Alerting and metrics improve monitoring efficiency while pricing presents challenges
What is our primary use case?
The primary purposes for which Datadog is used include infrastructure monitoring and application monitoring.
The main use case for Datadog integration capabilities is to monitor workloads in public cloud, and those public cloud integrations that reached the public cloud metric natively were helpful or critical for us. We are not using Datadog for AI-driven data analysis tasks, but more cloud-native and vendor-native tools at the moment, and at the time when I was still in my last employer, we didn't use Datadog for the AI piece at all.
What is most valuable?
I find alerting and metrics to be the most effective features of Datadog for system monitoring. It was still cheaper to run Datadog than other alternatives, so the running costs were cheaper because it was SaaS and quite easy to use.
Datadog is only available in SaaS.
What needs improvement?
The pricing nowadays is quite complex.
In future updates, I would like to see AI features included in Datadog for monitoring AI spend and usage to make the product more versatile and appealing for the customer.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using Datadog since 2014.
What was my experience with deployment of the solution?
There were no problems with the deployment of Datadog.
The deployment of Datadog just took a few hours.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
The challenges I encountered while using Datadog were in the early days when the product was missing the ability to monitor Kubernetes and similar features, but they have since added those features. At the moment, I don't think there are too many challenges that I am worrying about.
How was the initial setup?
One person is enough to do the installation.
What other advice do I have?
I am not working with any of these solutions currently because I'm on sabbatical, but I used to work with Datadog six months ago, and now at the moment I'm on sabbatical.
We were using the tools that AWS and Azure came with natively to monitor the AI workflows on their platforms.
I used to work as the CTO at Northcloud, but I no longer work there.
On a scale of one to ten, I rate Datadog an eight out of ten.
If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?
Other
Decoding Chaos with Datadog
What do you like best about the product?
What impressed me most was how observability didn't feel like an afterthought. From the momentI integrated our service, I started discovering unknown bottlenecks without even setting custom alerts.
What do you dislike about the product?
Switching between dashboards, logs, and monitor sometimes felt like context switching between apps. I wished there were more shortcuts stitch it together.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Datadog helps us reduce our incident response time drastically connecting metrics, logs and traces in one place. We used to rely on multiple disconnected tools , now we catch issue earlier and more context.

Great monitor without a lot of overhead
What do you like best about the product?
Simplicity. Lots of effort into the AI. Huge amount of integrations.
What do you dislike about the product?
I have no complaints. I with cost spikes could be monitored automatically other than create your oun set of monitors.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Mostly organizing different sources in one place
Managed Security Operations Center
What do you like best about the product?
Datadog is very easy to use. Pivoting between security signals, logs, and event data is straightforward because it is bundled into one callout pane. Writing detection rules is very easy in the GUI. Having a DevSecOps platform to house all data is the best approach to the security problem.
What do you dislike about the product?
Security should be contained within one page, rather than broken out into multiple SKUs -- for example, if there is a log detection trigger, I should be able to see the information from Workload Security, CSPM, etc. about the host in question in the same pane. Exporting detection rules in Terraform from the Datadog platform does not produce clean Terraform code and there are syntax errors reported. The Datadog learning platform needs to be bolstered.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is bridging the gap between Security and DevOps.
Ease of use
What do you like best about the product?
centralized view and ease to take action as needed
What do you dislike about the product?
Pricing of the product, please make sure the pricing works for SMB's

all-in-one tool for observability and monitoring.
What do you like best about the product?
end-to-end observability of our entire stack
What do you dislike about the product?
There are sometime too many documentation which is at times hard to get our apps instrumented right. For example, we had a hard time getting trace propagation working. They were multiple docs suggesting different methods which made it harder
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Observability in a distributed serverless architecture.
Datadog is wonderful and enhanced-observability tool
What do you like best about the product?
can ingest multiple data and centralized view.
UI is very user-friendly. so it is very easy to understand.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is difficult to estimate and calculate cost. sometimes the cost increases unexpectedlly without notice.
can easy to implement but if not proper design or configuration, cannot utilize Datadog fully.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
quick troubleshooting and entire develop customer survices
