Unified endpoint insights have improved patching and risk reduction across diverse environments

  • December 03, 2025
  • Review from a verified AWS customer

What is our primary use case?

Tanium is used for heterogeneous endpoint management in general. As a consultant, I work with different customers across multiple industries. Tanium could be useful in finance, education, federal, and I have worked with companies in education, distribution, logistics, manufacturing, and aerospace. Some of them do have Tanium in those situations.

What is most valuable?

Tanium’s best features include support for any Windows, Linux, or Mac endpoint, regardless of where it is, and the ability to do IT operations and security operations. That’s really the big benefit.

I assess Tanium’s real-time data aggregation capabilities for aiding risk identification or remediation as probably the best in the industry.

While Tanium doesn’t call it that, I utilize dashboards and reporting for analytics for endpoint performance insights.

Regarding the metrics that are most useful with Tanium’s detailed analytics, it depends on what your goal is and what problem you’re trying to solve or what you’re trying to address, because it does so much with both IT operations and security operations.

What needs improvement?

Tanium has top of the line integration. There are areas that could be improved with Tanium, in my opinion, with continuous improvements anywhere.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Tanium for five years.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Tanium is suitable for small and medium businesses at around 5,000 endpoints and under.

How are customer service and support?

I rate Tanium’s support as very good.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

What other advice do I have?

I am still using Tanium within the last 12 months.

I do use the automated patch management with Tanium.

Patching with Tanium, if you’re doing regular patching manually or automated, is going to reduce vulnerability findings.

I think the pricing for Tanium is fair enough for small and medium businesses and enterprise. It's good for multiple kinds of use cases, but I would say it’s better for enterprise.

Overall, I would rate Tanium an eight on a scale of one to ten.

Real-Time Visibility at Scale with Tanium Platform

  • November 20, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love how the Tanium Platform provides answers in seconds instead of hours, which allows me to build resources that are always current. I appreciate how it consolidates endpoint data into one view, eliminating guesswork and making troubleshooting straightforward. I also enjoy the platform's stability and scalability, as once I solve a problem with Tanium, I can scale the solution across the entire environment. This fits perfectly with my style of building reusable cheat sheets and syncing with other tools. Tanium's ability to turn complex technical data into actionable insights makes it easier to document fixes and empower teams. I like that it helps confirm compliance and patch status quickly, which strengthens customer trust and internal workflows. The speed and clarity provided by Tanium allow me to see what's happening across endpoints in real-time, enabling me to document solutions and share accurate and actionable cheat sheets with my team. Tanium's not just a tool; it's a way to ensure operational excellence.
What do you dislike about the product?
I find the learning curve of Tanium Platform to be quite steep. Despite its power and capability, the lack of clear onboarding resources can make the initial experience overwhelming. I often spend additional time navigating through menus to locate the data I need, which slows down my workflow. The platform provides a lot of raw visibility, but it doesn't necessarily translate into customer-friendly language. This means I have to invest extra effort to convert technical insights into ready-to-share guides, owing to its comprehensive nature. Additionally, Tanium can be resource-intensive, which isn't always suitable for environments with limited bandwidth or older hardware. While the platform is robust, learning to navigate it effectively takes time. Furthermore, although Tanium offers excellent technical visibility, transforming this into operational language for my team requires additional steps, which can slow down processes.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use the Tanium Platform for instant visibility into endpoints, speeding up troubleshooting and ensuring real-time insights. It consolidates data into one view, removes guesswork, and helps scale solutions across the organization efficiently.

Adapting management tools to meet secure environments while leveraging strong dashboard capabilities

  • April 25, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

We initially conducted a proof of concept with Tanium, but we ended up using Patch My PC on the Windows side and a plugin called Superman for Jamf on Mac devices. Our environment is highly restrictive with no administrative rights, which led to limitations with some solutions.

What is most valuable?

Tanium provides a comprehensive suite for managing devices, not just patching. The dashboard and backend services offered by Tanium are excellent. However, in our specific environment, we couldn't fully utilize these features due to security constraints.

