Review of Solid Edge
What do you like best about the product?
Solid Edge provides a very intuitive interface that makes it easier to transition from 2D drafting to 3D modeling. The synchronous technology is one of its strongest points, allowing fast design iterations without constantly worrying about the feature tree. I also appreciate its strong integration with simulation tools, which helps catch potential issues early in the design process. For projects that require collaboration, the ability to manage large assemblies efficiently has been a huge time-saver.
What do you dislike about the product?
Although powerful, Solid Edge can be resource-heavy, and performance sometimes slows down when handling extremely complex assemblies. The licensing and update process could also be more straightforward, especially for smaller teams without dedicated IT support. Some file compatibility issues arise when exchanging models with other CAD platforms, which occasionally requires additional cleanup work.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Solid Edge has streamlined our product development cycle by reducing the time between initial concept and final prototype. Its built-in simulation tools mean fewer physical prototypes, saving both cost and time. The ability to quickly modify designs without having to remodel everything has been a significant advantage in responding to client feedback.
Good but needs improvement

What do you dislike about the product?
What I dislike about Solid Edge is that while it offers powerful features, it can sometimes feel overwhelming for beginners, with a steep learning curve and occasional performance slowdowns when handling very large assemblies or complex models.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Solid Edge is helping me design and simulate mechanical components more efficiently, reducing the need for repeated physical prototypes. This saves both time and cost, while also improving accuracy and collaboration within projects
QUICK, USER FRIENDLY AND EFFICIENT CAD SOFTWARE (SOLIDE EDGE)
What do you like best about the product?
Solid Edge interface is quite user friendly with less clutter of icons and modelling tools conviently placed on straightforward positions which can enable learning it within a few days. Solid Edge Synchronous Technology has made my 3D modelling tasks less strenuous and more efficient with less cycle time per each model as compared to the previous CAD software I have been using. Solid Edge has been a game changer in my design work.
What do you dislike about the product?
Solid Edge has actually made my design work a lot easier and efficient.I haven't experienced any observable shortcomings. Adding Built in Computational Fluid Dynamics options in the Academic and Community Editions for stress simulation will make it even more convinient for design work to the common student and/or early career reasearchers.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Solid Edge is greatly assisting me in my design work with engineering communication from product conceptualisation to fabrication drawings and product realisation. Stress simulation features help to do Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and help validate designs for stress and failure before fabricating the real product as fabrication/manufacturing of product before validation for failure modes can turn out to be costly if changes are required. Synchronous technology also helps to quickly make changes and updates to existing designs thereby reducing lead time from the product conceptual phase to fabrication.

Easy interface, easy to use for designing parts, assembling different parts of a system, the person can easily train themselves on the software.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are plenty of files that make the software a little heavy to use. It is necessary to make the software less heavy for users, especially for those who do not have high-performance computers.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Solid Edge actually facilitates the design of mechanical parts, especially for an assembly system where each part can be designed separately and then all these parts are assembled. Additionally, it is very easy to use and understand the interfaces, and one of the best things is the shortcuts that can be used either with the mouse or the keyboard, which then speeds up the design process.
It was easy to master and has a lot of prototyping posibilities
What do you like best about the product?
The fact that for students we got a free version to use that had all the functions was a huge plus. You can also link it with already designed prototypes of various siemens machines and electronics. Esay to intergrate with siemens logosoft.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some users dislike Solid Edge because it can feel less intuitive than competitors like SolidWorks, has a smaller user community hence has fewer tutorials/resources since it it used mostly by big companies, and sometimes faces compatibility or stability issues with very large or complex assemblies
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
for me as a mechatronics student I get to prototype my models and simulate before attempting to build the real thing, for example when we desinged a robot hand we built the model to scale using solid edge and imported the actuators we used into solid edge then simulated the movement and adjusted the measurements accordingly.
