DB2 the legacy legacy
What do you like best about the product?
Calls to database have not changed much in years

Dated - does not have tools to support web and monitoring tools

Calculation of payments using historical data. COBOL is easy to read.

Consider another product with gui, Windows, and support tools

Configuration takes time and some times complex

For making queries I enjoyed it. It is able to build off different types for searches and storing data.

There isn't much for me to complain about in all honesty.

Data searching. Building the database is easier and optimal for finding words or items when searching.

Improvise with what you are using this for. I knew someone who did something like this for ethnography

Cost of operation and maintainance. Can get quite expensive

Useing it as our primary database management system.

Great RDBS tool. Better than it's competitors. Shoud definitely give it a shot. Highly recommended!

The stability provided by this IBM product cannot be matched, which is evidenced by how long the product has been in use.

The pack of innovation within the app is a definate point of frustration.

Database management has been made significantly more effienct due to our use of DB2

not simpler as compare to other DB available in the market. Need more infrastructure to support

It offers many features and does the ETL process relatively well

The whole interface is outdated, due a update to modern gui expectations.

Easy to learn, use and develop in delivering business applications.

Lack of marketing by IBM to promote the power systems.

We build custom licensing and permitting applications using free-form RPG running on an IBM i power server. Rock-solid security 2nd to none.

Best platform to run DB2 in on IBM power running i5/OS (AS/400) operating system.
