One of the best drafting and designing software available
What do you like best about the product?
It is very effective and efficient tool to design and draft different 3D parts as per our requirements. It xan handle very difficult and complex geometry very well. Also its provide the option to draft the part in 2D for easy understanding of part geometry and its dimension. If any error or misktake happens during part designing u can qlso modify it, and the best part is if you change the one dimension or parts geometry simultaneously other parts dimension that are directly or indirectly connected to it also change its position so you dont have to worry about designing whole parts from starting you can easily modify it. Also it gives you the option to assemble different parts in one file so that you can see the whole assembly also you can see the parts that are intersect to each other, also it gives the option to set different part in motion to see it combined movement also you can to 1 1) structural anlysis like, pressure, torque, displacement, force 2) body laod anlysis like, temperature, centrifugal force, gravity, 3) thermal lodas like, radiation, heatflux this are the different types of anlysis we can do in any object or assembly, also we can add constraints to differant object to see it movement with respect to otherassemby parts, also its has a option for the surface modeling, if you have to made parts with ita suraface only solid edge can provide you the option, if the object has to move on specifif path in real situation so as we can see its movement according to it by giving the same path movement to the drawing also, so to save the cost of actual part manufacturing if it has any defect or required modification we can easily know by creating tha same situation in software also. Also solid egde is integrated with simens team center and PLM solution it is very viable option to that who uses this software very oftenly, also solid edge habdle any other software file if its converted in STP/STEP file.you can give the object different appearance and can give desire material properties as it gives you thewhole material library section to use . it has many more advantages so solid edge id the must use software.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are no so much despike for this software but e thing i dont like about the software is if you eant to use it efficiently and effectively you must have knowledge of each and every comand postion on tool bar, as its not gives you option to search or derectly select the command by only typing it Auto-Cad software, so if you have not enough knowledge of toolbar and its comma d position the software is difiicult to use, also the software has the problem to open or use the file of solid edge from different version.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am a mechanical engineer working in a manufacturing company, so solid edge is the part of our daily life, we use this software to design different part of the machine or to design and modified new structure or parts for the machine in 3D models of complex dimension and geometry, we use this software for assembl different parts in assembly file to see all the parts are fits in each other, also we use this software for 2D drafting of that different parts and assembly to send ouside for manufacturing. Also our organization use team center software by simens so as to open and see different standard part file we use solid edge software, sometimes in assembly file we use motion tool bae to give gives different objevt constrain and path of motion to see the working of the different parts in single assembly model.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Ye sit is the best software available in the market for 3D designing, assembly drawing

What do you like best about the product?
Solid Edge has one of the best user-interface in the design industry. Solid Edge can be used in both 2D and 3D drawing as well as in simulation segment. One of the best things I like about Solidedge is it's Ordered design method, which is history-based. Solid Edge is aslo good in coverting 3D drawings to draft files. It also has digital library of the engineered part. One thingI like compare to other is that you can directly creat threads on any surface without first creating hole and then thread.Solid edge also have good commands in sheet metal segements under the tab of surfacing. You can also switch between Ordered and Syncronous transtion.
What do you dislike about the product?
What I dislike the most about the Solid edge is it's Synchronous method. In the synchronous mode if you draw a sketch of part and then extrude it, in the future if you update the sketch only sketch will be updated and the extruded part will reamin according to old sketch.
In orderd mode if you update one thing all other things associated with that will also update. This is not the case in the Synchronous method.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Currently we are using Solid Edge for drawing and design of Jig, Fixtures & Tools. WE are using it for assembly of all the parts to check the compatibility of newly design parts. Sometimes we also use Solid Edge to check the properties of existing tools and to check strengths and stress distribution.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make some modification in Synchronous mode to make it more user-friendly.

What do you like best about the product?
The User Interface. It's the best among other available softwares.
What do you dislike about the product?
Limitation of file conversions. It would have been great if all 3d software files were available.

Stress analysis. It's a great and easy way to go all along.

How it aligns every piece correctly and also how it adapts to changes in sizes

Sometimes it won´t tell you directly what is wrong in the model in order to solve it

I use it to design furniture, and it helps me a lot because it lets me see clearly the pieces with the different perforations and its alignments.

Solid Edge a 3D Drafting & Modeling Software used for Solid, Assembly and 2D Designing
What do you like best about the product?
I have used Solid Edge and like to do assembling multiple parts wrt different plans and criteria to create a single complete product design of mainly mechanical models. It is pretty convenient to assemble components on a solid edge. Good for runnign simulations.
What do you dislike about the product?
The price is competitive. The user interface is a little down as compared to solid works, so solid works is more user-friendly. 3D sketching is not available in the solid edge. In addition, the solid edge needs some time and skills to work and play with it properly and effeciently.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I was making mechanical parts of my projects and assignments.

Please reconsider license pricing and user interface.
Much of the features were easy to learn, variety of tools included in the package.
What do you like best about the product?
I loved the topology optimization feature inside of it. Not that it is not available in other packages. It is also available in Solidworks, however inside of Solid edge, it was much more intuitive and easy to learn. Also, I felt it provided better results in less time than Solidworks. I also liked the "Migration Tool" provided inside the package. This allowed me to easily migrate my Solidworks files to Solidedge.
What do you dislike about the product?
I feel the motion simulation package has room to work on. Multibody dynamics seems quite sketchy to work with. Also, we couldn't find any tutorials on the internet that correctly mention how it can be used properly. The sketch section was not that intuitive as well, and the overall modelling of bodies seemed to have a very steep learning curve, than compared to Solidworks. Also, I feel it's time that CAD companies start adding node-based modeling to their tools. If Solidedge does it, I'll be glad to shift completely to Solidedge only.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Currently, I'm only using Solidedge for topology optimization and Simulation right now. I feel these are the features that are much easier to perform anywhere else. I don't model large assemblies inside it, but just import them from other tools. I work in designing machine components, especially for the brick machine industry. I use the tool for optimizing the link shapes.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The learning curve may be steeper than others, but it is worth trying as it offers many features in a single package for an inexpensive amount.

You can find all the essential commands easily on top and software takes less time to load and process tasks

I do 3D modelling using SolidEdge and it is fairly easier to navigate.

I like the Synchronous model environment of Solid Edge.

It will be very useful if direct editing of Features and Faces is possible even in Ordered model environment which in turn updates the sketches accordingly.
