's passwords.
Great product!
What do you like best about the product?
We've been using PortalGuard for several years now and it has worked perfectly for us. It integrates all of our single sign-on (SSO) services onto one page, includes an area for our non-SSO links, includes password reset options for users, and enables us to provide First-Time Users with easy access to all our secure online services. PortalGuard includes MFA and options for admins to customize some features. The PortalGuard application has grown significantly in the past few years and customer support is among the best we've had. We chose PortalGuard to replace a much more expensive portal solution and have never been more pleased.
What do you dislike about the product?
These days, we expect a solution we can install on our own. Although we needed the help of the implementation engineer, after several meetings, the rapport we developed was constructive for both articulating our specific needs and for getting those needs met. And honestly, the number of services we've had to integrate for SSO has been a bigger job than we expected. But even a complex configuration was made easy-peasy with the expert help we received!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This product was far less expensive than the solution we had been using while the functionality, customer support, and improved reliability have all been improvements for us.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
We found PortalGuard to be the best option available.
Portalguard
What do you like best about the product?
Self Service Password reset and 2FA on server clients.
What do you dislike about the product?
They STILL have not worked out a solution for 2FA on a portable device that is not yet connected to the internet.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Self Service Password reset.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you plan to use their 2FA, figure out a workaround for mobile devices.
