Using SimScale for Academic Purposes
What do you like best about the product?
The program is easy to learn and has plenty of resources to aid the user. The forum has quick replies from the SimScale professionals.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some features are lacking in SimScale that one would typically see with other CFD programs, specifically in the post-processor.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am using SimScale for HVAC simulations. The simulation setup is easy, and the website has plenty of tutorials and resources that help the user.
Low entry-level CFD package with concise docs and amazing support.
What do you like best about the product?
SimScale is straight-forward to use even for someone with no previous experience in computational fluid dynamics. The work-flow is intuitive, there is lots of good documentation that get you up to speed quickly. There is also amazing support available through the user forum and the very helpful SimScale staff.
Thanks to the simple interface and the fact that all tools one needs for CFD from meshing to the visualisation are in one place, it's easy to generate results quickly. The possibility to import the models directly from OnShape is a nice touch. The free 3000 core hours on the community account are generous and were more than I needed to complete my project.

What do you dislike about the product?
Some stages of the work-flow can take long to load. Inspecting the mesh or visualising the final results can require some patience. For future use, I will probably analyse the results off-line with a 3rd-party software.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I was optimising the geometry of a RC plane. SimScale helped me to understand the effect of the dimensions of the wings and the fuselage on total lift and drag.
The community and support is just way beyond amazing.
What do you like best about the product?
It is user friendly. There is a lot of help to find in the community. The chat-support is just beyond amazing. The website as well is pretty well-organized compared to how much information is on there. The search engine is also satisfying.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing really. Would be nice to have a broader library of fluids and solids. I do not know if this comes with the pro-editions.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I needed to figure out how fast nitrogen stabilized in temperature through a 316L Stainless Steel pipe. Even though there is not a default 316L in the solids-library(at least not in the community edition), you're able to adjust necessary parameters of the steel pipe default to match a 316L pipe.
A great software that is very powerful and easy to use with an amazing friendly support team
What do you like best about the product?
I like the cloud as a whole idea especially the advance concepts like MRF and AMI. CFD, FEA, and thermal simulations are very trustworthy. and love how the support team was very helpful. the documentation section is very handy and accessible.
What do you dislike about the product?
the beta post-process result solution field is still need some improving
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
My project was to simulation a micro wind turbine in order to know the magnitude wind speed that required to rotate the blades at certain rad/s.
I solved it by using the advance concepts like MRF.
I solved it by using the advance concepts like MRF.
Best software for learning and starting with cfd simulations!
What do you like best about the product?
- very user friendly UI
- stacked community with tons of help and advises
- using the open projects of other members to learn
- chat-funktion with the ability for the support to have a look at your current project
- possibility of using online IT-ressources in one of the premium plans

What do you dislike about the product?
Doesn't noticed anything so far. It's just easy to use with a powerful support and community
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use simscale for simulating parts of our formula student racecar. For us as a first year aerodynamics team, the structured UI and the many examples with FSAE content are a big advantage to us.
Best Communication Platforms on top of Quality Simulations
What do you like best about the product?
They run a direct chat room in the web. Whenever I tried to contact to ask questions from the scratch, they replied very quickly just like a personal tutor. It is good to learn.
What do you dislike about the product?
I haven't found yet any severe issues regarding the software.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The web-based CFD platform is good to operate in non-profit organizations.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
They run a awesome communication platform. !!
The best CFD software and community.
What do you like best about the product?
Well, besides the SimScale's primary goal, that is solving CFD and FEA problems on the cloud, the community they built is just the best in the world in my opinion, they have a lot of articles and tutorials about CFD and FEA simulation, and their archives just keeps growing. Users and employees trade knowledge, and their support has a time record answering rate (believe me, you won't find it anywhere else).
What do you dislike about the product?
Doesn't run 2D analysis, also needs to co-work with a CAD software.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm part of an Aerodesign team, however my university doesn't teach CFD things, SimScale not just ran my simulations, but taught me how to do that. That's the biggest point about SimScale.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
How i've mentioned, SimScale is more then a software, it teachs you a lot. I think it's the right place for solving your CFD problems without any top hardware while trading a lot of knowledge with the people who uses the software.
Very handy and computer friendly I would say ..learning at simscale is fun
What do you like best about the product?
The best thing about the simscale is that . It is computer friendly we don't have to forget our laptops for hours (for simulation) also there is great projects out there from which we can view and learn . Also the community is just wow!! the technical support we get is another level just think who keeps customer service for a free user simscale does that and it's very delightful.i got a great cfd mentor from simscale (who is just awesome)
What do you dislike about the product?
Everything is good but the interface just becomes messy if u do t have large laptop or desktop screen
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
CFD ,FEM
Recommendations to others considering the product:
first go to the free tutorial series that they provide for free
Simscale as an intuitive browser-based simulator
What do you like best about the product?
SimScale is very user friendly as there are many articles and posts that can guide even users new to this type of software. In addition to this, SimScale also has an active support team who will more than happily answer any questions you have and provide any help needed.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's slightly difficult for beginners, but even with this, there are so many articles and forum posts that will most likely answer any questions or issues that you have. The SimScale team will also answer any questions you have which is absolutely wonderful.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Right now, I'm using SimScale as a wind tunnel simulation for a research report. The SimScale team would always help with no hesitation whatsoever; it's an extremely pleasant experience especially as someone with no experience in this kind of software.
Great!
What do you like best about the product?
Support replies fast and accurately! Also, user interface is highly intuitive and friendly
What do you dislike about the product?
I think there are some limitations on the amount of streamlines you can put in your model
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm analyzing wings for an aeronautic project I'm working on
showing 201 - 210
