Excellent tool for media relationship building and listening

What do you like best about the product?
Meltwater's reporting functionality makes it easy to share media intelligence internally as well as access an easy-to-view snapshot of daily mentions, etc. It's media database is also helpful for new contacts and sources.
What do you dislike about the product?
The media database usability could be better.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Meltwater allows my business to easily create send and track communications to reporters.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Meltwater offers excellent customer support. Anytime I've had a question or issue their team has been readily available to help.

No longer spinning my wheels

What do you like best about the product?
I'm a one-woman shop in my small non-profit and I was spinning my wheels every time I attempted to get media coverage. My excel spreadsheets were always out of date, my press releases took hours to send individually to journalists or were ignored if sent en masse. After just one month of using the Meltwater platform, I've already had coverage by three media outlets! It's so simple to send personalized releases or pitches without spending hours on emails and it's so simple to reach the right people the first time.
What do you dislike about the product?
So far, nothing. I'm only about a month into using the platform and have been really happy.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our small non-profit is finally getting media coverage and I'm saving literally hours of my time. I also found several pieces of news coverage through the searches that I wouldn't have previously found via Google alert.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Excellent customer service and support! Flexible pricing packages - especially for smaller non-profits and especially compared to their competitors.

Modern interface and good support

What do you like best about the product?
The interface is very intuitive and offers a lot of options for tracking and analytics. It's easier to stay on top of my monthly reports and those reports have become more visual and detailed.

Support is also always quick to respond and I feel like I'm communicating with a real person on the other end.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish Meltwater would be more permissive of which outlets it tracks. They're often willing to add new websites but sometimes have rules about editorial criteria that keep me from tracking key mentions and editorials. I work in a niche industry and *I* know a certain website is legitimate and relevant but Meltwater still won't add it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tracking where our editorial content is picked up and monitoring mentions around the world. Also, distributing press releases.

What do you like best about the product?
It helps us create media scans easily and quickly. It also helps us distribute it in eye-pleasing way with links and quick one click options. We can easily keep lists of reporters based on certain topics or campaigns which is really useful when you want to pitch a story.
What do you dislike about the product?
Their customer service has been slower than we would like, especially considering we are paying for their top package.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We used to cut and paste a daily email with the headlines each dead. It was tedious and boring for both the communications team that had to put it together, and the readers. We would have to use a couple of services to gather all the headlines and then create an email in Outlook. Now we send out a media scan easily as Meltwater pulls all the items we want in one place and then allows us to create the email and send it all in their platform.

We also use it to send out media releases. It helps us curate a list of reporters who write about particular topics and send them releases or tips quickly and efficiently. Before we had to go through a list manually and try to figure out which reporters may be interested in a particular story and it was hit or miss.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is a great service that I think you will be happy with. It is much more modern and user-friendly than other antiquated systems out there. It is pricey however, it was not much of a money saver compared to another larger service we were using previously.

What do you like best about the product?
The platform is very easy to understand and navigate. It is simple and you can customize it to have your dashboard show exactly what you want.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes the website can lag or be a little bit behind with analytics. It has not been a huge issue but it can take a few times of refreshing to get up to date.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The use of every analytics in one place. It is a lot easier to use Meltwater than to use many different tools- everything is combined in one place. A huge benefit from this has been seeing the comparison next to competitors and making sure we are up to par with industry standard for visibility.

Meltwater - Inaccurate Monitoring

What do you like best about the product?
I like that you can select certain placements and then see analytics on them and the breakdown of competitor coverage.
What do you dislike about the product?
This tool is simply not very accurate. I search for placements by hand for my clients through Google search results and often those won't show up in Meltwater. This shows that it's only good for a general overview of monitoring, but can't be solely relied on. Plus there's a ton of garbage placements it finds, such as syndicated press releases and we haven't found a way to exclude those in the search. The premise of Meltwater is good, but it needs to up it's aggregation skills so all placements can be tracked.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Meltwater helps us do competitor media coverage analysis and create share of voice reports for our client.

What do you like best about the product?
Ability to hunt down contact info of journalists and see which publications have mentioned your organization through an easy search.
What do you dislike about the product?
The fact that you have to pay extra to access database outside North America--seems like a cheap way to get more money when all we're talking about is contact info.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We need to find journalists/publications' contact info quickly and it benefits us when we can do this through a quick search in Meltwater--it's a real time-saver.

What do you like best about the product?
The ease of use is probably the the best attribute. I work with a lot of other social listening platforms due to the licenses our clients have but always double check their results against Sysomos, as I feel the most comfortable with the results and how to use it to solve different tasks.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think Sysomos could do more with audience segmentation and consumer insights. I think Netbase has a bit of headway on this feature.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
1) Crisis management for brands who have negative articles written about them.

2) Content planning to help inform brand campaigns

I realize that Sysomos is able to help determine how the target audience talks about a certain subject that is important to our client and we are able to educate and redirect the brand messaging to be more authentic and relatable to the consumer.
