Syxsense Review

  • February 08, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Ease of use. I have worked w/ Syxsense on multiple projects and have always appreciated how easy the product is to use/implement
What do you dislike about the product?
As much as I love Syxsense, most of my customers have not heard of you. Getting the Syxsense name in the mix on an opportunity does come with its challenges
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Discover and group network devices, remotely deploy software updates and applications and automate patch updates. Another great selling point is that users are able to schedule software installments and updates during down time.

Patch Management Made Easy

  • February 08, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
One of the main pros of this software is the ability to easily see the status of your devices in one place, to easily pick out devices that need updating. Being able to click on the device and view a fully detailed view of the device and the patches available for it saves so much time for us as in IT department. Another pro is the ability to schedule patch installations to avoid downtime during the day. The report feature is also very useful for auditing and tracing purposes.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes the admin portal can be slow, but overall it doesn't make too much of an impact on my use of the product.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is an easy and quick way of conducting patch management and saves me time by giving me a central place to complete patching of our servers. It has certainly made a difference in my day-to-day tasks.

Great patch management solution for your small to medium sized business

  • February 08, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Syxsense helps our team ensure our endpoints are patched and protected from exploits by proactively managing the Microsoft and third-party patches deployed to our workstations.
What do you dislike about the product?
Syxsense has some of what I call "bolt-ons" which are there to enhance the software's value in addition to their primary mission of patch management. One of them is remote control of endpoints. It works, but it's typically slow and low resolution. We use it as our backup to our primary remote control software. The other one is reporting of which user is assigned to or logged into which asset. It typically doesn't work (at least not well, lots of names missing) and Syxsense acknowledges this. We wish this worked much better than it currently does.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The problems our company solves with Syxsense is patch management. Instead of relying on Microsoft's SCCM solution which can only handle Microsoft products, we use Syxsense to manage not only that but also third-party application patching.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you're looking for a patch management solution, I'd highly recommend it. Just know that that's what it is and that the other things they offer may not be as robustly developed or supported as the core functionality.

Evolution of a great product

  • January 24, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Originally we purchased Absolute for its theft and loss mitigation. Over the years we have used it for asset management and most recently application persistence
What do you dislike about the product?
Menus can become a bit difficult to navigate at times, reporting especially for remote wipe is not as intuitive as it could be. It would be nice to be able to select multiple computers when returning off lease machines, I know it is restricted so you cannot accidentally wipe multiple machines but I think this could be remedied by using a two factor password to make sure someone really wanted to remove the device
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Asset management and product life cycle management is our primary use for Absolute we have also started using it for Asset tracking and geofencing recently and have found it to be very capable.

Essential endpoint security and management

  • January 17, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Absolute gives us the ability to manage our laptop and desktop estate remotely, providing essential usage and security statistics. Geo-Location and IP reporting helps me keep track of asset locations.

Once installed it's baked into the BIOS so cannot be removed by anybody without authorisation. Even if the HDD is removed and replaced, Absolute will re-download itself and monitor the device!

It now comes with an optional suite of tools to recover your device after a malware attack or if unrecoverable a-la-crowdstrike! Very useful indeed
What do you dislike about the product?
There's nothing to dislike with the product; it does everything we need it to and more! What's more the product is continually being developed and new features are regularly added to improve our endpoint management.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have used absolute to track ongoing usage of devices, especially laptops. Those that have not been used for more than 30 days can be identified and the users contacted to establish why they haven't logged in. If there's no good reason then the laptop can be reclaimed and issued to a new member of staff. It's a great money saver as laptops aren't being left in drawers while we're buying new devices. Laptops that breach our United Kingdom geofence can be quickly locked down too - unless there's a good reason for taking them out of the country of course!

We also recently manage to recover a laptop that had been stolen and wiped then installed a new version of Windows. Absolute re-applied itself and checked in with a geo location. Info was passed to the police and device recovered.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Absolute offer a trial of their products, its well worth giving it a try.

Hardware Management designed for a lot of assets

  • November 22, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Despire the large amount of items loaded into the product, searching for a workstation, even through thousands, only takes a few seconds to load the query and find what you are looking for.
What do you dislike about the product?
Software/application mapping is a little off. You can ssearch applications and you can vew installs, but the grouping/tagging to allow you to find all versions of a product isn't quire right
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
When you need to know what hardare assets you have, their hardware configuration, and last stats in terms of resource load and network info makes tracking items down easier

A clean and helpful product for managing lost devices

  • November 19, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Absolute's site is clean and easy to navigate. It's not often I have to go digging through their guidebooks because the portal is pretty intuitive.
What do you dislike about the product?
While most of the portal is intuitive, I wish there was some consistency in feedback when it comes to what is the recommended process for certain events.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Maintaining and managing our mobile devices. It's great at putting companies at ease knowing your mobile devices are protected in the case of a theft/misplacement

What do you like best about the product?
Absolute gives us peace of mind while our employees work from home. The self-healing connection keeps our endpoints and software healthy and up-to-date. Reporting features provide us with status updates and help us in planning.
What do you dislike about the product?
Complete installation and status reporting are faulty sometimes. It takes time to report the status on the console, and some machines are in a corrupt state and need installation.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are trying to get our endpoints secure while they are remote. Pusing out scrips are great help and helped us in securing our laptops with latest updates and patches.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is a great way to manage your mobile endpoints.

Absolute is great to locate devices

  • November 18, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Absolute is helpful when you try to locate devices. It tells you who was last connected to the device and when. It also shows details of the device, which is crucial to identify the equipment.
What do you dislike about the product?
A downside of Absolute is that it does not show an exact location for the device. It only indicates the IP address of the device. It would be great if the location of the device is added as a future feature.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have been able to find devices that were lost in the past.
