Nice to have some visibility on team performance metrics

  • September 29, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that I can see my team's metrics and compare them to other teams within the organization or even benchmarked against the industry.
What do you dislike about the product?
Based upon how administrators configure Jellyfish to consume data from datasources like Jira, Confluence, and GitHub it can be confusing what any given metrics means at any given time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps my team track various performance trends over time to get a sense if we are improving or not.

Providing Insight and Evidence

  • September 28, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Often times there are feelings and anecdotal evidence about how work is progressing within Software Teams. The reporting in Jira only gives you a partial picture and doesn't make it simple to get a larger view of your whole organization. With Jellyfish we are able to clearly see the what work is being done and how it aligns to where our buinsess wants to invest and grow. It provides the support and visibility to what was previously just anecdodtal. The implementaiton and integration with our systems was very smooth and the support team at Jellyfish were knowledgeable and helpful during our implementation.
What do you dislike about the product?
Jellyfish has a lot of reports and screens to naviagate through. Initally, it took time to figure out where everything was and often finding the same information or report twice took some re-discovery. After regular use, it becomes more familiar and the navigation makes sense.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Quantifying how much developer effort and time in spent on support and maintenance type work vs new feature development.

Best in Class!

What do you like best about the product?
My favorite thing about Jellyfish is the easy in which is provides us visibility into all aspects of our teams performance and deliverables. We can easily have identified and removed bottlenecks, see where we have poor data and drives efforts to clean up. allows our teams to self monitor and drive improvemens within the team, as well as lets us easily see how we are progressing towards deliverables. With all of these amazing features the very best part of Jellyfish is the people! Our CSM, Kelsey, is out of this world. They are a true partner in improving our teams.
What do you dislike about the product?
A year ago I may have listed some features that are not available as dislikes of Jellyfish. However, they are quick to listen and rollout new features!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Increased visibility and transparency into how our teams are performing, to identify potential bottlenecks and keying in on various signals that allow teams to self-assess and diagnose areas of potential improvement

Give me more Jellyfish!

  • September 28, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The three things I like most about Jellyfish are:
1. The views of investment allocation, and the ease of seeing these by product vertical, by organization, etc.
2. The almost "click a single button" ability to see how any individual is doing. This is super helpful when integrating new team members.
3. The life cycle metrics. Such a pain to get out of Jira, and SO helpful for interpreting some of the other metrics, being able to tell a full story.

Also, their customer support is AMAZING!
What do you dislike about the product?
I'm not sure there is anything I dislike about Jellyfish, but there are a couple things I wish they did more/better.
1. DORA metrics. The integrations are not great at the moment.
2. I wish I could have multiple saved dashboard views
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Efficiency and alignment.

What do you like best about the product?
Getting data about delivery and team performance is made very easy and intuitive.
What do you dislike about the product?
I'd like a little more control over some of the charts
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I need ongoing information about my teams performance. Jellyfish provides that for me.

Great Visibility Tool for Managers

  • September 28, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Jellyfish gives great insight into metrics that are harder to see in Jira - how much work your team is doing that is "interrupt" or "unplanned" vs. the items you contributed to. It gives managers a sense of if they need to push back on things coming into the team. It also can track DORA metrics from the DevOps side.
What do you dislike about the product?
These metrics can certainly be misused. You can track individual contributors' metrics and compare them to the rest of their peers. While this can be helpful to drive conversations and indicate possible best practices, there is the danger that this can become punitive.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Jellyfish helps me track my team's velocity and gives me early indications of bottlenecks or problems. It also shows me overall patterns of execution, both at an individual and team level.

Fantastic tool

  • September 28, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Jellyfish immediately starts delivering clear and actionable insights. As an engineering manager, my primary responsibility is to ensure that my team's work aligns with the company's overarching goals. Jellyfish's investment allocations feature has been invaluable in helping me achieve this. It provides a clear and transparent view of where our resources are allocated, making it easier to prioritize tasks and allocate resources effectively.
What do you dislike about the product?
The onboarding process was far from smooth. Jellyfish claims to cater to different engineering organizations, but the reality is that the initial setup was cumbersome and unintuitive. It took our team an inordinate amount of time to figure out how to configure the system to align with our specific needs. The lack of clear and concise documentation exacerbated this problem, leaving us feeling lost and frustrated during the setup phase.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The key issue that Jellyfish effectively resolves is the lack of visibility and clarity in resource allocation. Before integrating Jellyfish, our team struggled to maintain a transparent view of how our resources were distributed across various projects and tasks. This lack of transparency often led to suboptimal resource allocation, missed deadlines, and misaligned efforts.

A Data Analytics Tool that just keeps getting better!

  • September 28, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The people who work for Jellyfish. They are amazing. Our CSM provides us insights into new features, answers every question we have, helps diagnose configuration issues, etc. The engineers will also join calls to provide their insights into how best to utilize the tool and will take suggestions and potentially implement improvements to help out the customer.
The tool itself is pretty fantastic too. It helps to see "the forest through the trees" in a way that wasn't possible otherwise. The data is laid out on the screens in a very user friendly way so anybody is able to easily digest the information and garner a proper understanding.
What do you dislike about the product?
The UI is beautiful, but it could be better organized. Sometimes it is difficult to find screens you've visited previously. Also, being able to identify what the page is from the tab would be awesome. Currently, if you have many Jellyfish tabs open, it can be difficult to figure out which contains what you need at that time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Jellyfish helps us to be able to see where work stands within the SDLC. It can highlight when something is off track and help us to course correct prior to it becoming a problem.

Actually a pretty good tool that helps presenting insights

  • September 28, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Combines Jira data with Git information that is easy to get to and action. I think presenting this information makes it much easier to the C level execs. This also helps during retrospectives and planning for the future. It's easy to deploy and get going as well.
What do you dislike about the product?
Ease of use also means that the customizability isn't quite there and it's hard to accomplish some tasks. Though the biggest issue is in the nature of the tool itself. It's good at presenting numbers which creates a want/need to chase better numbers, regardless of how that's manifested in the real world. This isn't quite the tool's fault per se, but it's easy to create a situation where less work is being accomplished but the charts look good so the goals are 'met'!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's helping us solve the retrospective and goal setting issues and presenting the status and progress to upper management
