What do you like best about the product?
Tembo is the Postgres developer platform for building every application and data service.
What do you dislike about the product?
it's good.. there was no Dislikes. i like Thier Services like App Devlopment and Services Also
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
your extension uses hooks to modify the behavior of PostgreSQL, it’s important to use them properly to prevent dependency and load order issues. Hooks that don’t modify server state and always call the next hook should be safe to load in any order.

Tembo is simplifying PostgreSQL management

  • August 09, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Tembo provides a free, fully managed PostgreSQL service that includes essential features like PgBouncer and vector embeddings, all accessible with just a few clicks. This makes it easy to manage and scale your databases without needing in-depth technical knowledge, offering a streamlined experience for developers.
What do you dislike about the product?
However, using Tembo involves entrusting the management of your data to an external company, which can pose risks related to data security, privacy, and control. This reliance on a third-party service may be a concern for organizations with strict data policy requirements.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
In essence, Tembo acts like "Docker" in the world of PostgreSQL management—it abstracts away the complexities, allowing developers to focus on building and deploying their applications without worrying about the intricate details of database setup and maintenance. This approach benefits users by reducing the overhead associated with database management, improving efficiency, and enabling quicker iterations of their applications.

Tembo lets us focus on building our product by providing an affordable, reliable managed database.

What do you like best about the product?
We chose Tembo because we were looking for a reliable managed database provider so we could focus on building our product. We like that "limits" are only tied to the provisioned specs, not arbitrary decisions made by the provider. The automated backup system helps us avoid the stress of finding a reliable backup solution ourselves and the support of all Postgres extensions make this a long-term solution for us. And on top of that, since choosing Tembo, we've also been impressed with the quality and friendliness of their team's support!
What do you dislike about the product?
I haven't had any issues or encountered anything that I dislike about Tembo so far.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Tembo so that we don't have to worry about database configuration/management/maintenance, backups, etc and can instead focus on building our products.

An easy-to-use, powerful platform for running Postgres with extensions

What do you like best about the product?
One of the first things I noticed when trying out Tembo for the first time was how simple it was to spin up a new Postgres instance and configure any combination of extensions I wanted.

When you create a new instance, you can choose among some common "stacks" which are pre-configured Postgres installations with a combination of extensions for common workloads like OLTP, OLAP, Machine Learning, Time Series, Message Queue, and others. There is also a standard stack, where you choose which extensions you want to use. Installing an extension is as easy as finding it in the list and clicking the install button.

Despite being simple to use, the platform is very powerful too, supporting features like high availability, point-in-time backup restore, performance monitoring, and Terraform support.

The few times I've had questions, the Tembo team has been super responsive on Slack, answering right away. They've also been instrumental in helping to further build the Postgres extension ecosystem, having created several open source extensions, such as pgmq, pg_vectorize, pg_timeseries, and several others.

Before using Tembo, I wasn't really aware of the vast array of extensions available and how powerful they are, so I credit them with helping to raise awareness about extensions and how you can use Postgres for more than just a traditional RDBMS.

Overall, Tembo is an amazing platform for running Postgres, raising the bar and expanding the definition for what a managed database can be. It's one of those things that "just works" and is enjoyable to use as part of my dev stack.
What do you dislike about the product?
There's not really anything I dislike about Tembo.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tembo solves the problem of "database sprawl" as their website says.

For me, this means I can use Postgres not just as an RDBMS, but also for things like message queueing, vector database, and time series, without having to involve another product in my system's architecture.

Streamlining Database Deployment and Management for Engineers

  • June 04, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It enables our engineers to get up and running with the needed databases and extensions quickly. Elememnating the need to manage the infastructure and fiddle with the instalation of extensions. Their customer service and quick response times to any questions are impressive as well!
What do you dislike about the product?
Their current cloud offering is AWS only. But they do have a selfhosted option that we can deploy in GCP, that gives us the same features, but in our own cloud.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ability to quickly and easily deploy DBs with the extensions my team needs
