Onshape is a great CAD solution for those that don't have expensive hardware
What do you like best about the product?
I like its versatility and the fact that it allows me to create almost anything I can imagine and the system rarely fails. I never have to worry about my files going missing. I can travel back in time with my models without having to pay too close attention to the structure of my tree. This also allows me to go for adventurous processes without fearing corrupt files. When this does occur and I cant fix it the support is very quick and helpful. Filleting processes take hardly any time. And the system is quite flexible you can usually find a work around for any geometry you need to make. The best thing I think is its public license and learning resources.
What do you dislike about the product?
The faceting of curved forms can be quite problematic as you need to return to the sketches to check your tolerances. This has been much improved since a couple of years ago though. Also the file loading times for the same files vary quite greatly. The Updates are very cool but I work in a quite dynamic environment so I don't always have time to keep up with them. Potentially opting into updates by industry/past work could be useful i.e Design for 3D printing update. It sometimes feels as if onshape is focusing on these updates instead of sureing up the basics like exporting DXFs at the right scale without the need to edit them for laser cutting etc..
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Its great for making things open source and on the occasions when I do collaborate remotely it is useful. Also it is reasonably price when you consider that the hardware overheads don't have to be so high.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Learn the basics, See what you can make with mastering a few processes, Then add more techniques to your CAD theory.
Easy on your computer
What do you like best about the product?
Computing on the cloud frees up the memory on my computer to do other things. It also allows me to CAD quickly without a powerful computer (or device).
What do you dislike about the product?
There is a lack of features that would be very helpful (for example, colors in drawings)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We're designing a small piece of hardware from scratch, and the non-bulky, built-in file management is very helpful.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try it!
A collaborative CAD program that makes designing with a team easier than ever
What do you like best about the product?
The screensharing feature and the ability to quickly search through a large number of documents. The freeform file system allows you to organize your projects in the way that works best for your team.
What do you dislike about the product?
Still missing several helpful tools, but more are being added every day.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We can easily share CAD with read-writes to external consultants and non-traditional CAD user to easily share information.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Consider the time it will take to convert projects over and plan accordingly. Easier to start with than to convert to.
Laser Operations and Quoting
What do you like best about the product?
That I can show people my work on the fly to both customers and employees. That if i need to make a change on something but need to keep the older one that I can then version the product to recall how it appeared
What do you dislike about the product?
No Bend deduction in the sheet metal function (only k-factor). This is a major thing as bend deduction is a much easier for a shop to deal with as each machine is different. K-factor is to static and doesn't work for all bend types.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Being able to take a design and quickly share it with clients or take a product in production and show what the final product looks like in a 3d environment
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Definitely give it a try the cloud based storage might seems intimidating to some but if anything it's more liberating
With features from inventor and solidworks, you get the best of both worlds.
What do you like best about the product?
My favorite feature in OnShape is that you can edit in an assembly by using the "edit in context" and the various types of mating features.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like the detailing or blue print side of this program. I feel like adding sheets and creating title blocks should be easier.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Assemblies are faster and easier. Loading files and transferring files saves so much time. Being able to let other people view your files without making sure they have big programs on their computer. I love being able to look at my projects while on the go.
Great online CAD modelling
What do you like best about the product?
Having a CAD modelling system, which can be accessed from everywhere just having an internet connection is great, especially for people who travel a lot.
What do you dislike about the product?
It cannot be used offline, even without saving option
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Onshape helped me a lot thanks to the service they provide for customers. I could generate the exact features I needed for the design of our product
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would recommend Onshape to everyone. Easy to use and great quality of support!
Very Stable
What do you like best about the product?
I enjoy the stability of OnShape within the browser of your choice across any platform OS.
What do you dislike about the product?
At times complicated models take some time to load, however OnShape as implemented a process times which shows you which features take the longest, so we you can move them around your feature tree and not load them, or think of ways to recapture the feature to decrease the load time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
No need for expensive hardware to utilize OnShape and other cloud CAD features. Sharing files with vendors and customer, as well as a repository for version control
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try the free version, follow the webinars and use Google to help you out.
Full Functional Free Cad
What do you like best about the product?
All the functionality of other CAD programs for free is an amazing deal, and it's very easy to get used to when moving from Solidworks to this.
What do you dislike about the product?
Overall the online interface is much more slow and lags frequently, basic tools outright don't work, replacing bodies in assemblies is impossible, there are no assembly configurations, conversion tool rarely works correctly, error messages are ambiguous and very hard to diagnose. Loads forever.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We moved from SolidWorks to this for better cloud integration and collaborative efforts, and so far that has proven perfectly effective.
Great product, has room to approve but they are constantly updating
What do you like best about the product?
I like the ability to move between devices.
What do you dislike about the product?
Missing some key features in drawings, but still constantly improving
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Working from home or remotely is much easier
I'd buy stock if I could. The future of CAD
What do you like best about the product?
It's hard to choose what I like the best. Cost, low hardware requirements, built-in revision control and PDM?
The greatest features are Configurations and In Context design. Configurations are configured such that a fraction of the work is required to implement thousands of options.
In Context design means being able to keep your contexts once the design is done and never worry about your designs and details self-destructing if a later user makes a simple change or move.

What do you dislike about the product?
Lagging features. While I'm confident they will come, there are some features that should have been there in the beginning that have taken too long to appear. (NPT Ports, anyone?)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With the advanced configurations, we have the potential to create entire product line models in one Parts Studio. The possibilities for use in marketing, customer service, and sales aids are phenomenal.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Onshape can coexist with Solidworks and other CAD systems. Its ability to communicate designs with customers and remove the possibility of loss of data or revision history makes it a serious contender for your main system.
If I could own stock in this company, I would. It's a total game-changer.
