What do you like best about the product?
It's the speed and data integrity with IBM DB2. Looking towards z/OS & IBM hardware, ever component is custom built from ground up, leading to this power of DB2.
I hear 2/3 production issues per year on Oracle DB, compared to 1 per year on IBM DB2.

Lack of rapid development in the GUI based IDEs and tools from IBM.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Banking transactions on DB2 have a very high TPS with best in class data integrity.

The Flexibility with speed. Allows space for doing more with minimal compromise on performance.

New arrangement takes away features to different views thereby decreasing the convenience of the user.

Real time processing of Orders and queries from e-commerce onto the db

What do you dislike about the product?
A Bit archaic, usually run on Mochasoft.
Although IDEs with better interfaces are available they can be very expensive, so most mainframe projects use old Terminals which require knowledge of mainframe technologies which isn't efficient.
Example, using F7 and F8 just to scroll up and down significantly decreases efficiency.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I work on a large scale mainframe application where data received daily is in millions. Certainly allows for extremely fast and secure processing of sensitive data such as call details for a multination telecommunication provider.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Use only if the volume of data is huge, otherwise stick to others as learning and using mainframe technology can be challenging.
DB2 works so well with Tableau and other BI apps.
What do you like best about the product?
Working with almost all kinds of DB technologies available right now, I have been so amazed with the speed of processing of records on db2. Being a Tableau expert, fetching data on the go at a reliable speed has been one of the critical requirement and I feel safe to say DB2 has been good with it not just in Live but in Creating Huge Extracts too.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing as such. It is already doing a good job. DB2 can even reach much greater heights in terms of Data Processing ( already is) with more frequent update rollouts.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using DB2 to host huge financial data and create Tableau reports and dashboards out of it for data analysis. The performance have been very good with DB2 and also the interoperability across different environments ( Dev,Prod,Qa)

It is a good tool for Storing and Warehousing.

I dont like how the sequences are managed. In some time the database is very slow.

I am developpers normaly there are others persons for repair the problems in databases. I only run a runstat in one table because there were very very slow, the performance was improve after runstats

Its a highly scalable and performance driven RDBMS.

What do you like best about the product?
it is light weight and provides high performance. I can run multiple jobs at once using the Task Scheduler. It also supports some of Orarcle's SQL. Minimal administration needed compared to other enterprise database products in the market. It is owned by IBM. Getting support from IBM is very convenient

It's very difficult to integrate it with other services and frameworks.
Price is quite high when compared with other databases. Rest everything is fine in DB2.

Whenever the size of data is large, I use to export the data in Excel file to analyze it. This is a feature provided by Db2
I can sort the data by just adding 'Order by' command at the end of the query.
Just by writing 'WITH UR' at the end of query, I can get all the uncommitted rolls.
It saves the data against loss, unauthorized access (by granting access to particular users).

If anyone is searching for Database that is light weight and performance is high and if u do not have any budget issue, then I would recommend to go for IBM Db2.

What do you like best about the product?
Ibm2 is the first database i have used which has GUI. So as a first GUI database, it is quite easy to understand. Best database to work with at your initial stage.
What do you dislike about the product?
It can be better at performance. Sometimes it feels slow.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Umm, i just used it for practice and it is very good for us to know the query language as well as gui.
