Mimecast is a great product that met and exceeded our expectations in the first year.
What do you like best about the product?
The best feature of the secure gateway for our organization is the outlook integration. Our users are not all tech savvy and the toolbar has made the process much easier on the users. The former solution we used was much less user friendly and made it more difficult to manage held emails by the users.
What do you dislike about the product?
There have been a few outages where we are not able to access the administration console for hours at a time. This has not caused too many issues, but it is more of an annoyance.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Spam mails, phishing email deliveries, and securing protected information are the problems being solved. We have stopped many emails containing Personal Health Information, and Personally Identifiable Information saving us from HIPAA breaches. In addition, the secure gateway has greatly limited the number of phishing emails being delivered to our staff.
Mimecast Secure Email Gateway Rocks!
What do you like best about the product?
The Mimecast Secure Email Gateway is a great way to securely communicate and collaborate between external parties. We have been waiting for this feature for a while and are very happy that is it now available.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing to dislike, we are loving it so far!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Not having to deploy another secure email solution. Cost savings for sure!
Excellent service
What do you like best about the product?
The power and flexibility of the administration console, to get as granular as you need, but not require it if you don't.
What do you dislike about the product?
The loved flexibility means it's a little overwhelming at first, but that's on me, not the product.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
SPAM reaching our organization is way down, users are much happier, helpdesk spends less time on spam related issues.
Saves Time and Money
What do you like best about the product?
For my part I used the archive search on a weekly basis for our legal team. The previous admin team had setup exchange journaling to tape with Backup exec. We would get 3 months of journals on 1 tape, At the time we did not have a inhouse exchange person, so we would out source the searches to a consulting firm, The first year of using Mimecast paid for itself with the legal searches.
What do you dislike about the product?
i would like to see a desktop app for the archive searching.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With Mimecast we have better spam protection then our previous product. We have less computer issue to resolve because the users are not getting all of the Junk the contains links to bad places.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Mimecast was an easy choice to go with, we were rejecting 200k messages with our old onsite solution, with Mimecast all the junk get filtered out in the cloud so only the usable mail comes to our exchange servers. We were able to justify the cost within the first year of using the service with the saving we gained doing archive searches.
Mimecast as email firewall
What do you like best about the product?
One stop shop for reviewing and managing all email rules and restrictions applied to the whole company
What do you dislike about the product?
Some features are cumbersome to use. Could have been more flexible to display the information we need.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Implementing rules and policies for securing the email environment. Protecting the environment from spammers, malwares, malicious, marketing emails, etc.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Mimecast is a great tool to use. It serves the purpose. But if in market I would check for Cisco tools that may be easy to use.
Perfect for stopping junk mail/spam
What do you like best about the product?
The software is good at stopping phishing emails and spam. It is easy to use and quite self-explanatory, almost like having another outlook screen. You receive notifications when an email has been held and can action what you wish to do with it.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes delays emails and can stop important non-spam emails coming through. Another issue is when you log in to a different computer, you have to run through the authentication progress from the beginning, which can take some time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is a secure software which has enable to filter down the emails are sent to me. We used to have loads of spam emails come through, some impersonating other members of staff. As a result of using this software, we have seen a reduction in phishing emails and links which could potentially steal personal information
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you use outlook or any other email software and manage sensitive data, Mimecast is perfect for that extra security. It is worth bringing it in on a trial basis to see if it can help secure your day to day emails .
Security First email filtering
What do you like best about the product?
Mimecast has been great for our company, with features that allow us to be much more effective at dealing with evolving email-based cyber threats as compared to traditional anti-spam providers.
I swear by the URL Filtering, Impersonation protection, and Attachment Sandboxing features.
The email continuity has been a great feature to have as an option if our Office 365 were to encounter significant availability issues.
I love the level of information available in the Mimecast Dashboard. I feel confident I can quickly find information in the Mimecast logs to troubleshoot issues and monitor email flow.

Price has always been high, and seems to be getting worse every renewal.
New features are rolled out as separate SKUs, rather than enhancing the existing product. This is frustrating for existing adopters, as it feels like you are constantly being upsold.
Mimecast availability has suffered in the second half of 2019, with several significant outages. Mimecast support and leadership were not very responsive to the issues initially. Things seemed to have improved significantly since major outages in October.
New features are rolled out as separate SKUs, rather than enhancing the existing product. This is frustrating for existing adopters, as it feels like you are constantly being upsold.

Phishing protection - ability to quickly identify phishing emails and respond tho threats and remediate users who have clicked on phishing links.
Improved visibility into email delivery (ability to quickly go into logs and show proof email was delivered to remote server).

Makes certain to get longer term price lock in, and make sure it includes adding additional users in the future.
Great option for secure e-mail
What do you like best about the product?
It keeps all your past secure messages in one spot, and provides a great option for secure messaging with business partners
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish i could integrate it into my Microsoft outlook so i could do all messaging from one spot
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
im confident when i send confidential client information, in that it wont be susceptible to outside hackers. confident that information wont be stolen
Pretty Cheap Yet Helpful
What do you like best about the product?
Pretty helpful for filtering potentially unwanted emails and spam generally. Also good at detecting potential phishing. It's nice to have the peace of mind when you're sorting through your inbox that it's not cluttered with spam or potential security threats.
What do you dislike about the product?
The UI is a bit clunky and releasing emails can be a bit cumbersome as you have to do in on a separate website instead of in outlook itself. It just takes longer than I would like to view an email mimecast has flagged as spam

Email security at a low price.

Improve UI and functionality around releasing potential spam or potentially harmful emails

What do you like best about the product?
I’ve used mimecast at work and I think it’s great. If I delete emails 2 hours post receipt it’s saved in my mimecast.
What do you dislike about the product?
I find search for emails cumbersome. Even when I use filters for size, received by etc. seems like it’s difficult to sort. And I don’t necessarily find the emails. Unsure if it’s a glitch in my computer
