Works for desktop syncing. Can't set permissions for multiple folders at the same time.
What do you like best about the product?
The ease of management of users and groups.
What do you dislike about the product?
Two-factor is a bit clunky, causes issues for standard users who don't use two factor. Applying permissions on hierarchy of folders is a nightmare and will definitely accelerate someone like me toward arthritis. Currently you have to set up each individual folder for access (unless you want the same access across all folders via inheritance). So if you want to lock down Folder 1 and its top level of folders, Folders A, B C, D, E, but allow the subfolders of A, B, C, D and E, lets call them A1, A2, A3, A4 and A5, to be editable to a group, you have to go into that folder and individually set each specific folder (A1, A2, A3, A4, A5) with the permissions you want, rather than selecting all of those folders and setting the permissions. You literally could make it in 5 clicks, but instead, you multiply that 5 clicks for each folder you have. So, in my experience, I have to click 300 times, when it should take me 30. Searching and tagging sucks and is ineffective on the desktop. You have to go to the website in order to tag. Searching through tags and content is only done in the Egnyte Connect App, that no user willingly wants to click on to search. Integration needs to be better for tags.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We eliminated the use of a VPN for data access and replaced it with Egnyte. It's nice and easy to manage, but setting it up c
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you need control over your files without some ridiculous $23k addon to apply permissions and other attributes to multiple files/folders at the same time, look elsewhere.
No Idea Why Anyone Would Choose Egnyte Over Google Drive or Microsoft OneDrive
What do you like best about the product?
Egnyte Online has a more professional appearance than Google Drive for example and blends seamlessly into Windows folders.
Egnyte Web Edit - (Like Google Docs/Sheets) was a great addition

What do you dislike about the product?
Very confusing when trying to choose apps to integrate for users.
I am IT support for 50-100 users who all use Egnyte in some fashion.
I have multiple notes spanning 3 years about which Egnyte apps are good for what, who uses them, why they should use them. Egnyte "integrates" into so many other file sharing apps,
Here are some of my notes on setting up new users with Egnyte that I learned the hard way:
"Egnyte Connect Desktop App = Good one, install this one
Egnyte Desktop Sync = BAD, uninstall if you find it- don't install for new users
Egnyte WebEdit = Very Good, install, but teach users how to use it and that it exists"
User Groups and Permissions can get very confusing very fast if you don't have solid rules in place or more than one IT staff assigning users to folders.
You have to go hunting on the Egnyte website to get integrations like Egnyte Google Drive,
Egnyte Microsoft Office, Egnyte Connect Desktop,Egnyte Desktop Sync, and then download and install for each user individually, instead of "natural" integrations installing with regular updates. (These are all free, you don't pay extra to have these integration applications.)
Some users never complain and never have issues with syncing or losing their "Egnyte Folder" in Windows, but they are not the majority for us.
It is not intuitive enough for locked down users to troubleshoot on their own each time the sync disconnects, and too complicated for the IT staff of a medium sized company to control proactively.
To be fair, our Egnyte system was set up before I joined the company, but after 3 years and 10+ years of file sharing/collaboration and cloud storage programs, I still haven't grasped why anyone would choose this over Google Drive or Microsoft OneDrive or even DropBox.

What do you like best about the product?
I installed this service for quite some time and is happy with the results. The positivity this service has brought into my life is appreciable and needs to be shared. It transfer the files with great syncing in no time. A person is able to share the items with its colleagues no matter where he is located in the world. The remote working system is managed by its tools. It explores the new sides of collaboration and gives the modern touch to technology. It not only provides the technical help but also has theoretical approach. It also detects the risky items and gets rids of them for one's safety. It creates links to work with the partners in business.
What do you dislike about the product?
The deficiencies I noted while using egnyte connect included default in saving the essential documents. The integration with the different services need time and consideration. Download process prolongs the whole work and the after results obtained are faulty.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This service traces the documents quickly and is getting along with the ongoing processes. It makes things quite easier. The drag and drop tool is great for increasing productivity. The robust interface and flexible layout has made this service attractive. The visibility it offers for full coverage is splendid and promising features are revolutionary. The smooth machinery gives us the advantage in running trades online.

Web interface could use more improvements
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We had a serious network issue earlier in the year, and coupled with the shelter-in-place order we had to migrate to a more user-accessible platform with decent security features immediately. The productivity benefits for our almost 99% stay-at-home workforce has been huge.
Right now we're still in the process of uploading file data to Egnyte, and have been using the recommended SyncBack Pro for this task. It would be excellent if Egnyte had a partnership with a company that offered that sort of product to make the transition more seamless. Still, very happy with the results of using that software for data upload.
We've also realized the utility of having users able to restore older versions or deleted files themselves, that's taken a lot of work off our plate. One feature we would like to see implemented is a user-accessible method to archive files or folders into Amazon Glacier instances via the Egnyte website. We're happy to hear that a product is being developed to script automated movement of files between instances so that we could have a secondary instance available as an archive storage platform (and thus pay less for storing that sort of data tier), but we'd like to empower our users more to do that sort of things themselves.
Another bit that would be helpful is a feature much like Newforma's email filing capability, where users - via Outlook or from within the Gmail web interface - file emails directly into project folders. That would be a HUGE help when wrapping up projects for clients.
Lastly, we also had a demo of their "Protect" service, which was a great fit for us in usability, but the price/benefit ratio isn't there yet. Given it's based on storage capacity instead of user count, the cost they were estimating would have been about the same cost as running the entire platform itself; that's way too high for us, unfortunately. Maybe if the company in question had strict oversight requirements which were required by the state/federal government or regulatory bodies.
