Strong and powerful tool for storing and retrieving data.
What do you like best about the product?
it is light weight and provides high performance. I can run multiple jobs at once using the Task Scheduler. It also supports some of Orarcle's SQL. Minimal administration needed compared to other enterprise database products in the market. It is owned by IBM. Getting support from IBM is very convenient

It's very difficult to integrate it with other services and frameworks.
Price is quite high when compared with other databases. Rest everything is fine in DB2.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Whenever the size of data is large, I use to export the data in Excel file to analyze it. This is a feature provided by Db2
I can sort the data by just adding 'Order by' command at the end of the query.
Just by writing 'WITH UR' at the end of query, I can get all the uncommitted rolls.
It saves the data against loss, unauthorized access (by granting access to particular users).

If anyone is searching for Database that is light weight and performance is high and if u do not have any budget issue, then I would recommend to go for IBM Db2.

What do you like best about the product?
The best thing about the IBM DB2 is that it's has all the features which other available relational data base can have.It's embedded with lot's of feature which enhances the data base experience to manage the data very easily. This is the best database to manage the huge data of any big organization.We can easily drop/update/alter/create the tables and access can be restricted as per our desire in just one line of SQL query. SQL query can be easily written in SQL query editor.
What do you dislike about the product?
DB2 gets slow when we have the some many users at a time. Db2 is expensive as compare to other available databse softwares. SQL query editor is not as good as it should be because we can't replace the word as we can do in any text editor. There can be a better online support.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I've implemented IBM Db2 relational database in my web application and it's so efficient to save the memory. I can easily manage the data by using the handy features available by doing just right click.We can easily write/update/delete any record in just one click.We can easily sort the data to analyse a huge dataset. I usually export the data from database to my excel sheet in order to share it with others.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would strongly recommend DB2 to every organization because of it's handy features and it's online support to its users.IBM always take care about the new updates for your subscription.We can easily manage the table or schema access by just following simple steps. Db2 is a good relational database as it provides the quick query writing support by doing right click. We can easily export the data from Db2 databse to excel/open office and later we can analyse of present the data in any format.This is good for large organizations as well as small or medium size organizations.

There is no powerful management tool like Oracle OEM
No built-in "lightweight" management tool (like SQL-developer)

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I took part in migration of banking system from Oracle to DB2 (Linux) that reduced cost of system (support and evolution) for our customer.

good to use to learn sql, run queries on a small data sets.

The software is hard to debug sql queries and the database is hard to view through command prompt.

What do you like best about the product?
I started my career on Mainframe technologies and for database was DB2. Initially I was bit reluctant to learn and felt little cumbersome as we are more comfortable with GUI/ UI interfaces. It was black and white screen with CUI interface. But our product was insurance and very complex one with huge data in it. Whenever we fired any SQL command expectation was to return almost immediately. And to process the batch jobs, security features. So eventually when I realized those points I started lovin DB2. And those products were developed 40-50 years back and that time DB2 was very popular. Amazingly today also it is working without any issue.
What do you dislike about the product?
May be the interface, installation, maintenance cost and process. It was not very fancy. Menus were to give command by interning the options. No usage of mouse. Again I think that is not the limitation of the RDBMS (DB2). DB2 point of view may be many commands are not there if we compare with today's Oracle one.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I started working on the product which was designed, developed in DB2. Benefit I can say the reliablity, security, capability to handle huge data.

If looking for a secured database capable to handle huge data you may consider IBM DB2. It is quite stable with outstanding support systems.

Ibm2 is the first database i have used which has GUI. So as a first GUI database, it is quite easy to understand. Best database to work with at your initial stage.

It can be better at performance. Sometimes it feels slow.

Umm, i just used it for practice and it is very good for us to know the query language as well as gui.

IBM db2 is a very complete, fast and versatile database option, there are many reasons why I choose IBM db2 as my database. Whether for its great versatility when running on a wide variety of operating systems, such as window, mac, Linux, etc.
Another point in favor of IBM db2 is its security and data management. In general, it is an excellent, easy-to-use, high-performance, scalable and flexible SQL engine for big-data, with advanced data query functions and much more.

IBM db2 was my main option as a database, but after a while, I saw many disadvantages that make me think about replacing it.
-Conversions between databases become tedious at times.
-Technical support takes time to respond.
-The price is a bit high compared to other database software.
Those are the main features that I dislike about IBM db2, in short, it needs to improve some aspects to live up to the best.

I recommend it for its easy-to-use, high-performance, scalable and flexible SQL engine for big-data, as well as its versatility. But it is not one of the best in the market, so I recommend researching and looking for the database software that best suits you.

What do you like best about the product?
The great storage functionality and the great utilities to administrate DB2. It's fast and great for gathering a lot of data. Even the analyses of data is great, fast shared access to multiple users.

Nothing is there to be disliked. It's working great and fine!

Great storage and quick access on monitoring data.
