Filmmaker switching from Vimeo to Gumlet
What do you like best about the product?
Gumlet offers speedy transcoding, easy hosting, and responsive streaming of my film media. I appreciate the privacy features, e.g. password-protecting my videos and even giving me the ability to geo-block certain countries from accessing my content. Also, the automated AI subtitling, the extensive analytics and reports, that it offers direct download links, player customization and - in my case - a very attractive value proposition with the current lifetime deal.
What do you dislike about the product?
While the quality of the UI ranges from quite nice to impressive, it could still be improved further. However, they are actively working on this and other features. The video library and playlist system are good and sufficient for my needs, but the integration of a folder system would be much appreciated. An optional column for privacy in the video list would be great, showing at a glance which videos are password protected, unlisted, public, private, etc.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Gumlet offers me features I did not have with my prior paid Vimeo plan, such as the ability to geo-block certain countries from my content. Gumlet is also a great value proposition for me with their current deal, because I need many of the paid features of such services, but the monthly bandwidth used in my case is quite low. Because of this, the lifetime deal fits very well for me, because I will not have recurring monthly payments anymore. Gumlet is giving me the abilties Vimeo did: responsive video hosting with a customizable player, password protecting videos, and even automated subtitling. All in all, it improves my professional flexibility and technical business capabilities.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Gumlet is actually acting as an alternative of youtube and vimeo. With youtube, users used to see irrelevant videos at the end. This problem is now fixed after using gumlet. Moreover, we can create our private channel and protect the videos with DRM.

What do you like best about the product?
Gumlet is incredibly easy to use. The feature set is quite robust and has the features I need and expect from a top end streaming website and video host. I've been looking at several different video hosting services and this is one that really stands out. I'm impressed with the numbers of features there are. The ability to control all the aspects of embedding videos and sharing links is a big one for me, and Gumlet really delivers.
What do you dislike about the product?
There isn't much to dislike about the platform, it's very well designed. I do think the upload screen and process could be better.

I need a video hosting service that I can reliably use for both internal and client work.

At a certain point, you need to professionally host your videos, either for a learning management scenario or other B2B use case. Gumlet hits that sweet spot on price/performance in this case.

- The most important features in Gumlet are the DRM (Digital Rights Management) and the dynamic watermarking what I like very much.
I will planning to create online courses. I spent at least 5 years to find the best online piracy protetctor SaaS.
It looks like I found the solution to protect my contents.
- On the Gumlet website have got a DRM protected sample video. I tested with many screen recording software with this sample. And guess what? I coudn't play properly the recordings file. The whole screen was grey colour. I tried downloading this video sample with the popular Video Download Helper extension (Mozilla Firefox) and it didn't work too.

- I'm not a programmer guy. The learning curve will be tough for me I think. For example: hard to figure how to set up an API key for WordPress LMS (LearnDash), etc.
- They have a documentation page. I have reviewed. I hope the whole setting maybe not so complicated.
- The Gumlet has a YouTube tutorial channel, although the last content uploaded in 2023.
- I hope the CEO will uploading fresh helpful videos to their YouTube channel in the near future.
- Update: On November 30. 2024. in a Zoom meeting, Gumlet’s co-founder, Divyesh Patel, promised that to us in 2025 will upload tutorial videos to the Gumlet YT channel.

I mentioned that, the DRM and dynamic watermark features will protect my future made educational videos. The educational videos making requires tremendous time and energy. With Gumlet will remain more money in my pocket.

I have tried many video hosting platforms are all are expensive and don't give me what I need.
YouTube is good but of course there are issues with YT with ads etc

Their extensive API. I can integrate Gumlet into my application with ease.

So far, I like what they are offering, and I haven't hit any limitations.

I have a platform for filmmakers which heavily rely on video. So far we have been using YouTube/Vimeo but with Gumlet I can let filmmakers upload their film directly to my site.
