I'm very please with Onshape's functionality and simplicity.

What do you like best about the product?
It runs in a browser on Windows, Linux, Max, or Chrome OS. I'm doing solid modeling on a $159 Chromebox and that boggles my mind.
What do you dislike about the product?
I want better control of my files. I'd like to see a Google Drive sync API.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Time savings is dramatic. Onshape is easy to learn. If I could have better file integration with Google Drive or another cloud based file storage, I'd be all-in with Onshape for every CAD seat in our office.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's free to try it.

Great CAD software for a modern, innovative company

  • January 31, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
i believe the best features are related to the cloud aspect. The availability of all projects on any device, combined with the efficient version control and the real-time collaboration features make Onshape stand out. Furthermore, the user-friendliness of fhe software in combination with the power of the tools at the user’s disposal make Onshape a great tool for any design/engineering company. One specific example is the recent addition of configurations. It allows the user to change the value of certain parameters to make several design iterations from in one model space. Lastly, the customer support is collaborative and efficient in implementing user requested features in short time-frames.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is not much to dislkie considering the good customer support and the regular updates. It is obvous the company listens to the user base and uses the feedback they receive. This in mult opinion is the most important aspect a comany like Onshape should pay attention to.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The fact that all versions can be stored in one document which is in the cloud is very efficient, both in terms of access and in terms of storage space.
The ability to easily share an aspect of a model with a customer while only allowing certain actions is also of great help

Fluid CAD-experience and great support, though I wouldn't use it to model a full oil rig just yet.

What do you like best about the product?
They call it the CAD-program for the future for a reason. I'm not talking about the modelling tools and CAD environment, though this is certainly modern as well, but the pricing model and never having to update/install and keep buying the next version of your CAD software every year to get the newest features and bug fixes. Onshape keeps everything updated for you, and even though it is sort of a work in progress, and some features may be lacking at the moment, new features are added every 3rd weeks and will very soon have everything you need.

Oh, and it has built in PDM.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some features are still lacking or not quite ironed out. But will probably be happy with them within the next year. There is little or no way to customize the CAD environment (GUI). Background colour for instance.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Easy to work on the same model for multiple team members, without an extra PDM system. The workflow of Onshape saves us a lot of time compared to our old file based CAD system. Editing properties/materials for multiple parts at once, for example, as all parts are available right there in the browser, without having to open a bunch of files from Windows Explorer.

Just do it

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
cloud computation means more reliability
What do you dislike about the product?
some of the apps could be integrated in the software, and be free, some of them dont have good quality and I hope as there is space for others to compete onshape would have its own features embed to the product
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
consumer product design
Recommendations to others considering the product:
There has to be something done about the apps <-- quality, integration, prices

Onshape delivers real value

  • January 30, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
A few things that I like about Onshape are that it never crashes (no loss of data), I never have to worry about testing an update (huge time saver), and that it works on any device (saves money on workstations).
What do you dislike about the product?
I'm still looking for some functionality in order to present Onshape as a replacement for our current CAD system. Basically I need to determine how to integrate Onshape into other existing business systems.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Haven't solved any issues yet, too much of my time is being spent supporting the current CAD system and its problems.

Collaboration

  • January 30, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The benefits of the collaboration process with Onshape is priceless, the architecture of the software is outstanding and the team at Onshape are awesome to work with. We are in the process of discontinuing use of other CAD software due to the current and future benefits of this platform.
What do you dislike about the product?
I can't think of any negative issues with Onshape.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
1. Collaboration.
2. Single platform for all of our needs.
3. Increased efficiency.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Do it!

Onshape has changed my world!

  • January 30, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Onshape allows access to my CAD models anywhere even my phone. You never have to worry about saving your work because Onshape does it for you regularly. The dreaded upgrades are non existent because Onshape incrementally upgrades the software on the cloud almost unnoticeable.
What do you dislike about the product?
There isn't a whole lot of standard hardware available yet and there could be more functionality with the hole creator. For example reamed holes and press and slip fits...
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am able to easily create and assemble fixtures and access them when I'm traveling.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Need more functionality for making holes. Perhaps the ability to save your own common hole configurations.

Take Onshape with you, wherever you go.

  • January 30, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The workflow with other teammates is fantastic. Love being able to watch each others' screens and seamlessly jump in and out of models with intuitive, and easy to use, revision control. The iPhone app is IMPRESSIVE. I've literally designed components from the backseat of a Lyft ride on my phone, and it feels like magic. Works very well with imported STEP files. Easy to make 2D drawings and update as the 3D model evolves.
What do you dislike about the product?
Loading. If there's one complaint I'd have, it's that on occasion, the models will take longer to load than expected and will be sluggish when manipulating. There have been a few instances where we've run into some bugs with assembly constraints but the Onshape team was very quick to helping us resolve.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We're using Onshape to design critical components of our system, high-level FEA analysis (using a plugin), & to run simulations for component / assembly integrations from multiple different suppliers.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Would highly recommend giving it a whirl.
