Great
What do you like best about the product?
Its effectiveness in blocking unwanted mail. Customer support is fantastic. They have always responded quickly to tickets, their online documentation is extensive, and the training they provide is very helpful. They are adding new features constantly.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the configurations for rules to block mail are not as intuitive as they could be for new users.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It has cut our spam by a high %. We also use it to prevent users from falling victim to phishing scams, as well as blocking virus and malware from affecting our systems.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would set up a 30 or 60 day trial if they offer it and work with their sales engineers to get dialed in. I don't think you will be disappointed with the product.
Email Security Review
What do you like best about the product?
I just works. Everything about it is worry free. For example; when it is time to renew, I get a bill, I pay it and the software continues to work. No license keys to instal, no software to upgrade, no patches or maintenance to perform. I worry about Mimecast the least because it is worry and maintenance free.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think it is a little more complicated to install and setup rules however they provide tons of great documentation and their technical support is about the best there is.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
All email security including viruses, threats and impersonation attempts. Ransomware is one of the largest fears I have. Mimecast is the most important tool I have to protect our organization from email threats.
Great service, reasonable cost, very customizable
What do you like best about the product?
Very customizable to the point of creating specific policies all the way down to the individual level. The biggest perk is the Outlook plugin which keeps the end users happy with easy checking if something new came in that seems suspicious.
What do you dislike about the product?
Over the last couple years there has been a few service hiccups - all resolved quickly. With so many settings, you can get a little lost in the analysis flow if you need to create different workflows for C level employees.
It works too well. We hear "I'm not getting email from so and so" on occasion. Upon looking in to the scenario, it's because the sending party screwed up something like their SPF record. :)

We had some whaling issues before Mimecast. This has prevented that with impersonation protect and a robust SPF and DMARC checking.
End users would create numerous help desk tickets to release an email they think came in that they were missing. They would get a report every 4 hours, but that wasn't good enough. We have Mimecast configured the same, but the ease of use with the Outlook plugin make it instantaneous to look.

Recommendations to others considering the product:
Talk to a sales person. They are extremely knowledgeable and will demo anything. The Outlook integration is brushed off by many of their competitors when brought up, but when you see it in action and realize the end user experience/acceptance factor, it wins.
Check their documentation online. I was surprised at how much is available that you can read up on before even signing up to get an understanding on how it can be configured.

Granular and Effective
What do you like best about the product?
I've used Mimecast for a couple of years now and definitely appreciate the ability to customize every aspect of our filtering, routing, and policies. I think the interface is easy to use and the help documentation is well presented and informative. The 'learning' spam filtering has cut our spam/phishing messages by 90% over our past Barracuda service. Office 365 integration was easy to accomplish and the implementation person I worked with was very knowledgeable.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is a bit to learn regarding all of the policies and options, but well worth the time investment if you're looking for granularity.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We had a previous email spam filter, but it wasn't as effective as we would have liked. We were also very concerned about phishing and impersonation attempts made against our employees. The policies and filtering we've put in place, along with Outlook integration are making it very easy for our employees to identify and avoid those attempts.
Solid Product With Minimal Management Overhead
What do you like best about the product?
I simply like knowing that email attachments and links are being protected with their sandbox execution and url rewrite capabilities. It gives me a stronger piece of mind knowing that these items are being tested before even entering my network.
What do you dislike about the product?
We haven't found anything yet that we dislike about it!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Mimecast reduces the threat landscape by protecting our employees from malicious attachments and links.

Mimecast Email Security
What do you like best about the product?
Portfolio is comprehensive and provides strong security for my users. As an admin the setup is easy and allows for lots of customizations and integrations.
What do you dislike about the product?
Support can be slow to respond and the only way to get support quickly is to call in.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
better protection on inbound and outbound email for malware and spam. Mimecast does a very good job of keeping spam from reaching my inboc
Mimecast - thorough, reliable, extremely useful
What do you like best about the product?
I love that Mimecast catches almost all spam and presents the user with choices, so that admins do not have to get involved. The admin portal is amazingly fast.
What do you dislike about the product?
It costs more than I would like but provides a good service.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Mimecast prevents the user from being barraged by zillions of spam emails, blocks malware in email, and sandboxes specific types of attachments for testing.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Look at all the features and the minimal admin time requirement.
Pretty effective. Not sure if worth the admin overhead.
What do you like best about the product?
Definitely is a solid wall against unwanted and dangerous email. Dashboards are clear and easy to see data
What do you dislike about the product?
Administration is very clunky, unclear.
Simple modifications to policy or exceptions require much more time and effort than competitors. As an experienced SysAdmin (though new to this tool), I needed 2x support calls to solve a firedrill.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Almost zero spam hitting our Gmail instance. Phishing reports are less than 5x per month. Almost removes the need for users to be phishing-conscious.
Consistent performance and excellent support
What do you like best about the product?
Good support for SAAS is imperative, and Mimecast support exceeds that in the experience we have had. The feature we use are reliable and we see new features added regularly. Any issues in service is met with thorough and timely information as well as there being almost no interruption in services provided in three years. The products we use are completely configurable for our needs and there seems to be no shortage in customization to meet requirements we have seen.
What do you dislike about the product?
The learning curve for some of the features we use requires a call to support to fully understand. This is not a problem, more of a struggle for me to find something I dislike.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Complete control over blocked senders and allowing users to manage their own permitted and blocked lists.
Complicated, but worth it.
What do you like best about the product?
The service is very thorough. So thorough that sometimes it frustrates users who want or need simple attachments, but Mimecast knows the potential for those attachments to be malicious, so it blocks them. Personally I'd rather be safe than sorry.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is a very complicated service to use. VERY. If I'm modifying a rule, or adding some exlusion somewhere, I almost always have to have tech support help me out. Or especially on a Discovery case if we're involved in a lawsuit. But the day to day operations I've managed to get much better at over time, so I'm feeling better about some basic tasks.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I guess I'm not really having problems, except what I mentioned above, that sometimes users need or want certain attachments that Mimecast blocks, and I have to get Mimecast technical support to help me make rules for those exclusions. I think the benefits are self evident. We're a much safer company for using Mimecast, and my users are definitely facing fewer online dangers in their day to day work experiences.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Take the time to have your admins do training. And then have them do it again.