What needs improvement?

Tanium required local admin or root rights on Mac devices, which did not comply with our security policies. This made the solution less suitable for our restrictive environment.

For how long have I used the solution?

I tested Tanium in the first half of last year.

How are customer service and support?

I can't recall if we used Tanium's professional services. With Patch My PC, we worked with a third-party reseller who provided an engineer to help configure the service, which was very helpful.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

What about the implementation team?

With Patch My PC, we worked with a third-party reseller who provided an engineer to help configure the service.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Patch My PC was significantly cheaper compared to Tanium. Full suite solutions like Tanium have similar price ranges based on list prices, but real prices vary after negotiations.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We evaluated Tanium and some other full suite solutions that manage not just patching but also reboot management, application installation, and service management.

What other advice do I have?

Tanium is a very good product and I would rate it eight or nine out of ten. It's a great tool for central management and patch management for devices. I would definitely consider it for future use, provided we can address the root account issues.

Effective compliance and inventory management impress while leaving room for improvement in overall experience

  • April 18, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

The primary use case for Tanium is compliance, patching, and inventory as part of the core functions.

What is most valuable?

I find the inventory and compliance features of Tanium to be the most impressive. They are very effective for endpoint security, and the solution is scalable and easy to install without any problems.

What needs improvement?

While there is always room for improvement, I am pleased with Tanium.

For how long have I used the solution?

Tanium was commissioned two to three months ago, making it relatively new to us.

What was my experience with deployment of the solution?

Tanium is a very scalable and easy-to-install solution. We did not experience any problems during deployment.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I find Tanium to be very scalable.

How are customer service and support?

So far, I am satisfied with their customer service. I would rate their technical support as an eight.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup took about three weeks, including testing and configuring, with the first results viewable after about three to four weeks.

What about the implementation team?

We did the majority of the implementation ourselves, with a bit of support from Tanium.

What was our ROI?

The return on investment is a bit on the higher side, but due to its completeness, if we can get rid of other solutions or combine multiple tasks with it, it is reasonable.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The pricing is on the higher side. However, to make it economically viable, you need to have a considerable setup to find your return on investment in reducing management time.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I looked at Trellix versus Tanium.

What other advice do I have?

For smaller companies, Tanium is quite a big investment, and one needs to have a considerable setup to make it economically viable. I would recommend it to others with a similar use case. The solution fits the bill at the moment for what we try to do with it. I would rate Tanium at seven and a half to eight overall.

Immediate results in patching promptly address vulnerabilities

  • February 24, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use Tanium for patching, focusing on vulnerabilities. Our major goal with Tanium is to patch based on vulnerabilities detected by our other vulnerability tools.

What is most valuable?

It's a little difficult, however, I get results immediately once I start patching something. When I push a quick update, it's done right away, and I can rescan immediately to confirm completion within minutes. This is a pro because most patching tools take a while to reflect changes, but Tanium updates quickly.

What needs improvement?

When working with Tanium, there are some older devices that haven't been patched for a long time, and certain patches are not included in Tanium. I have to search outside to download patches, create bundles, and then perform the task. It would be easier if Tanium provided the patches directly. Some other brands provide the patch with a direct download link, which facilitates the process.

Also, I feel that if there were more detailed documents and remediations readily available online for troubleshooting, especially more up-to-date information, it would be beneficial. Currently, some resources online are very out-of-date.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Tanium for the last three or four years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I would rate stability around mid-level. I haven't noticed severe problems, however, don't feel entirely confident in marking it as very stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution is scalable, and I would rate it seven out of ten on scalability. I haven't faced any significant limitations.

How are customer service and support?

Customer service is good. However, I would appreciate more comprehensive documentation for troubleshooting.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

What other advice do I have?

If there was a feature that could group devices with similar problems for troubleshooting, it would be beneficial.

Overall, I rate Tanium an eight out of ten.
