HTML5, The Standard

  • July 16, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
One of the most useful features of HTML5 is its vast tooling support. The ability to craft webpages of varying complexity from text editors as simple as notepad, right up to monolithic tools such as Visual Studio, gives you as the user the freedom to decide how you build your websites. It improves upon
What do you dislike about the product?
The only downside to HTML5 is that ancient browsers will need a shiv to support it (a shiv is simply a compatibility workaround). IE8 is surprisingly still used in some backward organisations, and this browser needs extra help to manage the tags you use in HTML5.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
HTML5 is an easy to use language, and it has allowed me to build websites and have them laid out exactly as I need them. Combined with Javascript and CSS, you can build almost anything you put your mind to, and I have managed to harness the power of these tools myself to create stunning web pages.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are planning on using HTML5, be sure you have a solid understanding of javascript. These two go hand-in-hand when it comes to development, so you will want to make sure you know how to use it to manipulate the webpages you create. Additionally, a firm grasp of cascading stylesheets (CSS) concepts will help tremendously when it comes to development. You can place HTML5 elements anywhere you like on a page, but you will need CSS to have them appear exactly as you'd like.

HTML5

  • June 12, 2019

What do you like best about the product?
HTML5 is simple to use, it includes dynamic functionalities for use in our browsers, its constant evolution has carried out other tools with the flash player and currently for a video with html5 it is light it is functional for mobile applications, among its labels It has multimedia, images, integrable with bootraps, vues and other frontend framework. Documentation in the cloud.
What do you dislike about the product?
Evolve and include more dynamism, more validations at the level of the inputs would be too great, for example to be able to validate a number with a specific format, which obviously does so today but to certain regular expressions.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

Recommendations to others considering the product:
use it, ease of use

The alerts sometimes come well after the event actually occurred.

A great product

  • December 19, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
We enjoy the insight into our assets, lockout capability, and most of all the ability to remotely run scripts. Need to run a PowerShell script on all your machines, even those not dialing in to your VPN regularly? This product does that and it's awesome. It can be set to run either privileged or as the user, and we've found it very valuable when we need to get a change to remote laptops quickly. For small / medium business this fills a real gap.

The laptop tracking and lockout functionality is the longest and most well known feature of this product, and is why we originally purchased it. It would be worthwhile just for that.
What do you dislike about the product?
Licensing control in the portal has had some confusing moments as they transitioned to new product lines and our seats somehow got divided across two different license types. Our rep was helpful in navigating us through this when it arose.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tracking and protecting our assets. We have recovered at least one laptop from a former employee refusing to send it back - as soon as laptop lockout occurred and laptop was not usable they changed their tune and cooperated promptly. Magically they located the device once they couldn't use it anymore...hmm :)
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try out their product if you haven't used it yet. You should be able to start with just a few seats, and is available direct or via resellers such as your hardware supplier. Hardware support for this product is built into almost every business laptop, and the management and lockout capabilities are great to have. It's simple to setup and in my opinion - a great value.

Like this product

What do you like best about the product?
I like how easy it is to install. I am currently using a remote installation program as I have laptops all over and they come and go from the office, so being able to remotely install this product has been a blessing. I am currently using the command line switches and have not had any major issues.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike how long it takes to get a hold of tech support. When I first started with Absolute, it was with LoJack. I did not understand the difference, however once I did find out it took a very long time to get the licenses transferred over from LoJack to Absolute. There was a lot of disconnects between myself and tech support as I do not think they had a full understanding of how to go about this task. Needless to say, we have been successfully migrated and everything (minus a few hiccups), things are going well.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our need for this product stemmed from a couple of our laptops getting stolen and since most of our users travel the world, it seemed like the right solution for us. I am able to track the location of the laptop and really it is more a piece of mind knowing that if the laptop was to get lost, we have a greater chance of recovery.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would recommend Absolute to anyone looking at tracking laptops from a corporate level. However do not get Absolute confused with LoJack, which LoJack is their consumer product and Absolute is their corporate product.

Complete UI with Endpoint Data Discovery (DLP-Lite) and lots of capability.

  • December 03, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Endpoint Data Discovery is a DLP-Lite that tracks down credit card, social security, and password information on endpoints. Couple that with selective file delete and a little user warning and you have a way to decrease risk of information release on specific endpoints at greater risk.
Training is easily available within the UI.
What do you dislike about the product?
Moving systems between policies is a bit cumbersome. You have to remove and re-add. It would be better if you could flag assets and move them with a single move command.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Risk related to credit card, social security, and password information on endpoints.
Incident response with the Absolute Reach capability.
