What is our primary use case?
What is most valuable?
We can check modify permissions and file removals, and connect the Varonis Data Security Platform to our storage systems like NetApp.
When we add a filer to Varonis, there's a policy that automatically connects the SVM or CIFS shares. That's good. We can automatically add these without changes.
We can easily check logs and find out who modified a file or folder.
What needs improvement?
There is one thing that if I add something manually, I get so many alerts. That's the biggest bad thing.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using it for six years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
I would rate the stability a nine out of ten. It is stable for me. There are no issues, no bugs and no breakdown.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
It's included in three or four projects.
We never had any issues with scalability. We also have free training from Varonis on how to use it.
How are customer service and support?
The customer service and support are good.

How was the initial setup?
The initial setup is easy. It is a good tool to manage storage and get snapshot backups.
For Varonis deployment it takes almost three to four hours.
The software updates automatically. We can check it in the manager.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
The pricing is good. It neither expensive nor cheap. It is average.
What other advice do I have?
I would like to recommend it. In one tool, we can see everything. We can check 180 days of files and see if anyone has made changes.
There's also a 90-day policy where if a user is not using the warehouse, it will automatically delete that username.
Overall, I would rate the solution a nine out of ten.

What do you like best about the product?
For us, the primary use case was identifying incorrect data file and folder permissions across our landscape. Thanks to Varonis, we've been able to clean up and correct years of bad practices.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are a lot of alerts and quite a bit of "white noise" to filter through until you get everything dialed-in.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Over exposed data that should not be accessible by large internal populations.
