Easy to use VPN for humans and machines
What do you like best about the product?
Tailscale is incredibly easy to set up and in almost all cases just works. The ACLs allow fine grained control between users and devices, regardless of where they live on the network, which massively reduces the admin burden of maintaining IP lists and allows security teams audit who has access to what and apply the principle of least privilege.
The staff at Tailscale are very friendly and it's clear they want to build what their users want. The calls we have had with their teams have been very productive and it really feels like they value our feedback when deciding how to build features.

What do you dislike about the product?
A lot of Tailscale's features (e.g. magic DNS) are inherently tied to the tailnet DNS name, which can make integration with existing services more difficult. We'd love it if Tailscale integrated with our own domain name as this would make everything work transparently!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Securely allowing access to our network from staff members, and between machines.

Perfect software, nice people
What do you like best about the product?
I can ssh into my raspberry PIs, or any other server, from any of my devices, and it's safe and simple.
What do you dislike about the product?
Minor nit: I wish they would alias admin.tailscale.com to https://login.tailscale.com/admin/machines

Best Tools for Multi-Cloud Network Integration
What do you like best about the product?
It scales effortlessly as your team or infrastructure grows. I also appreciate how powerful and flexible the access control policies are—you can define very granular permissions to suit almost any security need.
What do you dislike about the product?
Should improve a multi tailnet option to split environments.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tailscale solves the complexity of building and maintaining a secure, fault-tolerant VPN mesh. It makes it easy to connect devices across different networks without relying on traditional VPN infrastructure. This has been a big benefit by improving reliability, simplifying setup, and reducing the need for manual configuration or public IPs.

The best part about Tailsacle is being able to have devices talk to each other regardless of how they get their internet is indispensible.
What do you dislike about the product?
Tailscale doesn't allow for arbitrary WireGuard exit nodes. It would be useful to allow clients to connect to a WireGuard server while still being able to ping each other.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
When working in different environments, IP address might change. Tailscale gives each device a static IP and hostname so that programs like reverse proxies and whatnot don't have to be reconfigured every time.

Self Hostinging and that I can access my home and computers whereever I am without compromising on security

What do you like best about the product?
Deploying and configuring tailscale on remote stations is quick and simple. The system is very reliable, works exactly as needed and the connection is quick and allows realtime data monitoring from remote sites.
What do you dislike about the product?
Convenience features like grouping systems and preventing certain specific stations from seeing eachother exist but are more complex than it should be to set up
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Access to remote equipment without having to install software at every site. This allows our company to monitor and troubleshoot control systems through the VPN connection without having to install software on the remote computer running Tailscale as it provides a tunnel through for us to directly connect from our office programming stations.
The easiest private VPN I've ever used!
What do you like best about the product?
It is so easy to setup and use. Also, tailscale is very good at finding the shortest route between devices - giving it an edge over using a standard self-hosted vpn like OpenVPN or Wireguard. Additionally, tailscale allows you to "share" devices, this, in addition to the simple setup process, makes it an invaluable tool when doing troubleshooting for others.
What do you dislike about the product?
The IOS app needs some heavy improvement. As far as usability, the app works relatively fine, however it tremendously drains battery life. Also, in networks where 'tailscale.com' is blocked, the app will not connect - this is also an issue when using a desktop computer. The DERP servers should be implemented in a way that allows for connection around this method of blocking.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We needed a way to access devices from outside of our internal network. Tailscale greatly simplified and improved this system, especially with their DERP relays, which allow firewalled devices to connect to the same network. Previously, we used Wireguard/OpenVPN to do this. We needed this system because Wireguard provided speed advantages, and OpenVPN could be run on TCP port 80 (to get around most firewalls). Additionally, tailscale was a 'subnet router' that allows the entire internal network to be exposed with only one tailscale-connected device. This allows for seamless connection with out internal servers from anywhere in the world.
An essential app for anyone with more than one device
What do you like best about the product?
Tailscale provides a simple client that interlinks various devices together. This allows any devices on the Tailscale network to access each other regardless of any firewalls or network obstacles.
What do you dislike about the product?
Their Android client is lackluster, making it difficult to use an Android phone as a server for various purposes such as app testing.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
University networks are often segmented for security reasons. Keeping staff, student, and IoT networks segregated prevents malicious devices from spreading over the network as easily. The segementation, however, can be cumbersome when devices need to talk to each other across these different networks. Tailscale allows for our gadgets to communicate in a safe manner regardless of which network they are in.

What do you like best about the product?
Tailscale makes it easy to interconnect all of our devices, from servers running in a rack to the laptops of each employee. The simple, yet secure mesh VPN Tailscale provides means we don't have to worry about managing complex VPN configurations, making things just work.
What do you dislike about the product?
The lack of an official self-hosted option means we must depened on the cloud for a production-ready solution. Our business takes data privacy seriously, and having to depend on the cloud means yet another provider. While solutions such as Headscale exist, they lack important business features like SSO.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Oftentimes our employees are not working on site. They may be on the go or at home. Before we had Tailscale, we had to manually configure a VPN profile for each employee and show the employee how to enable it on their laptop. The result was a lot of complaints to I.T. about the VPN not working. Tailscale simplified everything. Tailscale is able to run in the background without and hitch, and utilizes a myriad of technologies to ensure the connection succeeds. We now hardly ever get complaints about the VPN.

What do you like best about the product?
Tailscale simplifies a WireGuard VPN so that anyone can set it up. The setup is easy, and maintenance is even easier. It also provides peer-to-peer connections which can be cumbersome to implement with raw WireGuard
What do you dislike about the product?
There is no official self-hosted option. This forces us to rely on Tailscale's cloud, which may not always be available if one day they disappear. While an app called Headscale does exist, it lacks some functionality.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Having low-latency connections between devices was cumbersome to set up. Using Tailscale, we no longer have to worry about WireGuard configs and can instead focusing on work.
